This is how this song was always meant to be heard. This being my first time hearing this band, I am SO glad you recommended this one to me! This must be one of my favorite renditions of this song yet!
We were at a concert and Luke almost lost his child....he found his child in the crib not breathing and the called the ambulance and his wife prayed over their child and brought them back to life
One of the best Contemporary Christian groups around!!! Joel & Luke Smallbone are two brothers from Australia and yes they are even better live... One of my favorites of theirs is "Fix My Eyes".
I heard this song when it first made its way onto RU-vid about a decade ago. It has been a song I always have to listen to each and every year. It doesn’t have to be Christmas time but I do have to listen to it during the Christmas season. Little Drummer Boy has always been my favorite Christmas song since I can remember, so about 35 years
The first time I saw/heard for King and Country do this song was on CMA Country Christmas. It is still my favorite version (It is yet one more notch above this one) I wanted to say that your reaction and joy to this video gave me such JOY. These guys are great in all they do. And by the way that accordian looking instrument is a "harmonium". Google it, it's like a portable pump organ from churches of old.
I love the power (and variety) of drum parts, I love the bass, I love the addition of the xylophone adding a little Christmas to the song, and I love the abandon with which the singer dances on the stage with the tambourine. I think the “accordion” instrument is called a “shruti”.
Check out their live performance of this for the CMA Country Christmas. It is an even more energetic performance than this one...as hard as that may be to believe! It’s my favorite! They get a well deserved standing ovation!
Oh yes, you think you like this...get to the CMA performance video. Hmm hard to go more enthusiastic than you are, but you might dig up even a bit more watching CMA. Best version yet!
I have heard this song many, many times, BUT, never heard it done as beautifully, as this. Actually, it was never one of my favorites. ❤and, until this was done by these fella’s, I had never heard of them! Go to RU-vid, and you can see what wonderful work they do. There are several times they have repeated this, one in particular, using a young lad, in a field, at the end, leaving his drum for Baby Jesus. Very moving. It’s fantastic! P.s. I am 79 years old, and you can’t imagine how I dance around to this song…….all for Baby Jesus. Hugs, Bev in Maine
I took my daughter a couple weeks ago to see them in concert because she has been wanting to see them. Let me tell you I was blown away. They put on a great concert. I was so surprised that a contemporary Christian band could put on a concert like that. This was the last song that they sang.
I love that you loved this so much! For King & Country are younger brothers to 90's Christian music pop star, Rebecca St. James. Back in the day, I attended a few of her concerts, and got to hang out a bit with the family afterwards. I knew them as Joel and Luke--they've grown up in and around the music stage, and certainly know how to put on a show! Their showmanship and energy are just amazing, not to mention they're great singers as well. Enjoying your reactions to some of my favorite bands: PTX , Home Free and FK&C. Can't wait to see what you react to next!
Great reaction! Little Drummer Boy is my favorite Christmas song. The PTX version is my favorite version. Then, a few years later, this version came along. They are completely different, so I now have 2 favorite versions. For King & Country has some great songs, so after Christmas, maybe you can listen to more of their stuff. Their music is in the Contemporary Christian category, but they've had a couple songs go mainstream too.
Exquisitely crafted - a full experience with an incredible musical arrangement, lighting, stage presence... It's got it all. Takes a child's carol into a full musical piece for adults too
This has been my favorite version (and only one I really listen to anymore) since I 1st geard it about 3 years ago. It was so cool to watch someone experience it for the 1st time.
It's amusing to watch you watching it and get all excited about the parts we all got excited about the first time we saw this video. I think it's been out at least 3 years but it's fun to look at it with new eyes with you!
These guys are brothers! Luke(tall) and Joel Smallbone. I’ve seen them 7 times and have tickets for the 8th! You MUST go see them live! Check out their tour! For King and Country!
