I'm aware that I'm really going out on a limb with the title of this video, as it actually contradicts everything we usually hear about junk journaling, doesn't it? In junk journaling, you're supposed to do whatever you want, there are no rules, no set sequence you must follow to achieve a beautiful result in the end. So what's this about a foolproof recipe? Because a recipe is usually something where you have to follow rules and a specific order?!

There are no junk journal police.❤❤❤❤❤ I’ve been at this for almost 20 years and it drives me crazy when people change language to suit their needs. Or worse, they have online arguments about using premade ephemera, digitals and or popular paper brands in their junk journals because that’s not a junk journal, it is a glue book or a treasure book or whatever term they use today. Thank you for this conversation, it is long overdue.

Well, I think the definition of the word junk journal has changed over time as well, what do you think? I prefer being creative with whatever I like and have instead of spending time finding definitions.... This community is so wonderful, let's just have fun together!

This"foolproof recipe" reminds me of how my German grandmother taught me to make Christmas cookies by the hundreds!! She took flour, sugar, salt, butter and vanilla to make several batches of cookie "base". Then the "helpers" picked a cookie "base" and added chocolate chips, raisins, jelly, powdered sugar, sprinkles, or icing or even cut out different shapes. The results all had something similar about them (cohesion), but were each unique creations (creativity). And holy moly were they delicious! Thank you for serving up such a delicious Halloween/Summer treat from your "4-Michelin-Star Junk Journal Restaurant"!! I have a weekly reservation for each one of your videos!!🥳

Amazing Amazing!! I love how you referenced like a cooking recipe and how sometimes you want to adapt it and sometimes you keep it as the recipe indicates. Such a good analogy to use in this junk journaling recipe. Your explanations are like no one else and it’s such a treat for us viewers because then we can understand the concept and easily begin to use it ourselves unlike just copying what your make was….we understand more the thought process. I love all you make and you’re not only a talented creator of art but talented in how you share your ideas and teach us so we can enjoy it even more ourselves. Luise, you always bring the creativity. I have that Bigz die (Tattered Floral) and it's tucked away. (Taking it out, now!!!). I love how using that die, in the same color pallet, but different ways, adds some continuity to the journal. Your "how to's" never disappoint! Happy Crafting! Michelle/byBruton

I am always grateful for your freebies. I’m still running this video in my mind to understand the recipe. I think what I would do is to choose a page with some layered detail(s) and use them on another page but change up the individual elements so each page is unique and stunning in its own way. I’ve not done it yet, however, I like the idea of creating and following a journal “recipe.” I think, it would make putting pages together a bit more thought through, rather than just being totally random, making the journal more cohesive yet slightly different. Your example shows me this. Thanks again for your helpful tips while being creative and spontaneous. You’re truly a fabulous artist and I’ve learned so much from you, Luise. Once I download and print my order, I’m going to have an absolutely wonderful time creating a special Halloween junk journal for my younger Big Kid, Jenn. Actually there are junk journal police. They are called the Washi police, When you don't use real Washi tape because it is printed as a strip on paper and doesn't come in a roll of adhesive rice paper! (Hence we call THAT kind of tape Faux-shi tape. I would gather that the TH faux cellephane tape would also be a Faux-shi, but I think it's great when we come up with new words when there are new kinds of products or applications. It means the community is talking and listening!) In any case, I would say overall Luise is right. There are no JJ Police. Noone would dare, because if they did... all junk journalers the world over, would junk all over such comments, so such an officer would be swimming in signatures, glue sticks, and paper ephemera! And then there are the dingle dangles so WATCH OUT! ❤

Consider saying SIMPLER instead of "more simple". Also consider the word COMPLEXITY and DISPLAY and DEMONSTRATE. Consider also the word FRAYED. I love how the floral and leaf cluster turned out. It's very very beautiful.
