Foo Fighters feat. Howlin' Pelle (The Hives) "Let There Be Rock" (AC/DC cover) live! Secret launch gig at "Vasa Teatern" in Stockholm, Sweden September 14, 2017.
They chose the perfect song to cover. Pelle's voice sounds just like Bon Scott's. Also, I love how when Dave invites someone on stage he pulls himself aside and limits to just play the guitar, contrary to other frontmen who just don't know what to do when they're not the primary attention focus. I guess it has to do with his drummer formation. Anyway, fantastic song, great band and outstanding guest singer. Hives for life!
I love how even though Pelle was 39, when he came on stage, he still had that energy a 19 year old would have on a stage, I would know, I'm 19 and that's how I act when I'm listening to music alone in my basement. Also, can we just appreciate the almost perpetual smile Chris Shiflett had on his face after Pelle came out? It's so endearing.
Love how the Foos get people to jam with them on stage. Pelle totally owned this song. Funny that I was just thinking how The Hives abide by the same AC/DC principle of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Then I see this. Total magic.
AC/DC's "Let There Be Rock" was a game changer for me, a teenage rocker back in 1977. As a die hard fan of Iggy & The Stooges, New York Dolls, The Ramones, The Clash , and Sex Pistols I was also a huge fan of the supreme Aussies. This cover is killer and Pelle (I share my name with him as fellow Swede) is delivering with perfection, just like Foo's. Rock'n roll poetry to my ears...
When I hear Foo Fighters, I don't hear three guitarists, let alone four which they had on many song on Sonic Highways. I mean, bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Iron Maiden are a little more conplex and guitar driven than Foo Fighters music. But eyy, Foo Fighters are still great, no dubt, just weird!
Well, watching my hives and inflammation dissolve every day until it all disappeared was definitely appeasing, I went with what I mentioned and after 20 days my urticaria/angioedema disappeared. I just go'ogled the latest by Shane Zormander and now my skin is as smooth and healthy as it has ever been!
