Think i know this area- this is an old Colliery/coal line - Pits have been closed down gradually over the last 30 years or so, and so have the railway lines that served them.
Hi, I have noticed that there are only 2 old lampposts left in mexborough. They are near the youth club and are in a bad state. They are a couple behind the boy and barrel but these dont have the posts that stick out at the sides. It would be good if you could get some footage of these before they go for good.
How many miles of this? And what replaced this, any background as to the history of why? How long ago and what happened to the wood on the tracks I wonder? Silly questions but I'm interested and not from the UK.
Philip parkinson, the DVR1 you mentioned is the ELR engineers line reference, which your right is the dearne valley railway, hope this helps. www.railwaycodes.org.uk/elrs/_mileages/D/DVR1.txt cheers
