4:04 I respectfully disagree. Centurion is an IN YOUR FACE hero and he absolutely needs to make sure that distance is closed at all times. Yes there are times when you can wait on your enemy to come forward and make a mistake, like when fighting a turtle or so, but it should never be your default as Cent. You want those combos, you want that stamina punish, you want that damage he can deal, and he can't do ANY of that if he's not at least breathing down the enemy's faceplate, especially against Nobu. The only real time gaining distance is acceptable during a battle is if you're trying to bait your enemy, but do not throw attacks when you're out of range. It lets the enemy know what your preferred moveset is right off the bat, and if you're fighting an enemy Cent in a mirror match, predictability is like painting a target on your chest and standing still in a fight. If the Cent is able to predict the enemy's tendencies, like when they dodge or if they prefer to light, or if they like to bash or go for deflects, then he has already won half the battle. To apply knowledge of your foe against them, and charge your heavies when you expect them to dodge to catch them in the chain again, and to use your GBs for the two pommel hit and throw, then a kick followup into a free light and heavy punch, etc, is why I love Cent so much. He fights up close because Centurion is not afraid, he is powerful and great in the right hands and eyes that can read the human behind the hero. Distance is NOT his friend.

So quick question about cent. I’m not new but I have little to no experience with him because tbh he seems painful to use against people like pirate, kyoshin, valk, and afeera. But how come you don’t just take your guaranteed heavy when you gb and instead opt for stamina pressure? I feel like landing 3 heavies on 3 gbs would be better than pommel striking, no? Also every time I play him I have a lot of issue getting my feints to work, is there any reason why his attacks are hard to feint for me or am I just bad lmao
You have to feint really early into his charge, also, you’re right. Getting the guaranteed heavy after guardbreak is the way to go, but for me, the Lion’s Roar is just a ton of fun and a little bit of force of habit lol.

That’s interesting, I have a habit of just doing it late in a normal heavy animation so that’s definitely where I’m messing it up. Thanks for the insight! I’m not super used to stamina pressure either so cent is like a 100% rewiring of my play style but he’s very cool so I would like to learn him
The reason Cent seems weak against Pirate, Kyo, Valk and Afeera is because those are all hard to parry characters, and Cent needs his parries to dominate on the battlefield and crush the opposition. He's all about counters and chain attack mixups based on what you know about the enemy, like if they dodge on reflex or light on reflex when faced with a scary attack. With those four, getting this knowledge and parrying attacks can appear difficult, but nothing a little training with a bot in an arena can't fix.
I’ve come to notice that most enemy Warmongers love to go for the finisher light on hit registration from openers. So when that first hit lands, prepare for that follow-up light that USUALLY goes top.
