You guys. This actually brought me to tears. As soon as you explained the processes of closing up the door in the front parlor to the first bedroom, and how you plastered underneath the wallpaper incase someone ever wanted to take it down. Enough said. That one thing fully explains your ethos to restoring homes. It's not about the next 10 years, it's about the next 100. And that effort that may go unseen for decades before it's found is what makes you both so special. Thank you THANK YOU for what you do. So much of it goes unseen, but we see you! And it's safe to say, we're ALL in awe. (Side note, RU-vid needs to create an algorithm that allows you to "like" at multiple stages of a video! One like is just not enough!) 🥰🥰
Very well said!! Laine and Kevin are awesome all the time! Everything they do is so very special in so many ways and is always done with kindness, compassion, love, and dedication and is extremely heartfelt!
I walked through Pearl a couple of weeks ago. Video and pictures do not do her justice. She is so stunning and I was just in awe walking through this masterpiece. That kitchen blew my mind!! This is a very special home.
This is a piece of history saved. This is also now a work of art. There are too few people who appreciate the houses for what they are. I love to see your work and how you saved the integrity of the home and didn't just knock down a bunch of walls for the dreaded open concept.
I can't start to tell you how much I am of the same mind as you are regarding the awful open concept thing. Horrible. I don't understand the appeal; they feel like smaller- scale airplane hangars, and wherever you stand in them you are on display, no privacy at all. And their dreary sameness! Ugh! I like a feeling of mystery in a house, not knowing at a glance where everything is. I like the space to be revealed in sequence, going from room to room. I like the spaces to be differentiated. I don't want my kitchen to be in my living room! And like you I believe it's important to respect the house and not wreck it by taking down this wall, and this wall, and this wall.... Anyway, forgive my rant, you touched a nerve.
Just exquisite…you’ve put so much attention to form, function and durability. All the attention to even the most minute details takes this house from high quality renovation to curated museum status. Whoever buys this will have a treasure for a lifetime. You two are the best team of restorers I’ve ever seen.
If someone didn't know better, they would just walk in and think this house had been kept in tiptop condition this whole time, and that it just got a new coat of paint and some wallpaper. That is the mark of a good restoration to me. It doesn't look 'renovated'. Really impeccable job.
Just came here after your most recent video. I’m so sorry for what the potential buyers have put you through. Their intentions are clear to me and they are not honorable. This home is incredible!!! You both did a magnificent job on this home and if we lived near we would definitely be looking. My husband and I love historic homes and you have done an amazing job!!!
Hi Kevin and Laine, I was wondering, if you would consider creating a playlist for each house? Just so that one could watch the whole process for that house? I really love the quality of your work, and the respect for the original house, and even how you style and decorate😊 Pearl turned out great! 😁 But honestly, I am waiting for more videos on Melly and Helena 😂
I've been watching since the beginning of this project and I am so impressed with it, and you guys! You truly have restored this home and it shows. What you have done here really matters. By saving everything that defines it's original beauty you have stopped time. You have saved history for many others to see and really enjoy. Bravo 👏
Pearl is so beautiful Laine and Kevin. You absolutely feel as if you're walking back in time. It makes my heart happy because we remember the sad state of her on our trip to Natchez.
Oh Kevin and Laine!!! What a grand reveal!!!! Miss Pearl is breathtaking. Every part of her is perfect and lovely. Simply amazed at what you've done here.
She is beautiful and sweet touches everywhere!❤ I love each rooms functions, custom pieces and perfect fixtures you chose. I know Kevin did so much heavy work, and Laine you are not to be out done. Wow the two of you were put through it with Pearl at times. She does not disappoint at all. Now sail away for a month somewhere beautiful...relax. Oh Auburn! 😮Sleep until you feel so rested please. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this house!!!! I too have FAVORITES.. mud room/laundry room, I am obsessed!! lol I too have a thing for beautiful laundry rooms.. and mud rooms! the rooms are beautiful and you all did a fabulous job in each one of them! The built ins, in the bedroom, with the window seats ADORABLE!! The kitchen island, is no joke BRUH!! WOOZER, that is a statement all on its own!! ❤ The outside space, the porch.. all ❤️❤️❤️ But for my ABSOLUTE MOST FAVORITE part of this home… drum role please.. because it is deserving of a drum roll… the PANTRY!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 💃🏼 🎊 ❤💃🏼💃🏼🎊🎊🎉❤️ that PANTRY.. is EVERYTHING!! HANDS DOWN, I need that in my life!! GREAT JOB!!
