It's basically classical right hand technique that's slightly modified.

I think his English is kind of poor. but he does have students that he teaches.

@@DanJakeElefant he has explained in interviews that he uses both a "bassistic" technique (with his right thumb "anchored" on a humbucker ring) that he developed when he began as a self-taught player, and the classical guitar technique that he was taught in high school. He switches between them. For example, he uses the first for scalar runs, and the second for arpeggios and string skipping.

Absolutely stunning and very much like Holdsworth playing especially when he played with soft machine. But Matteo also very unique and shown us that he can play so many guitar styles/genres. He’s just so refreshing and i’m so thankful someone finally here to lead the way for jazz fission/ progressive rock for our generation

Absolutely Bob. One of the most fluid players I have ever seen. I'm 62, grew up with fusion jazz and played guitar (on an amature level) since I was 15. This guy is so good at his age it makes me look like the only thing I have learned on the guitar is how to successfully play out of tune, out of key or break an occasional string. At least I have that going for me!

His influences are everybody. He's a total listener and that's why he's so damn good. If people would really listen to other people talk like he listens to other guitar players we wouldn't have any problems. Listen to him play Room 335 by Larry Carlton. The credit to each other must be pretty high

Matteo, simply a superior mind. Everything starts from the brain. Technique, musical creative ideas, phrasing, musicality and more are direct consequences. First of all, he has an incredible head, that's what I think. In every musical genre his performance is the top.

If you listen to him play FIVES by Guthrie Govan to me it sounds like all of the fast stuff is smoother than Guthrie and his solo is as good or better. That is very rare for guys on this level. Usually when copying other players the best they can achieve is an OK copy of the original. But when they actually play it as good or better than the original it is golden. Matteo is a golden player!

This guy is dangerous in the daytime. I would hate to meet Matteo in a dark alley with only a guitar to defend myself with. It would be like bringing a knife to an Atomic Bomb fight. Everything I have seen him do so far is incredible. An amazing talent!
