The #FoodSaver Adventure continues, but I've upgraded my machine (FM5000) and I wanted to share why! I've had this machine for several months now and I absolutely love it (especially for soups, broths, and sauces). Today, I'm going to utilize it for making Pulled Pork in my #Anova Immersion Circulator (#SousVide)! And after this adventure, I may never make pulled pork another way again. This is amazing!

Original recipe from Sarah at Savoring the Good: www.savoringth...
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the sous vide water bath to your preferred cooking temperature. My personal preference is 165°F / 74ºC for pull-apart, shreddable tender pork or use 145°F / 63ºC for pork that is tender but still sliceable
.
Coat the pork in your favorite dry rub. Place the coated pork in a vacuum seal bag. Submerge the sous vide bag in the water. Cook for 24 hours.
Remove from the sous vide, remove from the bag, reserve the juices. Pat the meat dry, add another layer of dry rub. Place the meat on a rimmed cookie sheet and cook for 1 ½-2 hours until a wonderful crust forms on the meat. Pull the pork for sandwiches.

To seal your soups, sauces etc…anything wet you can put it in the bag and fold the top over , you could use a clothes pin to keep them closed and freeze them upright in a box or container. Once frozen there is no issue sealing as it is no longer going to drip.
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
OH MY GOODNESS. That is genius!! Thank you!

Yours is the best instruction I have heard yet. I watched 4 other videos on this machine. Thank You thank you so much with the tips on the bags. I will be coming back and watching more of your videos. ❤

I put soups in one of the take out flat styles of take out containers and pop in freezer then when frozen pop in a food saver bag. So if having soup for dinner put it in container and next morning when frozen put in machine to seal. Thank you for your videos!

A little tip as I have had this model for a number of years. I really liked your demo, very good. After you pull your bag out, DONT cut straight away but use lever to seal then cut to size. That means that your bag already a bottom seal ready for cutting to size next time!

I bought a FoodSaver FM5000 a while back, and the instructions that came with it were pretty pathetic. Thank you for this video; it was very useful.

Why could you not easily put it on a large piece of wood to make it taller so that you could seal the soup or just seal the bag on one end and close it up on the other in with the soup in it with clips and freeze it and then when it’s frozen some where it won’t run out take the clips off and seal it wouldn’t that be better

To seal liquids with the 4xxx or 2xxx series, just set the sealer on something that's a couple inches above your countertop. I just set my FoodSaver on my tall wood cutting board

Great tip!

Love this video! I would suggest checking out the Zwilling vacuum seal bags. They have a much sturdier seal. I just got them and I think that they will last much longer. They also have a hand held vacuum sealer, but you don’t need it. I may get one for camping, because it will work with any vacuum sealer with canister vacuum sealing capabilities.
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
**googles that** Thanks!!

Have you thought of browning the entire pork roast after sous vide, in order to crisp the roast. I make a pork roast at a low temperature in the oven, and I end up with tender pulled pork, with crispy bits in it. I wonder if browning it in the oven afterwards would duplicate that. I’m going to try it sometime. I love your adventures. You are so fun!

I love this sealer! Thanks for the info on it. Could you also give a link or actual name for those sealable bags. They look awesome.

Is this the Food Saver FM 5460? Any problems with it after 2 years? People’s reviews make everyone of these things out to be unreliable. Help!

I really enjoy my foodsaver, and have had one for years! They shortened their bags again, this time by a inch from the top. What kind of madness is this?
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking

It's the kind of madness that makes us give them air time with our complaints LOL. No such thing as bad PR ;) LOL

About how many pounds was the piece of pork when you started?
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
Probably 4lbs. But I can't be sure.

How many quart is your pot?
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
I actually don't know! And that pot was taken by my son to college. So I can't even check. I have a larger one now. Sorry!

Why did you waste all that money? Are you a millionaire? This is upsetting, discarding something totally new.
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
I didn't discard anything. They asked me to send the old one back to them and sent me a new one :)

Who are you to judge what she does with items she purchased? It was a $75 item. She should not have to explain to anyone. Seriously!
