Mudulakkhana Jataka (#66)
In this video, the Buddha tells a story of the past about an ascetic who lost his powers due to desire.
Wat San Fran is proud to present stories taken from the Jatakas, Dhammapada, and Buddhist history. These stories often use past rebirth stories (Jatakas) to reveal the connection between past and present, and illustrate the relationship between cause and effect.
Check out the playlist #AnimatedBuddhistStories by Wat San Fran to explore the complete series.

"I once believed that our regrets were solely our own fault, but upon realizing that even bodhisattvas have experienced similar struggles, my mind now understands that we are all on a shared journey of learning and growth."😇🙏

I love this story! So powerful for the most holiest being to tell about his weakness, and how we are like him.

The sexsual desires are very dangerous to progress on the path of enlightenment. The Sankhara of lust only get rid at the state of Anagami that's why it's so difficult for everyone to abstain from sexsual desires and look how honest and clear was Buddha he told truth about himself and he didn't hide anything that's why he is called Purisdhamma Sarathi. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu 🙏🙏🙏

What I learned: We only think of the pleasure of obtaining. Not the stress, difficulty and suffering of maintaining. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu. 🙏 🙇 🙏 🙇 🙏 🙇

I love to use your videos during my class for my students to watch. The animation, the plot, the narrator, everything is awesome. I hope there will be more jataka stories, especially for kids aged under 12. I almost watch all of the jataka here but I think most of it is more suitable for teenagers.

Everything's fine. Everything's well and good. Just that the final part of where was Visakha born after her death is the much needed video.

After her death Visakha was reborn in Nimmānaratī, the fifth heavenly realm, as the consort of the deva king of the realm.

@@CrazySamycraft_Official Aahaa.... what's the harm in making a video ? In India, Hinduism is promoted by telecasting the same dharmic serials or by remaking them again and again. And that too they plot their own twist & turns in remaking them & mostly contradicts two or more serials of their Gods. But being in the foremost Dharma expecting the maintenance of 5 precepts which include of not telling any lie in these videos, don't we Upāsaka & Upāsikā get to see the proper ending of the foremost female lay follower/benefactor of the Buddha? That's the whole point.

I think it's interesting that those who are righteous can also own and have things in the world. The King's actions also demonstrate non-attachment. As he clearly loved his Queen and life partner but gave her up in the service of enlightenment without a hesitation. So it seems that his is a kind of flying also. He had but he also was not attached. And so we as householders can be this way also, striving to give up our blessings at a moment's notice in the service of the enlightenment of other beings. To have and to not possess is the greatest of all for those who choose to remain in samsara. Also, a soul that chooses to reincarnate in such a situation as to be so deeply vulnerable is truly the one who is the most powerful. I think that Queen Gentle Heart did the most significant thing in the story. It would've been more illuminating if he had said "and I was Queen Gentle Heart." I get that his choice to emphasize such rebirths helped avoid confusion for those who are stuck in gender illusions and perhaps this was why he decided to sidestep the issue.

The king is none other than bhante Ananda who already got that moral quality, the non-attachment trait.
