You can do the same thing with a Top Dog Jr. Except with the top water they can hit it and get caught.

Good information. Years ago I used popping corks and I think I got as many hits on the cork as the lure. My corks at the end of the day would be full of teeth marks. For some reason I got away from corks and just throw soft plastics or, when the water dirtied-up, castnet some finger mullet and fish live bait. I need to try corks again.

My alI time go to was the MANSFIELD MAULER 12-18" leader to a 1/4 oz jig with a 2.5" clear split tail jig bought from Buss Cheatham out of Port-A on C street. He's long gone but I still have one jig left out of 100 I bought from about 20 years ago.

Do the fish turn away from rattling crank baits as well? Few new baits are available without rattles, but used or "vintage" plugs from yard sales aren't hard to find.
