The first Foo album was made by Grohl recording pretty much all the instruments himself - as a kind of catharsis process after Kurt left us. He called himself "Foo Fighters" to make it sound like a band - not like the drummer of Nirvana processing his life. (As he constantly jokes - the last words a drummer ever said was "I have written a song") But this also explains why Taylor play the drums so damned good for Foo - it is a rather good drummer who wrote the song. And - yes Pat Smear. Their punk-roots go deep.

Yep, Dave from Nirvana. He wasn't about to fade just because Kurt died... His 1st two albums are better though.

Foo Fighters are working on their TENTH album now/soon. Love their music--but hey, everyone's a critic, right? Their catalog is all over the board: hard rock, pop radio, ballads...you name anything under the "Rock" genre, they've probably done it. But where they are at their best is LIVE performance. Take a look at "Monkey Wrench" @ Wembley Stadium in London playing for 80,000+. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ExJJmAt8YhI.html It may sound like it was their final song, but I think it was only the 3rd or 4th song of their set that night. Probably referring to Tom Petty Learning to Fly (similar name as the Foo Fighters song Learn to Fly). his lyrics are "I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings, Coming down is the hardest thing."