It's understandable that you're angry about the light fixtures especially the one that was broken that you designed the room around I'm so glad your friend found another for you
Wow, amazing detail, colours, wallpapers, kitchen, bathrooms, I would love to live in this historic house/home! The two of you are a team of love put into each home restoration.🇨🇦❤️❤️
"WOW!" I remember you guys repairing and rehanging the windows in this house. And I remember you finding that chest of drawers and fitting it in that space. The bathrooms are beautiful but the whole house is! The world is a better place with you guys being who you are...thank you for restoring these old homes!
My grandparents’ home had fireplaces like that. It was a ‘Folk Victorian’ with understated embellishments. Plain country and I loved it. I used to dream about it sometimes. Then I took a summer course in hand building clay and I recreated their house. After that, I didn’t dream about it any longer.
Y'all did a FANTASTIC job! I think the kitchen may be my favorite. No, maybe the light fixtures. No, maybe the study??? Heck, it's ALL beautiful!! Great job K&L!!!
It’s so much better than I expected. Whoever gets to live here will possess something very special. The music was made for this video, again, superior job Kevin.
I love this home. You make me want to live there. I could sell my home in South Florida and pay cash for that beautiful classic. ❤My heart❤ God bless you both.
I love this house! If I didn’t live in Montana, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. I just saw your video in regards to the trouble you’re having with a certain party, who have complaints about this home. I’m sorry you have to go thru that. After watching your videos, and seeing the work you both do, I know that you are honest and open about everything that you did to rehabilitate this home. It’s too bad that some people who have no vision, and/or are entitled, feel the need to be vicious for no real reason. I know you’ll both come out on top! 😊
A stunning labor of Love. Your devotion to the preservation of homes like this one is evident in your attention to detail. Thank you for the choices you make to ensure the history of a home is celebrated! You are amazing & it is my pleasure to follow you both as you document your own projects & other special homes you tour. Your reputation is stellar IMO. ✨️ Blessings to you both.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I couldn't even imagine the joy living here would give me. I am only 15 years old but I look up to you both so much. Please dont ever stop doing what you guys do
OMG this is beautiful!!! Blue is my least favorite color but paired with the yellow is really great. I wouldn't worry any about your reputation; anyone who has watched your show knows that's not how you run. GREAT JOB.
The house is truly beautiful. The nasty girl who tied you up for so long saying she was going to buy it and then backing out at the last minute truly has missed out. Anyone who follows you knows how particular you are and how lovingly you renovate these treasures from the past. The nasty girl lied big time, let's pray for her to turn from her wicked ways!
I am from Natchez and y’all have done a gorgeous job on this house and I have loved seeing the restoration. It had set abandoned for a long time. Glad someone fixed it up.
I had to come back to this video so I could comment on the legal video. I haven't seen the buyers disparaging post, but based on your video, they are delusional. I could not BELIEVE the absolute luck I felt these buyers had way back when you first mention you had buyers. The price on this house originally was simply a steal, never mind all the other additional work you did FOR THE SAME PRICE! (WHAT??!?!?!). Even at 360k it's a steal. I always say in your videos, if I wanted to live in the south this house would have been MINE! Here in RI, once the buyers pass their inspection period (if no extension in writing). THEY MUST PERFORM, so right there, bye bye earnest money. I have been wondering why this transaction has been dragging on so long for, now I know. In addition to the 5k, I hope you get a whopping settlement!
