Great watches these Dan I’ve got 4 and have had others over the years. One of the other biggest killers on these is the screw driver slip onto the coil. Don’t let a mall battery change guy onto one of these for this reason. Great to see a quartz diver coming up for service.
I did that "screw driver slip" already so now I need a new coil. Any suggestion where I can get that? I have asked in several watch repair shops and they don't have spare parts to this 40 year old watch.
I picked up this week a bit of an enigma, a Pulsar Y563 diver that came on an original plastic Seiko diver strap, also has screw down crown and there are jewels on the movement too, oddities are the extra thick crystal and the bi-directional bezel but the case is identical to a couple Seiko models including what appears the base of a 6309 I have. I paid £10 for the old thing and is working perfectly other than needing a new crystal so in total 10 minutes work cleaning, a few minutes to whap the old crystal and a £10 new one and I got a Seiko made diver for £20 :)
