Step 1: Face the wound of not feeling wanted, included, and loved as you are as a person. Can go deeper with The Completion Process 2: Live from love and what you truly want instead of avoiding consequences. 3: Create a life where you feel completely fulfilled, so you wouldn't feel like you were missing out. 4: Feel in control in the experiences you have. (Have experiences where you can get your needs met.) 5: Learn how to be afraid. Take care of your fear. The Anatomy of Loneliness has a section for fear. 6: Meet your needs. 7: Chose to do things for the experience itself, (not for getting something out of the experience) Learn to live your life according to what feels good, instead of trying to get people to percieve you in a certain way. 8: Let go of the idea that you can be everywhere, know everything, have everything all the time. Slow down. Don't multitask. Realise that your focus is mostly on what you lack instead of what you have. Practice more appeciation and gratitude. Accept that everybody will always lack something. Just focus on the things that really bring you joy, and be completely present when you do them. Fill your life with people who love that, who don't want you to conform to their idea of what they want you to be.

Oh my gosh, Teal. I recently discovered you a few months ago and I have been hooked on your videos. Like where have you been all my life? You literally are like answering all my questions. Thank you so much for making these amazing videos. You have no idea...or you probably do. haha You are such a treasure. FOMO has been such a struggle for me since childhood into adulthood, but not as bad recently. Everything you described was like spot on with my life as I was raised in an ultra-religious household and lived in fear of disappointing my parents and everyone else. I remember being like 6 years old scared to death that I would go to hell or get in trouble for the littlest things. I completely lived to avoid going to hell, avoid disappointing people, avoid people not liking me. I never ever did anything for myself because it was "selfish." I thought I was righteous by suffering. I literally believed it was selfish to try to be happy or do things for yourself, until something happened that changed my life and showed me....it was ok to want happiness, it was ok to do something for myself. Imagine living a life feeling like anything you do for yourself, for pleasure, fun, happiness, was selfish...with selfishness being wrong. I look back now and can't believe I grew up that way. But I have changed and grown so much. This was incredibly eye-opening. Thank you.

I've been in "relationships" where the person I was with continually exhibited the "grass is greener" syndrome; always checking out other people, flirting with other people, talking about their exes, ad nauseam. I tolerated this for as long as I could, because I felt like I would miss out if I dumped these user/loser people. I'm so glad you posted this video, because you woke me up to how I was shortchanging myself and how to get out of this trap. Thank you, Teal!

Thank you so much for giving me more clarity!

The funny thing from my perspective is that when one loses their attachment to the the false idea that they are going to miss out on something, they actually begin to to organically reconnect to the energy that brings everything into their life that they actually need to be fulfilled, which happens anyway! (another resolvable divine paradox lol) I love the snippets I catch of your work.

I just had my first "Teal's speaking directly to me" moment. I definitely have FOMO. My grandmother was really lazy, but I didn't realize that was the actual case until a relative pointed it out to me one day. I used to think her excuses for why I couldn't do something were actually true, for example, I couldn't be a cheerleader because I was so fat that they didn't make uniforms in my size or I couldn't participate in the school talent show because I'm untalented and would just make a fool out of myself. I wasn't allowed to go to school dances because the expectation was that if I did I would somehow come home pregnant. I was put into group homes when I was twelve and the same thing was pretty much the case. We couldn't do after school activities or have friends over. We weren't allowed to go into another room unless we were scheduled to be in that room. I didn't stay a FOMO phobe as an adult because I was afraid of losing my family, I pretty much lost them by the time I was a teenager anyway. I just had a LOA problem that I deep felt like the kinda of person that fun things don't happen to. Before I discovered these videos I thought I had a bad luck, for example, when I made a cool friend she almost always had to move away in about four months or my boyfriends are either super serious or fun-loving with severe destructive tendencies. I've gotten a little better at making myself a match to fun experiences, but as soon as I figured it out I wrecked my car and now I'm on "house arrest" at one of my serious ex-boyfriend's houses. Not a fun place to be in, but it's better than living on the streets. I'm trying to draw a job into my experience but I still have trouble with that.

Even as a kid I had FOMO I remember staying up way later than usual during family functions because I didn’t want to miss anything. I remember hearing all the funny stories that would occur when I was gone...so I figured that if I wanted to have fun I have to be around people, and it’s only when I’m gone that people do that, so it was a picking and choosing between hearing the stories and being there but the stories not be as funny. Now that I’m older my FOMO is worse. If I see my friends hanging out without me it makes me want to cry, because I want to be there too. Like why can’t I be there? Did I do something wrong that means I don’t have the privilege to have fun and be happy with these people? Right now my friends are away on a school trip that I couldn’t go on, so I’m definitely getting FOMO. My friend tells me about what they do and i can think about is how they are having fun and enjoying themselves while I’m stuck at home and school without them.

I love this video Teal. One of your best! We've all suffered FOMO at one stage or another in our lives (maybe even continue to), but I've learnt to stay strong on my convictions and the things that I love to do and want to do. The overall abiding point is to do what makes you feel great, and not confirm to anybody else's standards, regardless of how disappointed they may feel. Where there's a Want and Will, there's a Way! This resonates with me so much that I cried watching your video. You pointed out the deep cause of this issue-deep down, I want to feel included and good about myself by obtaining certain social status, wealth, job, a partner, etc. I constantly compare myself to others who are doing better than me and feel inadequate. I can never be satisfied with one partner even though I know they are kind to me cuz I feel there might be someone better with better education, job, better-looking, taller, more physically attractive. I know it’s sabotaging my mental health and relationships. I want to change but don’t know how.

FOMO could be considered a mental disease at this point. I've had it for years and it feels crippling at times. I want to do everything but I miss out on most of it. This video is so helpful! The part at the end where you said "we all miss out on things" really hits home. It's so obvious but I never even considered it. Even the people I compare myself to that I think have better lives than mine are missing out on a hell of a lot of things I'm sure. They probably had to sacrifice some areas of their life in order to achieve success in what they truly desired, as we all do.

I just am now scared to lose my sons when that isn’t possible...but one of them is so busy with his life and friends which is normal. Thank you Teal for sharing! Fascinating. It took me decades to recognize these type of bad patterns. Some good stuff here. (I'm thinking that people-pleasing falls into this FOMO concept)

I just had this conversation with a good friend of mine and thought I’d watch this because she was making me feel like I was missing out, since I’m saving for my future and don’t want to “be cool” like her other friend. Turns out, SHE has fomo and I DON’T! Lol! I actually enjoy doing the things I do, even if they are not what society thinks is fun! I am so glad to have watched this video! Thank you! 🙏🏼😁🌷🌸

When I was young I never felt as if I missed anything. I never thought about anything else than the current reality because there is no other option or reality other than the current. It’s pointless and it takes you to a non space where you feel non existent and non important. I am determined to bring back that kind of peace I used to have