Thank you so very much for allowing us to follow along on Pearl's restoration. She is spectacular in every way. With every room you have revealed, I would mentally say to myself "this is my favorite room" and then again with each additional room reveal. Its safe to say every inch that you guys touched are my favorite. If we didn't still have kids at home, we'd seriously consider leaving our Arkansas roots and calling Pearl our forever home. She's just perfect and it is all because of you, Kevin and Laine ☺️
Kudos, Laine and Kevin! The amount of work I know you put into this exquisite restoration is equaled only by the love that accompanied it. Your eye for detail and period appropriateness make it a true restoration, not a renovation, but she’s still going to stand up to modern living for another 123 years!
So excited to see this video, and to celebrate the restoration with you ! She is beautiful ! Whomever, will reside there, I pray they will appreciate it with much love. Kevin and Lane you did a spectacular job. Thank you for being willing to restore these historical buildings with much love, patience and very hard work. Nothing could be more beautiful !
I don’t usually watch all the videos related to your restoration. The nitty gritty details bore me. But I’m a huge fan of your choices. And frankly a bit envious of your ability to curate these spaces into beautiful places
You know I wouldn't even care if you were house flippers. The fact that you care and want to restore these beautiful places is wonderful. I've always wanted to do this. Haven't been able to. So, thank God you are doing it. You both are doing a wonderful job. Thank You. God bless ⚘️
This is a Beautifully, restored older home!!! I simple love all the care you both took , not to take away from it's age but to enhance it functionality! I think every house you all do tops the last one. Bigger and better every time.
I need some oxygen, maybe something to get my heart started. I thought Pearl was the most beautiful house I had ever seen before it was touched. And now it is more than a dream home! Wow, wow, wow! Laine and Kevin, be very proud of your HARD work, your skills and awesome creativity. Thank you for giving this beautiful neighborhood such a gem.💎 💚💜
The results of all this intense labor is spectacular! The artistry and attention to detail permeates the whole house. Meet Me in St. Louis is one of my favorite movies. I watch it every Christmas. The house and the street must be even more magical then. Lucky people who make this house their home.
Holy MOLEY !!!!! For people who aren't going to be staying here, it is clear that an incredible amount of pure love and appreciation went into this home !!! WOW. It's just ASTONISHINGLY beautiful. I'd give up my 1963 California 1,306 sq. ft. three bedroom tract home (valued at $700,000, honestly😱) for this amazing beauty in a hot second. Whoever xy chromosome idiot😉🤣dicked you good people around over this is just nuts!😒
Needs to be put into another "Painted Ladies" book. The kitchen floor? It is beyond words. If I could talk my spouse (of 43 years) into moving from Los Angeles/Orange County area of California, we would be moving in a flash ... God Bless You Both and "If Walls Could Talk."
I DON'T HONESTLY KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THIS HOUSE AND WHAT YOU'VE BEEN THROUGH RESTORING IT EXCEPT BRAVO!! IT IS BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED HOME IN EVERY WAY. THE ROOMS, FLOORS, HARDWARE, WALLPAPER, FIXTURES AND FIREPLACES. AND CABINETS, ETC. JUST SPECTACULAR! I WATCHED A LOT OF THIS RESTORATION AND JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THE UNBELIEVABLY MAGNIFICENT TRANSFORMATION!!! CONGRATS ON A STUPENDOUS JOB. ALL MY BEST TO YOU BOTH. D. MOIR, CHICAGO
OMG PEARL❤ Ya'll! I can't even. She's gorgeous 😍 I love when Ya'll rehab the old girls. #neverateardown I live in a 1014 cottage and wish i could rehab her to this level.
Pearl turned out amazing!!! I thought she was sold already? The dinning room is my favorite!!!! I would love Pearl unfortunately I own my own 1933 bungalow.abd can't relocate for work.. If I was retired I would be making an offer!!! That kitchen which would be most nightmare you turned it into a dream!!! Great work you two!!! She is a STUNNING masterpiece!!!
