Ali Dia you have to admire his audicity I was at this game in the mid 90s and remember him coming on for matt le tissier who pulled a hamstring early in the first half then dia was later substituted in second half for ken monkou obviously for his poor performance. Saints lost 2-0 at the dell gary kelly first goal from a free kick and lee sharpe following up with a late winner in the 90 minute George Graham first game in charge . People always go on about "imagine if he'd scored..." but he was never going to put that away from that angle against a Premiership keeper. He should have squared it, with two players having made runs into the box and in great positions. That sort of poor decision-making is exactly what you would expect from a player who was just about good enough to play in the Northern League.
