To be releasing this kinda thing on the fourth album is incredible. Most bands have fallen off or lost their way. Fontaines know exactly what they're doing. This is ART.
Most bands don’t make it these days, the fact that they did makes me not surprised at all that they’re still doing well, I believe they’ve got a lot more in the bank
@@peetahp3 not that I’m aware of! but that’s kind of the point of the video, being alternative in any way in the irish dance community is kind of looked down on. granted i find the community is mostly great and some of my closest friends i’ve met through dance, i’ve never really felt comfortable expressing myself within the community in any way that goes against the norm, apart from with a few select people (and that’s usually in spaces outside of dance itself)
@@ser_holyfire I wouldn't say that at all, having a bunch of single worthy songs is just what the pop labels want, they want a Taylor Swift or a Dua Lipa that can make a bunch of hits. For an album having different style songs that fit the general theme and sound of the album is impressive in itself. But some great albums like In Rainbows feel so complete because all the songs are similar in sound yet subtly different. Then the mark of a good band like Radiohead is the fact that the previous album was entirely different yet still did the exact same thing with having a complete sound and theme for an entire album. Honestly, Kanye West's albums share that quality.
@@DannBP1 ah yeah, definitely an old favourite of mine. They did such an amazing job with this video though that it seems like it could be it's own brilliantly done narrative
Fontaines DC are moving towards something that is not simple music. A hero's death and skinty fia were absolute bangers albums, the videos of the tracks were marvellous, but here it is something else, it's a beautiful marriage of music and cinematography and we will see how it all evolves.
The creativity of this band is exploding on this album. Both in their sound and their visuals. I am soooo excited for the album. I can’t get enough of their sound
I love how this video is about female bullying, especially when the girl is just prettier, more talented, different..until she finds her tribe of people to belong so she can finally fully express herself. Ode the the "unpopular" ones.
The problem with that kind of representation : 1) the other students blame her for being différent 2) she proves she is even more different than they thought 3) so they were... right ?! --> the real bullyed are perceived and treted differently, but they're not : the problem comes from the bullyer
el pintor??????? interpol is one of my favourite bands, I know their entire discography by heart, but I didn't see anything of el pintor on this song 😅 I think you could maaaaybe make the case for the overall vibe of the song and video being reminiscent of the vibe from the self titled (from always malaise onwards), but I don't think it's very similar
What strikes me is the power of the bass throughout the three released songs of the album. Very important place in the songs, a bit loose and lengthy, unremovable and very resonating, may be one of the elements that ties the album together .
You guys made me believe in art again. This is art. You are artists. That's the biggest compliment I can possibly give you. Much love from a fellow Irish expat in Japan ❤️
I'm 23 and always only listened to edm stuff, usually it's rare I find one song I really like, this band, every single song has been like the first song i've ever heard in my life. My favourite band now, completley switched my genres of music. 10/10
This might super out of pocket, but this album came out on the same day as my other favorite album of the summer. Spirit of the Beehives “you’ll have to lose something”. They are both incredible albums, SOTB is definitely an acquired taste. As a former edm listener (15 years ago, mind you) these albums both represent the progress of rock and pop intermingling in a way that has me feeling rejuvenated about music! Anyway, hope you dig it! Keep exploring, there’s so much great music out there:)
