The Foothill Gold line project
The Foothill Gold line project is a light rail being constructed from Glendora to Montclair that will extend the Metro Gold Line by 12.3 miles and add stations in the cities of Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont, and Montclair. It is to be constructed in phases.
Montclair to Los Angeles will take approximately 75 minutes
Once completed, a trip from Montclair to downtown Pasadena will take just over 40 minutes and further to Los Angeles will take approximately 75 minutes.
Planning began in 2003,
Planning for the Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair began in 2003, and the Final Environmental Impact Report was certified by the Construction Authority under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in March 2013
The entire 12.3-mile, six-station project from Glendora to Montclair is not yet fully funded. The westernmost 9.1-mile, four-station project segment from Glendora to Pomona however is fully funded.
In October 2019, the Construction Authority initiated the main design-build contract with Kiewit-Parsons, a Joint Venture (KPJV) to build the fully-funded 9.1-mile Glendora to Pomona project segment
The Glendora to Pomona project segment 50% complete
The Glendora to Pomona project segment is now more than 50% complete and scheduled for completion in 2025.
Four new light rail stations are under construction along the Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Pomona. Each will have parking, and all will be turned over to Metro in early 2025.
Project cost US$798 million
The Construction Authority continues to seek the funding needed to complete this final project segment, which as of late 2022 is estimated to cost $798 million.
