I co-wrote and co-directed this ad. It’s one of the pieces of work I’m most proud of and the fact so many people still comment and watch it is unbelievable.
Mate I got goosebumps when I first watched it 9 years ago and still get goosebumps rewatching it now. Thank you and your colleagues for putting the effort in.
Hey adam its scarlett the redhead from the ad- just stumbled across it again myself and wow cant believe the amount of views!! its still so awesome really proud to be a part of it :)
THIS VIDEO IS 10 YEARS OLD???? I remember when it had just come out and I watched it again and again. It perfectly captures the spirit of PlayStation. Great stuff
I'm not saying that i'm the toughest man. But i'm really going to cry. Just see how fast the time is, from PS1 to PS2, from PS2 to PS3, from PS3 to PS4. I still remember those old times playing some PS1 games with my brother
Agreed. I got a little teary eyed at the beginning remembering everything down to the Blur poster on the wall. Right down to the discman and the massive Sony DVD player. This was an era I think we all look back and say where did it go so fast?
This is how all gaming was, this is how all gaming should be today this day. Forget the internet and online matches. It's all about having a good time alone or with a bunch of your friends having a great time in the same room together. Nothing will ever beat that kind of gaming experience.
@guest300a There's just not a lot of split screen games anymore. And why would there be when they can make more money selling the game to me *and* my friend.
You all will be waiting a long time. Jim Ryan consolidated the entire marketing department when it comes to the West, so there will be no regional specific ads like this one anymore. From this point on, the marketing will be as one.
I was 10 in 1995. This literally was how I grew up. Great times and memories. Blessed to have experienced those glorious years. Thank you Sony and thank you gamers!
I am the redhead girl in this advert, forgot about it for a few years and WOW I cannot believe how many views it has now! Super emotional to make and still hits me in the feels watching now. So many PS memories over the years! An honour to be a part of it.
I remember watching this clip several times a day when I was saving money for a PS4. I got one a year after it's launch. That PS4 still works like a dream. Now I'm back watching this after getting a PS5.
This is insanely well made. I'm not a ps fan and I stopped playing video games a long time ago but this video is beautiful. The uplifting music, the nostalgic and accurate designs of the room, the super cool video editing. It's crazy how much effort was put into this. Super amazing work!
Please get a new one of these done to include PS5. Seriously one of the best gaming ads made! I’ve lived through them all and look forward to many more years of them!
This commercial was the sole reason I got a PS4. I had grown up with a PS1 as it was my first console. I worked my butt off for a PS2 as a teenager, and loved it. Still my favorite console. Then my buddies all had Xboxes and I decided to get a 360 and skipped the PS3 till the tail end. Was t a huge fan of the PS3. But man am I glad I got a ps4. Was an amazing console. Cheers to the PS5. Memories
What the....Holy shit..i just realized it because of your comment. This is incredible if i think what happened during this time. Man i feel old now. Good old times. I will miss them
That old ps1 loading screen use to get me so excited as a kid. Bring home a new game and its like "oh man I can't wait to see what comes after this screen"! The memories!
its the loading screen that gives me chills, the part that ps logo takes a forever to show up. its like the one that you taught its not gonna load and hangs then another click to that open button and reshine that disk.
The most saddest and emotional part of this whole video is that with time everyone gets busy with life at the end its only you with just one true loyal friend (if u are lucky enough to have one)
This video makes me sad cause it reminds you just how fast time flies, been there since 1995 with the first ps and here we are just a few months away from the launch of the ps5
AS-IS Yeah.I got the ps1 as soon as it came out in England in i think 1995.I have had all the ps consoles up to now.Makes me realize how old I am getting and how fast time flies.I think ps 2 was the best for the sheer amount of numbers of games and variation of different types of games.
It brings back mixed emotional feelings of happiness and emptiness. You played the game seriously, you solved puzzles, gain experience, gain ranks, new weapons, devising strategies, but when the power is off, you gain nothing, you feel empty, for a moment, before you finally forced to switch your existence into the mundane routine of life, if you weren't stuck there that is.
Considering the other Sony advertisements were creepy as heck I'm pretty sure this is the best thing that to being normal is that's Sony's ever going to get
It'll go like this: "Hey man you get the PS5 yet?" "Nah man 1 year and it's still out of stock everywhere". Besides how can you have memories of something new? The whole point of this short was about nostalgia. How can anyone be nostalgic for the PS5? It's only just come out and most people can't get their hands on one.
Sony has actually been trying to make this and the originals actors are on board. They've filmed everything but the shot showing the PS5 since they haven't been able to get one yet.
I remember as a kid, right after school just running to my best friends house across the street & playing Ps2 with him. I remember playing mw2 so many years back & coming across three random guys in multiplayer who would end up becoming my closest friends. I remember coming home from high school after being bullied & just jumping on ps3. To this day, i'm trying to get past severe depression & gaming on playstation has been the one thing throughout all these years that has kept me going. It'll always be a part of my life.
This is and will always be the single best console commercial. I don’t know how you top this. This kicks you right in the feels man. This commercial has been out for a long time but it still has that effect on me, especially the ps1 and ps2 part.
Altought i'm a PC Gamer, i born playing with the PSOne, Sega, PS2, etc... this makes me so happy and in a weird way, proud of be a Gamer and share this world and stories with such big and great community.
When that PS2 start-up sound hits, I lose it. The memories of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Tenchu, Tekken 4 and 5, Mortal Kombat Deception and Shaolin Monks, Resident Evil 4, Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andres, Final Fantasy X, .Hack, 007 Everything or Nothing, Star Wars Bounty Hunter and Jedi Star Fighter, THQ's The Punisher, True Crime, Def Jam Vendetta..... It all comes back to me and as a 30 year old today, I realize how much it all saved me. I think thats why I lose it. Knowing how alone I'd be if not for gaming. Thank God games exist.
@Thomas J Shears unfortunately no, I did get my PSN ID into the lottery for an invitation for PS5 preorder through Sony, but that's not a guaranteed pre-order. Not worried though, eventually ill have one and my first game will be Demon's Souls!
I watched this back in 2020, when we did not have a PlayStation at the time. I was just dreaming of owning one myself someday and now I came back here to watch it again and we have 3 PS consoles now, from different generations. At weekends, I would invite my friends to play Gran Turismo 3 on my PS2 slim and it's actually fun to go back in simpler times and just amuse ourselves without the use of phones and away from the Internet. Now I know what it must've felt like when teens back then play split screen, it's so fun!
I feel my heart getting heavy every time I watch this. Happy from all the joy the playstation brand has brought me but also a huge sadness because it's a reminder of how old I've gotten and how much life has changed...I miss being a kid.
Remember back in the day, when you would put in a game and just Play? every time I start a game or turn on my PS3/4/Xb1 its Update City. then the game has to update.
Game development has become more complex and we as "gamers"/consumers demand power and performance more than ever. We want everything 4K and 60fps now, so consoles as we knew back then are gonna disappear.
And there will be only one game to play. Did you also notice how the games started disappearing. The PS1and 2 generation had tons of games and the 4 only had 2 games as each game has become too expensive to buy.
