Alrighty! So this video goes out to all of our senior friends who may have thought that their medical issues were getting in the way of taking the leap of grand adventure!
.
DISCLAIMER!! Old Bear and I are NOT doctors and we are NOT giving any medical advice. We are simply explaining the devices and some of the medication that my Dad's doctors have prescribed him. Please consult your primary care provider for more information or guidance. Thank you!
.
As previously stated, this video we dive into the devices and some medication Old Bear will be taking on trail with him. He talks about his CPAP, glucose (blood sugar) monitor, and his INR device. He also briefly explains how he's been affected since he's had 2 strokes and the medication he's been issued to help prevent future ones.
.
Old Bear hopes that by sharing this, you'll see that it is possible to hit the trail! You just may need a little help from your doctor and some upgraded technology! :)

Funny you mentioned Dixie...she uses a CPAP as well. Thankfully I don't need all of this yet but great to see there are options to make you and your family feel more comfortable.

That's right, she does! Yes I'm super glad that he was able to get his devices and meds all sorted so that we could hike together:)

I was starting to develop sleep apnea. 5'9" around 200lbs and heard that weight is a factor so I stopped drinking coke and taking any sugar went from 200 down to 160 and sleep apnea is gone. Blood pressure meds gone. That's the solution do whatever you can to make it happen. And of course I started hiking all the time in NH which is why I'm watching hiking videos :). Good luck!

Hopefully you can find a lighter power cord for your unit. I have a Transcend mini 3, with 2 of the 16hr batteries. With the wall charger it weighs a little over 4 pounds. But it lets me get out there! Looking forward to your journey!

thanks for this video, very interesting. Question I have, I saw this portable Cpap before, but it looked like it needed to be plugged in with a regular outlet. Also how will the power bank be charged up after the 16 hr life? thank you again and best of luck on both yours hike.

Dad has a Cpap that has its own battery pack. It also has a plug for the wall. So the plan is for him to use the battery pack on trail, charge it up in town, and I would carry a personal battery pack and help him keep it charged.

Are you carrying any special bandages for deep cuts, etc. since you are on a blood thinner? I take xarelto as a blood thinner.
