Lmao since beta kensei was the second best character back in beta he was fast and had a hard hitting heavy chain with armor or a free damage if the enemy cant dodge nobody could parry back then
This rework will definitely make Kensei more competitive. Tbh a part of me will miss the original moveset and that beating any other character with Kensei meant you were just a better player.
I hope those fuckers in the dev team adjust the speed of the atracks for consoles, or there will be problems once again, but kensei needed this rework for a while now.
Since open beta kensei has always been an insanely fun character with a lot of potential in my eyes. With kensei being underpowered players had to learn how to play mind games with there opponents in order to gain an edge. And now with the kensei's abilities being brought up to par with the rest of the roster, that edge just got sharpened. I can't wait for this. 😁 what I CAN wait for is all the people screaming "NEW MAIN" after dissing kensei for so long and now they're just like "oh he's cool now I want to use him" 😑
Cytamis Pre- rework Kensei’s were just gb and light spam. Anyone who tried anything fancy got crushed. At least in my experience. Good to see kensei has great mix up potential.
For Honor is not honorable you can usually throw in some heavies and if you got your opponent open enough you could usually soft get your whole chain in and do an unlockable and either soft feint or let it fly, but yeah there are quite a lot of kensei's who just light spam all the time and it's super annoying so hopefully that stops a little now.😂
I stopped maining kensei for one reason, options. I switched to shinobi to have a broader moveset with a LOT of mixups. Then I went to aramusha, then back to shinobi. I played kensei a lot still but he was very lacking in 1vganks. Now that he has so much more, time to pull him back in more often. (im still maining shinobi but I will use kensei way more often)
Kensei looks like he's stepping up as a me challenger in the arena. Looking forward to see what they do with zerker, cause I thought he was in a good place. Super glad to see more For Honor content out of ya. By far some of the best FH coverage on the tube. Thank you.
Glad youre still covering for honor. And ive tried monster hunter solely on your recommendation you did say you were moving on from covering this game but its still appreciated when you come back for the major updates at least. Keep it up papa bouse
Gud Hunter As a Gladiator main, I hate it. It's basic, and it doesn't even utilise his weapon, or buckler for that matter. My dream execution for Gladiator is this: When the execution starts Gladiator removes the trident as he normally does and stabs his target into the torso like he's using the Skewer Used In Chains move, with both arms Gladitor rips the trident out through the right side of the victims body, he then comes back with his buckler and hits the foe with the boss of his buckler. As his now dead enemy falls down towards the ground Gladiator raises his trident and buckler, with his arms outstretched and shouts, "NONNE DELECTARI?" (Latin for: Are you not entertained?) He then returns to his weapon ready stance, preparing for his next challenger.
Jake M Greek gladiators also used similar armor and weapons So it can be either. Though I do hope we get a Greek hoplite eventually. Or an a kopesh wielding character
Yo Bouse, Kensei’s soft cancel into side light from his top unblockable is currently in the game and is listed, unlike his ability to soft cancel into a dodge/any dash attacks. His new zone looks like it’s lacking the old hyper armor too
Pretty sure that there is no side light soft cancel on the live Kensei UB finisher. A side heavy cancel into the side finisher sure, that's been there since launch. But no side light. I'm sure of it.
Lui Vela Yeah, the side heavy is a soft feint, a side light is a hard feint. That is not moveset specific nor is it unique, it is a core feature that can be replicated by anyone with a suitable chain finisher, unlockable or not. It's also suicidal in the live build because of how slow Kensei's side lights are. That was my point. The new side light cancel is a soft feint, not a hard feint and is new to the kit. EDIT: It has occurred to me that you might be referencing the dodge cancel into Swift Strike. That is not what I'm talking about, to be clear.
SO happy to see them reworking old character's mixups to bring them up to par with new heroes. I will definitely be spending more time on for honor once these reworks are implemented.
I'm glad you and Ubi fixed your relationship. Glad to see you back with the community. You & Shmolty are the only For Honor coverers i'll devote my loyalty to..
+BouseFeenux I’m glad to see that you made a decision about the whole For Honor shenanigans. I wish you the best going forward and hope you become a god kensei and find new joy in this game we love
Allkamist i see nothing too game changing, once you’ve fought a few and adjusted to the new kensei tech I think he’ll be a good mid-top teir but still not meta like the dlc heroes
Glad to hear your voice Bouse especially about FH, to all heros i have been playing, step aside! my boy kensi got a new awesome moves, it's your turn bouse to leave glad & return to kensi
I always had a soft spot for Kensei, but I only managed to get to rep 5 with him before getting tired of his awkward moveset. This is a huge improvement and definitely gives me another reason to play him again.
I've been playing Kensie since beta and I'm pumped about this! He'll finally be at the same level as all the 50/50 unblockable cancel guardbreak heroes.
