The Protest Announcement [Arabic Below - نص الدعوة باللغة العربية بالأسفل]
Today, militarism creeps its way into our hospitals. Recalling the documented attacks by soldiers on an emergency doctor at Tripoli’s Dar al Shifaa Hospital.
Today, militarism finds its way into our houses. Beginning with Fawwaz Al-Samman, who was killed after clashes with the Lebanese army amidst a protest in Tripoli, when his only sin was defending his right for a decent life under the deteriorating economic and living standards in Lebanon.
Today, militarism threatens our physical and psychological well-being. Noting, with deep concern, the many detainees from various Lebanese regions, notably Tripoli, Saida, Zahle and Al-Matn, that were subjected to severe torture and violence during their arrest and within the transportation mechanisms and places of detention of the Military Intelligence.
Today and every day, we strongly condemn the militarisation of the country, reject army hysteria, and call for transparent investigations with regards to various abuses by the army. We denounce the fascist state, which takes advantage of the Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces to attack, torture, and kill activists in defence of the tyrannical authority. The fascist state, which not only falsely promises the thorough investigation of the crimes and violations, but keeps utilizing same forms of ferocity to stay in power.
Today and every day, we say, no to militarization! And based on our rejection to these measures, we:
1- Refuse any investigation of protestors, civilians in the military court, and particularly at the hands military intelligence. As civilians, we are subject to the mandate of civilian courts.
2- Call upon the investigation of all violations at the hands of military officers, including but not restricted to the murder of Fawaz Samman, the abuse of a doctor in a hospital, and the torture/arbitrary abuse of all demonstrators.

يتوغل العسكر أكثر وأكثر في حياتنا اليومية، ويضع نفسه كسد لحماية الطبقة الفاسدة المسؤولة عن معاناتنا ومصائبنا. وقد تم توثيق عسكريون يعتدوا بالضرب على طبيب الطوارئ في مستشفى دار الشفاء بطرابلس. كما يعتدي الجيش على المواطنين السلميين، ويقتحموا بيوتنا ويخرقوا خصوصيتنا، وأدى استخدامهم للعنف وإطلاق الرصاص على المتظاهرين السلميين الى استشهاد فواز السلمان في طرابلس، حين كان يمارس حقه بالتظاهر كمواطن ضد الظروف الاقتصادية والمعيشية المتدهورة في لبنان. هذا التدخل الخطير للعسكر في حياتنا يهدد نسيجنا الاجتماعي، وسلامتنا الجسدية والنفسية. تعرض معتقلون في طرابلس وصيدا وزحلة والمتن للتعذيب الشديد والعنف اثناء اعتقالهم من قبل مخابرات الجيش.
ومع كل هذه الممارسات، ندين بشدة هذه الأفعال الإعتباطية للجيش، ونطالب:
١- كف أي تحقيق مع المتظاهرين/ات مدنيين/ات ضمن المحكمة العسكرية، وأجهزة المخابرات. فنحن كمدنيين معنيين فقط بالمحاكم المدنية.
٢- فتح تحقيق شفاف (واصدار النتائج فوراً) بخصوص كل المخالفات على يد الضباط والعناصر، مما تتضمن قتل فواز سمّان، والتعدي على طبيب في المستشفى، وتعذيب المتظاهرين.
