Hi! Just subscribed to your channel after watching your show on Daniell's USA program. Than you for speaking so clearly about your home garden since "2009"....WOW! We are USA, CALIFORNIA. Zone 7, but now considered zone 8....high desert my husband 81 and myself 79...?still take care of our "just under" one acre property of hills and flat land.....we've been here 47 years....had drought after having some winters freeze large swaths of plantings and ground covers....and pretty much starting over. We do have about 12 large oaks that we're medium size when we bought our home and we have 3 mature white birch...and a honey locust....etc. etc. so we take care of them....having to head more toward the contemporary and desert plants since we'd all been cautioned to remove our lawns.... It's a very different look ...not so sure I like it and am learning all the time....what we're learning is more to enjoy every day we're given....God bless you and your family and thank you for bringing us this beautiful garden via You Tube....and as Danielle says, "Happy Gardening". Hi Margie So glad to have you join the channel. Gardening is always a challenge, just when you think you’ve cracked it another problem arises but I guess that’s part of the fun. It was interesting hearing Danielle talk about her disappointment with her grass, we have exactly the same issue. Every year when the flowers look good the grass let’s it all down. We’ve had no issues with drought, this year, it’s rained every day so don’t know why the grass is brown! We are definitely removing more and more. Do you thatch your grass? and fertilize it. My husband took care of the grass for over 45 years. It always looked beautiful., Lush and green .. he wouldn't cut it low in the summer months. .too hard on it. Have a blessed day...
We’ve been a bit lazy with lawn care of late, we need to get back on it again as it really looks bad. Thank you for your advice, we will put it into practice next year.
I live just up the road on the Alma Park Estate if you know where that is! I went to Newton's old school and they had/have the most magnificent wisteria I've ever seen. Have you visited Easton Walled Gardens not far away and Barnsdale?
Thank you for your great comments, I haven’t visited Easton walled Gardens or Barnsdale. I grew up listening to Geoff Hamilton but only when I watched all his series back as an adult did I appreciate how great he was and how ahead of his time he was too. So sensible and practical and full of thrifty gardening tips and tricks, he was eco friendly way before it was fashionable! I rather stupidly didn’t realise or forgot that Barnsdale was in Lincolnshire and I will definitely try and visit sometime when we are in the area. Thank you so much for bringing this up, I would love to visit them both, may even do a video one day! Thanks again Jenny
@@MurphysGarden Thanks for your videos. Barnsdale is in Rutland but that's bit of a blink and you miss it county! I think it's threatened with closure by a solar farm plan at the moment.