Dunno if you'll get this comment, but I'm glad For Honor is getting the love that it deserves, even if it's after the fact. I quit the game a while ago (due to TV input lag), and I know things looked really rough for a long time. But I'm glad the devs haven't given up (like they had to do with Mass Effect, for example). And these changes look more promising than a lot of the changes I've seen in the past. Keep up the good work, and I hope that these updates put For Honor and you into a good place!
Bouse, you forgot one thing about his unblockable. In the devstream they demonstrated that you could cancel it into a front dashing heavy, as you could roll backwards to escape from him. Not anymore, as it chases them down really well
Played the game from day 1 to about mid season 2, played kensei exclusively. Gave up on the game waiting for dedicated servers and a better kensei. Proud to say I'll be buying the game back!
His guard also automatically transitions in the direction you dodge. So now you can actually make use of his superior block on dodge to guarantee a GB or light.
Quicksilver The whole deal with Kensei now being able to soft feint from a top heavy was what I actually wanted the Warden to have the whole time, especially the pommel strike! I think that moveset will suit the Warden better cause his top heavy is one of the slowest attacks in the game.
See! I told you all he was a timelord! Not only did he predict what was bopping in his video before last weeks(?) stream, but now he's given us gameplay from season 5... WE MUST PRAISE.
Yay! How is the timing for the soft feints tho? Still very early in animations? Cause you could always cancel into side light but it had no hyper armour or damage and required an immediate input it felt like and didn’t register half the time for me.
My question is how do you beat him? I’ve always had trouble with kensei. His range along with his dodge attacks destroy any chance I have of beating him with highlander.
One of the biggest changes is his superior block from the dodge, your stance now automatically changes to match the direction of movement so it will much easier to use now, more like a deflect. Not sure what u with be able to get from it but if the forward dodge secures a non teachable GB it's going to be op.
I'm beyond stoked as a person who's played Kensei since beta, He's been my main ever since, and holly hell it's finally nice to see him get some love! Shout out to all my fellow day 1 Kensei's! & not the typical hoards of people screaming my "new main" every time a new hero is released or one gets buffed. Let the bandwagoner's flock!
A well deserved rework, all kensei mains will now dominate the battlefield. the new fighting style is now looking like he is dancing with his sword and thats exactly what the kensei should be. now he realy is the swordsaint!
Bouse I gotta say, looks like you’re gonna be swamped making videos with For honor reworks and monster hunter weapons. Lookin forward to the great content bud!
Yes, but superior block works more like an assassin deflect now, meaning that you automatically block in the direction you're dodging. So it'll be easier to do it reactively but the forward dodge won't be as safe anymore (against PK f.e. when you forward dodge and guard right to catch her zone).
Hey bouse I noticed that his new moveset says the heavy finisher can be cancelled into GB. Does this mean we can soft feint it like Cent and Shaman by just pressing the GB input?
You always could do side lights and stuff out of his Unblockable mixups, it was just that all of his attacks came out super fast from the startup so it wasn't really good.
Yes, Ubisoft this is how you balance a game! You have to make every character overpowered, because then they're all super good. I don't know if overpowered is the right word, but I think you get the idea.
While his 400ms Pommel Strike is scary af, we still don't know how long he'll be stuck in recovery after whiffing it. And as far as I can remember, you can't soft feint out of it into gb.
I never understood why people always slept on kensei, I was undefeated in 1v1 fights with him the whole time I played for honor. I only ever lost in 2v2 fights when I got ganged up on. I stopped playing a while ago do to all of the issues the game had, but now I'm thinking about getting back into it again.
He did loose the uninterruptible on helm splitter so if it gets blocked you'll get the light block animation now. Not even close to outweighing the new benefits, but still felt it should be mentioned lol. Also theyre changing the superior block so we don't have to match the opponents guard anymore. Kinda importante
I think Valkyrie is in much need of a rework, I don’t think allowing her to cancel her shield sweep would be a bad chance, or at least allow her to be able to go into chains after it like most other heroes that whiff unblockables. Also her not having a heavy chain really limits her to only a few mixups
Meanwhile, as a Warden main, with 2 chains and a shoulder check. Man, Kensei really needed this buff... With his 180 dodge guardbreak free heavy. Or his dash heavy chain cancel into side heavy hyper armor. Meanwhile as warden.
They did that so that he doesn't get interrupted by block, 1, and 2, so that it has the heavy parry punish if it gets parried (allows for a light attack only because of the CBG from parry changes)
You shown off Nature's Wrath but didn't really explain how it can be useful. Its a chase option, say your opponent tries to roll away to avoid all of your options, it WILL follow and catch them. Not only that but you can also mix them up again from the top heavy when it lands, making it extremely difficult to get back into the neutral game because Kensei's in your face throwing mixups after mixups and he can chase you if you try to run. This is REALLY useful as it covers every defensive options, provided he can get into the situation where he can just start harassing you. Really big changes to Kensei's entire kit.
Honestly, he could always cancel into the side light attack from the unblockable. It was just useless before. Oh, and can you cancel the zone after the first hit? Great vid.