As @Erinsmith776 mentioned about plaster being used to finish the surface off just incase some would want to change the wallpaper is truly a testament to the caliber for concern of future owners to have choices...and i must add to that to the repurposing of the bead board being used in the creation of the closet doors...i'd be honored to have this couple to collaborate with on future home preservation projects with....well done you two!
Absolutely gorgeous!! My husband and I are in Natchez this weekend and we are in awe of all the beautiful homes. The people here are so welcoming and inviting too. True southern charm.
I watched this when it came out but I needed some time to collect my thoughts. Absolutely beautiful! Boy, they reallly put their heart and souls into this project. The house and the people who will be living in this exquisite beauty have Lan and Kev to thank!
OMG! I wish this house were on my land in TN. It's EXACTLY what I want! Love, Love the kitchen. I love everything about it. Although I think I would do something else with the office walls.
This house is stunning!!!! I absolutely love the fact that You guys don't renovate, you RESTORE. Even when you need to change something in a house you make sure it is true to the period of the home. My home was built in 1911 and I would love to return it to that period. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!❤❤❤
Thank you for saving a beautiful piece of history and restoring her to this amazing beauty. I thought you had said in a previous episode that you had a buyer and that is why you were working so hard to get her completed by a certain time. I hope you do find that person that will love her as much as we have watched you restore her.
This home turned out so beautiful! I don’t know how in the world you did this in 8 months! Our 1910 home took a year and that was with crews of people doing everything. You’re amazing!
The buyer decided to back out at the very, VERY last minute, after having given them a very long list of things, that was then made especially, because they insisted, that they would buy the house... BUT now some other lucky person can get to live in this beautiful home 😊 I am green with envy!
I LOVE this place. whoever ends up with it.... LUCKY LUCKY!!!! Beautiful work... coming from a connoisseur of such things. Wonderful work. Very capable.
Oh my goodness!!!! How gorgeous! Y'all picked up, dusted off and bought the old girl a beautiful new dress. How pretty....Y'all did such an amazing job bringing life back to this wonderful home. She is shining with all her yesteryear glory. Absolutely gorgeous....God bless 😊
I love the kitchen. So many times you find a beautifully restored home, then you find a modern kitchen. To me, what you did does make you think it could be original.
I'm renaming you Restoration Artists! I am so proud of you and for you❤ If I were younger, I would have loved to have lived the rest of my life there! The kitchen alone is my dream space, but you had me at the wisteria wall❣
My daughter and her husband bought a fully renovated Victorian house in New York….omg it is so beautiful, I love the wood floors, the molding and stairs railing all that beautiful …it has a basement apartment, one of my grandsons lives down there while he goes to NYU, he fits rite in, my daughter only cooks vegetarian, so my grandson fits right in…he is vegetarian also.
You are amazing! There are no words worthy of expressing what you have done! Whoever becomes the new caretaker should realize they will live in Heaven here on Earth in Pearl! Thank you for your wonderful videos! I enjoy seeing and learning from you both!
Laine’s touches are all over this beauty! The love and care, with practicality and perseverance have saved this gem. It would be perfect for a retired couple looking to downsize but also for anyone really. Just a treat to watch all of your hard work turn into something so beautiful!!!! Love you guys!! I love the blue wallpaper with the green designs to tie together the light fixture and tiles. I love the tiger oak mantle, all of it is so amazing. ❤
I love the dining room - the light and the wallpaper. I love even more the bedroom color scheme. I do like wallpaper in large rooms, and it is not overbearing in that room. The wainscoting in the dining room was correct too with that wallpaper. Beautiful floor in the bathroom.
Pearl is AMAZING!! You have out done yourselves with this one. I always love Laine's design aesthetic and there are so many things to love in this house. Every detail is beautiful and enchanting. You're gonna wish you kept Miss Pearl! And funny thing, I thought Pearl was on Pearl Street, but no! This reveal is so special to all of us that have followed along on this journey. Thank you for what you do and for sharing this magic with us!!
