No Elliott, thats definitely why the game went how it went. VT had his quote in the locker room after he said it. Each sack and hit was personal. Each touchdown was a message. Teach your young QB that until he starts winning more games, don't write checks he can't cash.
UVA doesn't care about this football program, so why should I. I was going to multiple games a year but why would I drive an hour and a half to watch this? It's not the fault of the fans, it's starts all the way at the top. The school thinks that just because they brought in someone like Tony Bennett to coach the basketball team, that they can recreate that magic with the football team. Football is a whole different animal. Look at some of the stories surrounding Texas A&M right now and the money they're willing to throw at Kirby Smart to lure him out of Georgia. Guaranteed money. Virginia's football team is on fire and they're trying to spit on it to put it out. Might as well drop down to Division 3.
The Hokies came and showed out again! We will keep pounding the Wahoos year in and year out. Let their be no joy in Whooville, this year nor next year nor the next etc. We will continue beating the brakes off yall
Grew up watching and rooting for UVA until I chose to attend the College of Engineering at VPI in 1987. Unless the Hokies are playing UVA, I root for UVA and all of the other Commonwealth schools. UVA fans need to demand better from the AD and Athletic Department. Since VT, Miami and BC joined the ACC; UVA has only 6 winning seasons compiling a 106-136 (0-1 ACC championship) record with a 2-5 bowl record and only finishing twice within the Top 25. Best bowl was the Orange Bowl loss in 2019 and best bowl win was 2018 Belk. Compare that to VT (166-94) with 4 ACC titles and a meh 7-10 bowl record (Wins in Orange, Chick-fil-A, Gator and Belk); ten Top 25 finishes (four Top 10's) UVA went big on Basketball and left the football program to list and sink. The Commonwealth needs VT, UVA, JMU and Liberty to excel in football for revenue, grants and donations. Kind of sad that JMU and Liberty are the Flagship programs this year.
Really pathetic. A complete horror show from beginning to end. They played great against Duke, Miami, North Carolyn and Louisville and then this? Clueless coaches and sleep walking prideless players. I'm nauseous just thinking about it.
It’s no rivalry. It hasn’t been for two decades. All of you that think that we are only a new head coach away from REALLY being a legitimate rivalry to VT, you are C R A Z Y. It hurts me to say it but No coach with any promise would want the UVa job. We need to suck it up and keep a coach long enough to stabilize the program and recruiting and hope we can get back to 6/7 wins and bowl eligibility. That’ll take years. Be realistic.
My feeling exactly. Why forego everything else to compete in one sport with a school who has "NEVER" won a national championship in anything. De-emphasise big time college football and concentrate on being what you are and that is a well rounded university.
What you say is a lie, Bronco had them to six wins by year two. Stop with the lame excuses. UVa is the better overall school and it's time to show priority to the athletics that matter. No excuses.
@@noglu106 Yeah concentrate on women’s sports, tennis, swimming, and other sports nobody could care about. Keep riding on the myth of undergraduate academic prestige which by the way Virginia Tech has closed the gap of. Average Tech grad has a higher starting income than the average UVA grad. UVA basketball has been nothing but disappointment as well these past few years.
@@toshow237And keep riding the myth that tech will ever be on the level of UVa athletics wise. Remember National Championships they matter. Tech has 0 in any team sport enjoy.
@@brucecampbell4528 You fans that make such a big deal out of instant turnarounds and winning this game in particular (and the shortsighted, cowardly staff that pander to them), are the reason we are here. Lie? It’s called nuance. If they would have let Bronco the hell alone he might have this team to the point we’re were a consistent 6 or seven win team and maybe playing VT competitively. But y’all had to have your pound-of-flesh when he lost the VT game and required him to jettison his coordinators. He was smart enough to see how weak-minded and short sided this organization was and he just left. Now…UVa football is exactly where it deserves to be based on those decisions that they made years ago. Keep it up. Don’t learn from your mistakes. Firing Elliot this soon is just another self destructive step to having VT hand you your ass every year for the next half-decade
Glad he admitted that they were not ready to play! They really didn’t seem to understand how much this game means. Coaches and players. Just no effort today! Players looked like they were mad they didn’t get to go home for Thanksgiving!
Maybe next time don’t let your freshman qb give the VT defense another reason to play. Unbelievably stupid and amateurish. He got trucked all game by four pass rushers.
His first year, he didn’t have a full recruiting period (due to Clemsons success), bronco dropped to program and left, bunch of our players left, three of his better players were sadly taken from us too soon, causing another recruiting drop, the athletic director and academic standards for uva prove they don’t care about the program (they gave them a practice facility, cool good players don’t come just bc of that). We can’t fire them just yet, but if next year is the same then obviously, but uva has a loser culture that we need to destroy. I hope and believe it will be like basketball, be irrelevant to champs (or at least bowl appearances).
