I love that a company would do something as innovative as print a child’s play house on the inside of their packaging. Maybe other companies will start to do something similar now that this will have gained some attention

My primary takeaway from this video is the Mat and Steph must be really fun at a cookout.

A suggestion for a future food theory episode: How accurate are food expiration dates? Has the food industry ever been guilty of shortening expiration dates in order to increase sales? ie. The shorter an expiration date, the less likely a consumer is going to be able to consume the entire product in the allotted time frame, thus requiring them to purchase another?

It fills me with a great deal of joy that the Krabby Patty was the tastiest.

One huge difference for the Crabby Patty design it that the lettuce will prevent the cheese from melting hence changing its flavor.

I watched this when it was originally released and it fundamentally changed the way we build burgers in this house and I'm never going back. You changed our burger eating life, cannot thank you enough.

Try this sometime... Start by chopping all the vegetables. This way, you get all the flavors in every bite, without having to chase a ring of onion around, or suffer a whole slice of tomato or pickle sliding out with a bite. Next stack your savories (mustard, pickle and onion) and salads (mayo, lettuce and tomato) together when stacking. As far as the stacking goes, savories on the bottom bun, then the meat and cheese, topped with the salads under the top bun. This is also a very sturdy burger, due to the chopped veggies. Wanna take it up another notch? Try melting Velveeta on the patties. That's right, I said it. VELVEETA! Don't knock it till you've tried it. Just don't tell your friends until after they've tasted it. They'll love this burger! 😃

It’s funny because this was so common sense to me after working at Burger King when I was barely an adult. That was one thing that was stressed to us was that the build is very important and I was surprised at how important it ended up being after a little experimentation. So this was fun for me watching you guys go through the same process I did way back then.

Casual dinner hosts: We are going to be having burgers. Steph: Oh no... Matt Patt: BUT IN WHAT ORDER WILL IT BE?!?

I am actually very intrigued by this since I am currently working at a McDonald's, and we stack our burgers from crown (top bun) to heel (bottom bun). The order goes, for a hamburger, crown, ketchup, mustard, pickles, patty, heel. The cheeseburger is the same but between pickles and patty is a slice of cheese. McDouble goes crown, ketchup, mustard, pickle, patty, cheese, patty, heel; double cheeseburger has a second slice of cheese between the pickle and patty; filet goes crown, tartar sauce, fish, a half slice of cheese, heel; McChicken is crown, mayonnaise, lettuce, chicken, heel; crispy goes crown, butter, pickles, crispy chicken, heel; deluxe crispy is crown, mayo, lettuce, tomato, crispy chicken, heel. The Big Mac is a very different preparation order. We set the crown upside down in the top of the box, the heel rightside up in the bottom of the box, and set the club (the middle bun) atop the crown. Then we put the Big Mac sauce on both the heel and the club, then we do the same with lettuce, placing it on both the heel and the club, atop the mac sauce. On the heel, we then add the slice of cheese, while on the club we add pickles, then we add the patty. Now comes the slightly awkward part, most of the burgers and sandwiches can just have the untouched bun flipped onto the rest of the sandwich, but that isn't what ahppens with the Big Mac. Instead, at this point, the club section is lifted and placed onto the heel, again, without being flipped, then the crown is flipped on top of the whole thing. I'm sure anyone who even loosely studies the stack order of a Big Mac already knows this in some capacity, and it's probably addressed in this video. Premature comment out of the way, now to watch. Premature comment edit time! I like to add crinkle cut pickles (the ones you find on a regular and the spicy McCrispy, not the ones used on burgers) to my Deluxe McCrispy. I also add ketchup onto the heel, which I dare not tell my boss, who thinks that combining chicken and ketchup is sacrilege and heresy. My ideal sandwich is artisan potato crown, mayonnaise, lettuce, crinkle cut pickles, roma tomatoes, a crispy chicken patty, ketchup, then artisan potato heel. We shall see if my preferences or my work instruction match up with the conclusion. Watching the taste test segment explains something about my enjoyment of the Deluxe McCrispy despite not liking the flavor of tomatoes. The tomato is masked by the chicken along with the ketchup that I add.

You should make a theory about what the best bread to use as a burger bun is, it’s a surprisingly tough thing to get right

It's starting to get creepy how perfectly applicable Matpats videos are for my life. I literally started to learn how to make my own burgers last night and the burger kept making my bread way too soggy and would not stop falling apart. Matt, you have no idea how much your content means to me. I take my burgers seriously!

Just remember to check under Bubble Bass' tongue if the pickles are missing

Next time try cooking the burgers directly on the grill grates directly over the fire rather than on a griddle. I know restaurants call it a grill, but it's a griddle and is similar to the 70's approach of covering your grill grates with foil which reduces the flavor.

How to make a burger: first place down your bun on a plate step 2 grill your burger and once it’s done lay your patty on top step 3 place your lettuce on top you can put the sauce on the patty or lettuce step 4 next up get your tomatoes and put that on your burger step 5 place your onions step 6 place your pickles step 7 place done your bun on top

The quantity and form of the ingredients is such a massive variable. Some of the patties resembled meatballs which of course made the burger less stable. The buns could have been grilled which would decrease sogginess. The application and quantity of mayo could be changed really easily to make it less slippery. Gordon Ramsay even goes so far as to "snap" the lettuce so it's flatter.

I love this grill. My dad has it and he and I are OBSESSED with using it for as much as we can. We even used it to make chicken wings! Guys! Yao I can make hot wings in the oven, fryer, air fryer! But I’ll tell you this smoker grill handles it AWESOMELY TOO!

New theory: The krabby patties secret formula is just the order they put on the toppings. The krabby patty earned the mostpoints in taste.