This is my favorite version of The Little Drummer Boy! It rocks my socks off, and all the percussion is just AWESOME! Great reaction! Really glad you reacted to this one! Hope you had a fantastic Christmas and may 2023 bring you health, prosperity and lots more reactions (of Home Free, preferably!) ! :D
I was a drummer in band in school, so I’ve always loved the drums. Hearing this version of little drummer boy well it’s the ultimate version. It’s how the song should be done Thanks for sharing ❤😊WOW
i Just saw For King And Country Little Drummer Boy live on Dec 11, 2021, There are no words at all that can describe it live!!! My second time seeing them live.
I haven't heard this version of the little drummer boy before. The first time I heard them was the song they sing with Dolly Parton called "God Only Knows". You should check that out its an awesome song. Also there is another version of The Little Drummer Boy by Carrie Underwood and her son Isaiah(5 yrs old at the time that you might enjoy.🎄
So many comments that For King and Country are from Australia - Joel, Luke, their 5 brothers and sister and their parents came to America as very young children. They are U.S. citizens and live in Nashville, Tenn.
And the first time I heard it/saw it I was a bit put off. It grows on you....by the 3rd time I was sold and our Dir. of Music was bold enough to perform it at a church Christmas concert.
To answer your question about having heard this song before, no, I never had. Like you, I am a creature of musical habit. Since discovering the wonderful world of reaction videos, my musical horizons have expanded so much. It’s been a joyful experience! This was wonderful!!
Glorious - Live From Phoenix, For King and Country, I’m telling you 👍🏻 , the light show build and the pause will awe you like this Little Drummer Boy does. At least I hope so! I may have just found that person who can say “ohhh YES” like I do over the finer points of a song! I’m lovin’ it! Merry Christmas!
Saw them Friday - awesome part of concert! Heard this couple of years ago and felt this was best Little Drummer Boy that I had heard! Still do. Burn the Ship is another good song/video! Hope other reactors watch their video! Thanks for reacting!
For King & Country is the top Contemporary Christian group in the U.S. and beyond. If you like drums they are the band to listen too as most of their music is very drum heavy. They sing a lot of songs that cross over into mainstream pop, because they are really good at writing songs about Christ, without them having the feeling of it being shoved down your throat. Joel and Luke Smallbone are brothers and they are from Australia, but grew up most of their lives in the TN. So if you detect an accent or different pronunciation of a word, Joel (trench coat) and Luke are few that don't lose their accents when they sing. They are and awesome group, they are AMAZING live and have tons of songs out there that you'd probably enjoy very much. Enjoyed your reaction a lot.
There is a full Christmas special floating around RU-vid and this is their opening song. I was shocked what a way to make an entrance. Plus, I agree... This is exactly how I always thought little drummer boy should be. And your reaction was priceless on that first "drum"...
Little Drummer Boy is my favorite Christmas song. Bob Seger's version was always my favorite. I still can't decide if this version beats it, since I heard it last year. This live version is the best from them, in my opinion.
Merry Christmas Man.. to you and your Loved Ones!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WATCHING YOU!!!!! My 1st time ever knowing of King and Country. So, You are not alone. Fanflippintastic!!!!
utterly amazing! Ive had tooth ache from hell this week, and my jingle jingle kinda got up and left but that sure bought it back with a bang!!! thank you for sharing
I'm so sorry to hear about your tooth. Amazing that such a small part of our body can make it seem that our whole body is in pain. "Toothfully", I'm "sore" you'll be "filled" with joy this season! You'll soon be "filling" much better soon! No "cap"!
@@larryshair oh my goodness... hahahaa... not only are you a damn good reactionary of fabulous music, you are also a vast board of cheeeeeeese! so funny! And thank you!
I just went to their concert at Kingdom Bound at Darien Lake near Buffalo. They ended the concert with this song and it did NOT disappoint!!! Loved the entire concert.
I'm so glad you went down this rabbit trail now you have to listen to oh come oh come Emmanuel and do you hear what I hear I hear bye for king and country. Also if you wanna just hear good music instrumental music try tran siberian orchestra, They are a rock orchestra.
