@@dad1535 I think he meant that the historical materialist analysis of the situation and why the people were unhappy was the true reason the video got reported. Right-wingers probably got offended that the video criticized fascist dictatorships sponsored by the US
I´m form El Salvador and I showed my mother who lived through the war and she agreed with everything said here. She even told me a story for context: General José Alberto Medrano, along with his forces, dressed themselves as monks to cross into Honduras riding on donkeys. After crossing he went on to fight in the battle that crippled the Honduran airforce at Toncontin International airport.

I told my father if this was true (he’s salvadorian) and he was embarrassed to admit that it was true lol. He told me to ask my grandpa about it cause he knows more of what happened.
I am Honduran but my grandmother was from El Salvador (and her parents were salvadoreans that had settled here) at the time of the war she was a recent widow (my Honduran gramps having died the previous year) and she was terrified of being deported as she would be separated from her 6 Honduran born children. My grandpa's brother was in the supreme Court and helped her not be sent away but my dad who was 12 at the time, was very close to loosing both of his parents in the span of a year and a half.
naw, the british mainly used the Harrier Jet and the Argetinian AF used a combination of A4 Skyhawks, Mirage III, IAI Dagger, and Super Entenard fighter jets
Fun fact: When the UN called a meeting discussing whether Taiwan should be recognised internationally as a country or not, El Salvador was the one and only country who voted for them to be recognised.
I’m a Honduran, and my dad talks about this all the time. I searched it up, and found this video. Thanks for explaining, because I had no idea what the hell he was talking about. Thanks lol
@@waruiseishin953 It doesn't work like that. Wars are for politics reasons not linguical reasons. We still don't get a long that well. Again for political reasons.
In this instance in that year, it was greedy banana companies "from the U.S." not the U.S. who took most of the market there. That is still inexcusable for sure, but don't blame us all.. **Edit* Wow did this get a lot of likes for a sub comment. Edit 6/11/2021*** Still getting some comments still claiming that the banana companies in the U.S. ARE the U.S. While they are Indeed American, Doesn't mean they represent the whole country... They make up thousands of people with their decisions in the hands of a handful of people. Not hundreds of thousands or even hundreds of millions... Such horrifically narrow mindsets....
My grandpa was a high ranking military official in El Salvador during the time of the war. I'm not sure exactly how it happened, but he ended up being stationed in Honduras and got like 15 Honduran women pregnant. So we have A LOOOOOOT of family in Honduras we have never met. Edit August 2020: Hey guys! So seeing the reaction I got from this, I asked my great Auntie what the deal was with my grandfather and why he got so many confirmed women pregnant (yes, there's potentially more!) I learned that at the time my grandfather spent a lot of time in Honduras with Salvadoran settlers. At the time that the war happened, there has been a rumor around the villages that El Salvador was on the brink of becoming a US state, and it was thought that any children fathered by Salvadoran men or born to Salvadoran women would be automatic citizens. This of course, was a lie, but that didn't stop droves of beautiful young Honduran women throwing themselves at an officer. The hope was that if their children had citizenship, the mothers would somehow find a way into the country legally as well. Update September 2022: Hey everyone. In the last year I've done a fair bit of travel to Honduras and El Salvador, and I've been able to meet 3 families in Honduras that are made up of descendants of my grandfather. They reside in the Yoro and Valle departments. It's been wonderful getting to know my family, and although I've tried to get them to do a video diary with me, most of them aren't interested in doing it and are very shy. So I'll keep trying, maybe next year when I go back. Most of them are very sweet and have embraced me and they have a great sense of humor about the whole thing. I'll update this post if anything cool happens.
Not sure why, but this video is now showing a warning on it about how it may have suggestions for self-harm and suicide in it, not sure why that is, but thought you should know if you didn't already.
The war thing is for barely legitimate leaders of corrupt South American countries. If you're in Central America, you gotta blame something else. I don't make the rules.
2:06 nah man this had nothing to do with the tension, this is just typical CONCACAF behavior; they still do it today. Fireworks, pulling the fire alarm, throwing projectiles, and otherwise harassing the opposing team all night before the game.
El Salvador: Dude! What are you doing to my people??? Honduras: They aren't your people because they are on my territory. El Salvador: THEY CAME FROM ME! Meanwhile some hundred miles away... America: Look at those countries talking so nicely to each other. Maybe they are talking about new ways to ship me bananas.
This isnt actually why this war started, the war happened because el salvador wanted to expand its border to hit both oceans. Also el salvador had zero air capabilities and got their asses handed to them, this video is WILDLY inaccurate
@@alexluna974 "Wildly inacurate" when all the recorded history supports it. Or what El Salvador took land from Honduras? Not it was the other way around and recently the island rabit "conejo" that Honduras took from El Salvador makes clear who is hostile one. Nicaragua saved Honduras in this war so.....

My great grandmother was an immigrant that went to Honduras to find work and after the war erupted she was among the huge wave of Salvadorans returning to El Salvador. She survived this war and the Salvadoran Civil War and has passed away yesterday September 7th 2020 due to the Coronavirus here in Texas. Her memory will always live on. Adios Abuelita 💕
I'm sorry to hear that. This country failed millions with it's handling of COVID-19. We all know someone who's either almost died or has actually died from it. May she rest in forever peace.
As a Salvadoran myself I’m impressed how you really oversimplified the whole situation both countries now understand that our problems come from corrupt politicians a we deeply love each other

Soccer and football are both just slang terms for what the sport is actually called, association football. The term soccer originated from the country where the sport's first rules were formalized, England, so any Europeans triggered by the term soccer are frankly kind of ignorant. It's like calling rugby football "rugger" which people did, and probably still do in many places. What Americans call football is again just a slang term for what the sport is actually called, gridiron football. Soccer, rugger, and gridiron (not to mention Gaelic, Austrailian rules, and dozens of others around the world) are all closely-related sports split off from the same basic ancient football game before various leagues started publishing official rulebooks.
