You should try to get dan lilja on your show. You've interviewed several cut rifle barrel guys, have a button guy on. I've had a couple liljas, a shilen, a krieger and now a bart and they've all shot good.
Eric, love all of your content and a huge proponent of your tuners. Food for thought!!! have you thought about doing a podcast with a new shooter. I have been shooting PRS for the past two years and loading for the past 9 months I would love to discuss my experience. where do I get my information, what products did I purchase, what I think worksand my process. I would love your feedback as well as to see what a new shooter goes thru in getting started
It is sad, but I stopped watching your channel years ago because I just can't keep up with all of your priceless and exclusive reloading euipment . . .
@@ErikCortina 🤣 . . . You truly are one of the most, if not the most valuable source on YT for that wonderful sport. In addition the way you R explaining things in that calm and sympathetic way made me watch numerous videos but I honestly hope you understand my point when it comes to my limited budget and therefore limited feasibility.
Hi Erik, I'm sure Gavin would do thread turning on barrels for some of you listeners. You don't tend to mention him when recommending gunsmiths. BTW love the YT stuff you put out.
I thought it was pretty cool when I got a couple tunner breaks and they where in the bottles because that's exactly how I clean them but I didn't know that's why you put them in the bottles 👍
I’d disagree with the guy on the suppressor cleaning. I clean mine after 100 rounds and there’s substantial carbon buildup. For extreme consistency they need to be cleaned often imo
Hey Erik, thank you that you are giving community great info. My question to you is SAC mandrel pulling up vs yours mandrel going down? Your feedback greatly appreciated it.
I usually just sit and watch your vids and gain what knowledge I can. Once we got to the 242 mandrel I got on the keyboard. I use the K+M arbor press with the force pack and gas flame annealing. My necks (Lapua) are cut to 0.0125". In order to achieve a 30 to 50 lbs force I have to use a 0.243" mandrel. The Needmore uses a 0.2645" to get that. My 284 uses a 0.284" mandrel. I had this conversation with Greg a few days back and all he said was new Video coming should explain. It did not. Any ideas? I was thinking I was not bending it enough to get the yield point correct but It looks like I am.?
Are going to do any 300 win mag dies or are you just chilling with all the 6.5s out their. I love the 30cal bullets to the point I've made my own casting and pushed out to 2800 plus. Got good groups out to 300 yards. I wish I could go to a range that could actually let me touch the full potential of the loads I've been working on but you know how that works in the beginning lol.
How heavy are your . 30 cal loads? What are you using for lube at those speed? I have used HBN in my barrels and on my 110 supersonic and 230 subsonic. Cleaning is better than wax.
I have some rifle brass that the shoulder was bumped back further than intended. (My mistake) between 3-8 thousandths more than intended. Chuck it in the garbage or is it safe to shoot?
100% safe to shoot but may not be as accurate as properly sized. May also have a different speed due to case volume(so reduce load if you're near the ragged edge). If you're shooting off the shelf ammo in a mass produced gun you're often going to have that much extra headspace.
Erik, serious question. I follow you and your videos religiously. Thank you for all the info. You stated that you like .004-.005 neck clearance, but then you said " all my competition guns are tight neck"...??? Am I confused, or is that a contradiction? Thanks, rsbhunter
You give such good tips so I'll give you one in exchange. Buy a fraction of a Bitcoin NOW while it is still cheap or a whole Bitcoin if you can afford it. It can save your butt as this financial/inflation crisis plays out.
Hi Erik, missed the stream again 😅 I am picking up a rest in a bit and I have been told the stock isn't wide enough for it, I know this and will have to resort to getting an adapter, will tracking still be an issue? And would you know any good brands for them, or would it be better to just make one (know some guys that run a CNC shop and some guys who could help me design it) Thank you.
I am amazed that people slap a bayonet style chronograph in the barrel of a rifle while developing a load. they say that is does not affect the impact point of the load and now you said that carbon in a silencer (because of weight change) affect the tuning of a rifle. Glad that I never strayed away from common sense on things like this.
