Gebisa Ejeta, a Distinguished Professor of Plant Breeding & Genetics and International Agriculture at Purdue University, has taken Giant Leaps in feeding the developing world. Born and raised in Ethiopia, he grew up familiar with the unfortunate problems facing developing countries: poverty and food insecurity. After experiencing these circumstances firsthand, Gebisa was determined to make Giant Leaps. Ejeta’s scientific discoveries have allowed millions to be fed in developing countries. In summer of 2018, he was appointed chair of the World Food Prize Laureate Selection Committee. His Footprints are leading the way to solve a global challenge.
