One of the many things that are so great about Sergio Leoni films, is the introductions & character developments. He is NEVER afraid to take as much time as needed to show us the nature of the principle characters, these films were made in times when pacing wasnt hurried at break neck speed the way it is in today's film making, where nothing can ever wait, & nearlt everything is confusing, Leoni makes very long films but that are never boring (something VERY hard to do) he is the best story teller
One of the best scores of all time, and probably my favorite spaghetti/euro western! Lee Van Cleef + Clint Eastwood, just can’t go wrong with that combo! Indio is a morphin addict, the gun given to the man who's family were murdered was loaded with blanks, there is also clever religious symbolism, that may not seem to suite a violent Western, but again Leoni manages to get it to work. I also liked the fact that Colonel Mortimer had a different agenda (being older & wiser) from Eastwood,s as it turned out an impressive surprise.
What I love is how Sergio Leone takes the standard western tale, and then elevates it to operatic status, with every street becoming a battlefield, every gunshot sounds like a cannon blast, and there's a grand epicness about it all that's just amazing.
Yeah I’ve always thought how Manco never dipped out on his new friend. The bond they shared through these tough experiences. Mortimer may have lost his sister. His quest for vengeance was rewarded with a Brother in Arms in Manco.

Great reaction! Three really good Italian westerns are They Call Me Trinity (1971), Trinity Is Still My Name (1972) and My Name is Nobody (1973), which all star Terence Hill. The first two are western comedies. In the last one Henry Fonda costars.
I cannot hear the watch's music without breaking out into tears. 😢 Fun Fact: When Colonel Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef) disembarks from the train, the La Calahorra castle can be seen in the distance. It is visible just to the left of the locomotive. Bonus Fact: The location shoots, which were intended to represent far west Texas near the Mexican border, took place the southeastern coast of Spain, approximately one hundred twenty miles from Algeria, North Africa.