Tony Elliot is the perfect fit for UVA .. And that undersized qb that looks like the nerd kid from the movie Breakfast club ,who talked all that trash about Va. Tech , hopefully for him he learned a lesson ..too soon for him , needs to bulk up and get some experience before writing those checks 😆😆. Again Elliot is perfect for y’all . That was a great game last night 🎉
Can’t keep firing coaches because of bad seasons. It takes time to build a good program. George Welch didn’t have much success when he started. True UVA fans should have more faith and confidence that UVA football will be back on the map. So quick to judge. I like CTE. Give him a chance. He should make some changes to coaching staff. Stop with the firing comments and let CTE do his job. I believe in CTE and so should true UVA fans. Next year!!! Go Hoos!
He's had time, if you can't make it to a bowl game after two years its done it's over. They made no progress this year. Stop living in the fantasy world.

They completely killed the fan base multiple times with the horrible Mike London years. Telling life long season ticket holders they will have to donate money to keep their seats. Terrible fan appreciation all around. It was so bad this year they were selling Duke game tickets for 1 dollar a piece to UVA staff and gave away tickets to schools and the place was still empty. Football is dead and UVA killed it
Did this guy just say this was his funnest years in coaching??? Was someone cracking funny jokes on the sidelines or what was he talking about?? He didn’t look like he was having fun when I saw him on Tv. Maybe he was talking about that huge pay day he got from Uva. How can you expect to get any good recruits at all with Tech dominating us every year and now JMU on the map?? Not to even mention the transfer portal and the stupid academic standards uva has for its athletes. Why won’t UVa tell us why Bronco really left?? He had built a winning program. In my opinion I think it’s tied to the events that lead to the tragedy last year. If those dudes bullied Chris Jones then Bronco could have known something. Dude just dipped out of town and left. Whole story is so weird. What a dumpster fire
tony's favorite phrase is "i gotta do a better job of that". at first it was nice that he was taking accountability. at this point i'm sick of hearing it
Total wins in two seasons still doesn’t qualify for a bowl game 😂. Absolutely crazy to think of 4 years ago where the program was heading to see it where it is now
Wow, 2nd season and y'all want him gone? Uva fans said the same about Bronco. And by the time he quit, y'all was saying he needs to stay. UVA fans smdh
@@brucecampbell4528 your right, but Broncos last to seasons y'all struggled to get to wins, y'all was pretty low in the recruiting board and now you have a HC who's trying to change the system (Just like Pry did for VT) from it's last staff.. Y'all don't have all the pieces that's needed yet, but now you have time to get in the transfer portal and get there. All I'm saying is it might take more time than UVA fans think.. That's the words of the "understanding VT" fan. But as a realist, I think it wasn't a good ideal for UVA to hire Elliott in the first place. I joke that football wise UVA wise, y'all try to copy VT to much. Especially with VT hiring of Pry and UVA trying to hire Poindexter. But I also think Poindexter would of been a better right that fits and understands the culture of UVA like Pry and VT. Elliott tried to come to VT when his QB left and the AD said NOPE.. Which is why he's now at UVA.
The key words are”are they showing improvements? 3-9 is not an improvement. Hokies are 6-6 now with a bowl which is an Improvement with their coach pry as opposed to last year . Do you get it? Don’t need to win all your games. Show improvement!
fr, I’ve met him and he’s genuinely a great man and just a nice person. can’t expect him to turn around a falling program within two years joining. rebuilding takes time and we accomplished some huge wins. we have the talent, and i bet you we will be better next year. a lot of you guys who instantly turn on him after a loss do not attend the school currently, and are definitely not hands on with their team, something to note when you are feeling invested enough to comdemn the entire coaching staff
He does seem like a great person but he's not producing wins and he's getting paid millions to do just that. Not that long ago we played in the ACCCG followed by an orange bowl and 2 years ago we were in position in November to win the Coastal so I'm not sure he inherited as big of a mess that people think. Who cares If we "almost" beat Louisville, Miami, NC State, BC....THEY LOST and just got BLOWN OUT at Scott against a mediocre VT team coming off his FIRST ACC home win (lol) after TWO years against Duke without their star QB and we had something like 120 yards in penalties (referencing lack of discipline).that has much to do with coaching.
He's faced adversity that most can not imagine. He deserves another year for managing these broken hearts. We need to get some linemen out the portal and we'll be ok...
As a former player I can tell you there is a lot of homosexuality in the town and it is bringing down the entire community all the way to Zion crossroads. The last arrest was very near. It is disgusting.

Hey Mr Elliot, and no I won't call you coach, tell Mincers and the bookstore to stop selling UVA gear. You have made it impossible to wear a V hat or shirt in this state for another year. Someone should have told you this is your most important game. You were a bad hire from the jump. You coddle your black pkayers and yell at all the brown and white ones. This is a highly academic school, we need a smart coach.