Our church Festival Choir performed this version this weekend and I think some of the older folks walked out a bit dazed. Strobe lights highlighted the drummers and the snap ending resulted in a stunned silence then huge applause.
Your reactions just creases me up! Great rendition, never heard them before, will check out more. Thanks for cheering up a lot of people with your infectious enthusiasm 🤗
If you liked this song you should watch their live concert movie filmed in Texas. This video is good but doesn't begin to show how incredibly talented they are.
They actually have a newer version of this on their latest Christmas album that features Luke’s (curly hair) son on the drum as well… they built additional layers on the drums and it is so good! The official video tells a compelling story as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NzEX3QMuVPM.html
I LOVE For King and Country. I saw them in concert last year. It was awesome!! They are two brothers of 7 kids from Austrailia. Their family is very much involved in production. Other brothers do video, produce, etc. The genre is Contemporary Christian, even though they do other covers as well. Their older sister is Rebecca St. James, the Christian Contemporary artist. They did a song with Dolly Parton. A song they wrote called "God Only Knows."
Amazing group I saw them live back in high school and I got tickets again coming up in the next few months. but the instrument that you called a xylophone is actually called a glockenspiel.
I saw them Live in Ruston, LA! Talk about Energy! Three of the members are childhood friends from Ruston. The guitarist, Drummer in suspenders, and the guy on Xylophone. Everyone in the band play everything and run, jump and sing between instruments. It was amazing! Check any other, they're great! Fix my Eyes, Burn the Ships, O Come Emmanuel. Peace from LA, Cyndy
I have for SURE heard this before and have experienced For King & Country live several times! They are a phenomenal Christian band with several albums of gorgeous and heartfelt music. The 2 main singers are brothers. Additionally, they are brothers of another famous Christian artist, Rebecca St. James. They have also collaborated with a number of big stars outside of Christian music, like Dolly Parton and Tori Kelly. The deepness of their music will definitely bring you much joy if you continue this journey
Little drummer boys grown up big time!! Not a fan of the song but these guys make it awesome, there’s so much going on from all the different instruments to the vocals and the stage presence, absolutely cool. Love your enjoyment and reaction too
Well I think I get more tickled off watchin you react than video yes it was good never heard great drums I do wish the screen was bigger but love you keep up the good work
For KING and Country is one of the best contemporary Christian groups ever! One of my favorites! Their whole Christmas performance in Phoenix was where this video was taken from. They have the hour long concert on YT. AMAZING! I'm so excited you picked this song to do a reaction for!
I am so ecstatic you covered them! I love the version from PTX (the arrangement and voices of course), but this live version performed by For King and Country is AMAZING. I wanted to get out of my seat I was so energized by them. Loved all the instruments on stage. I had a blast reacting along with you.
My first time hearing this song. I follow 1 group, and think I have heard everything they have done. There are alot of individual songs that I listen to, but it is music. I just listen to radio or my little play list. Thanks for a great reaction. I appreciate your insights and enthusiasm in your reactions! 🤗😁😎
I found them for the 1st time 4 days ago. I was totally blown away by their performance. I viewed the performance for the CMA Christmas shown. It was a slightly more over the top than this one. I checked out some of their other videos. These boys are good and I will be listening to more of the songs
Never heard about this either... LOL This was really cool! Added to my Spotify playlist. Checking out more from them :-) Thanks for the reaction, buddy. TC :-)
@@larryshair I'm doing a little better actually. I'm hopeful that I can go to work on Monday. Thanks for asking! Very much appreciated :-) I hope YOU're doing well, too.
This has been my favorite rendition for the past several years. I am so glad that you found it and enjoy it! I agree with other commentors that this is one of the BEST contemporary Christian groups! Thay have a great song that they did with Dolly Parton that I LOVE!!!
I think this was the *big drummer boys'* version. Loved it, and your reaction. I knew For God and Country was a group, but can't say I had heard anything by them before.
