Did Jesus die for all of the sins everyone has ever committed, or did He die specifically and only for the sins of believers? Was His atonement general or was it particular (or, as most refer to it, limited)? Dr. Mike Riccardi has written a thorough book on this question titled To Save Sinners. In today’s podcast, I interview Dr. Riccardi as we consider this important question.

Justin, I spent all morning listening to this and taking notes. Writing a lot of the scriptures down and rewinding the Video many times. My only problem was that I don't feel as educated as the both of you are, so was having a little difficulty with the meaning of some of the words. I can only pray that Holy Spirit will give me wisdom and understanding. Thank you so much for this opportunity to learn what the Gospel says about those who are His sheep. Blessings to you both. 🙏✝️🙏

The first disciples, who were also those carrying the Gospel to the world after the Resurrection, were mostly fishermen. Even Luke the doctor and Matthew the tax collector had learned from JESUS and not from professors at "seminary" (where's "seminary" in the New Testament???) Don't fret about understanding men. Jesus commands us that the Holy Spirit will teach and guide us (John 14:26 & 16:13) in the Word of God, which is straightforward to understand, ESPECIALLY with the guidance meant for us. Too many people are dependent on man for their theology. They spend 95% of their time listening to man and 5% in the Word listening to Jesus through the Holy Spirit ("my sheep hear my voice") when it should be the other way around. "Now when the Pharisees saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were ordinary and unschooled men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13)

I appreciate much of your content Justin. This video however, is why I must unsubscribe. Your guest, Mike literally spent 15 minutes trying to explain propitiation. If I were to argue that Roman’s 10:13 says “whosoever”, I’m sure he would take 30 minutes on that. I believe that Jesus died for every man. I could not imagine thinking I’m in an elite group of believers that God just so happened to choose. This video instructs me to quit wasting my time knocking doors, soul winning, confronting people with the Gospel, and having a bus ministry because those precious kids on those buses are doomed even if persuasive Bible truth convinced them to trust Jesus. John Macarthurism. I’m sad to leave ya Justin.

Excellent point. God would no more command sinners to do what was impossible for them to do, any more than He would command an elephant to fly. The fact that God commands mankind to repent, indicates mankind can repent. Not only that, but the Holy Spirit has been sent to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He will not fail that assignment! Why, oh why, would the Holy Spirit connect any in mankind to repent and believe in a sacrifice not made on their behalf, as concluded in the doctrine of limited atonement?
@Gablesman888
@Gablesman888 Год назад
@@josephbeussink9504 Joseph, you sound like Pelagius, the heretic who was kicked out of the Church because he did not believe the doctrine of salvation as summarized by the St. Augustine prayer (quoted supra). The "elephant" in the room is the One who made elephants and who more importantly chooses (as He told Moses) who is saved. Yes, God commands men to come to repentance, but fallen man totally lacks the ability to make any move in the direction of said repentance. Fallen man must have the intervention of the merciful God. The Holy Spirit makes the first move by regenerating the hopelessly lost sinner, and through grace gives the sinner the saving faith to believe in Him. Ephesians 2:8-9. In the case of God's elect, God will not fail that assignment! Christ did not die in vain for anyone who was ever or who will ever be saved. Isaiah 53:11. "He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied". Not disappointed. Not angry with the Father for having had to endure God's wrath for people who were not elect in the first place. Remember: "Salvation is of the Lord". Jonah 2:9. Cf: John 17:9.

@@eclipsesonic So those who don't repent and believe, are their sins atoned for? Also note 2 Corinthians 7 where Paul explains the difference between a world sorrow and a godly sorrow. Now will all have a godly sorrow?? Also the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, righteousness and judgement. So is that happening to all??
@eclipsesonic
@eclipsesonic Год назад
@@EpicMushroom27 If you mean atoned, in the sense that, has Jesus died and paid for their sins then yes, if you mean atoned as in, have they accepted the offer of salvation and have had their sins forgiven, then no. No, of course not all will have godly sorrow. To your third question, I would say that yes, the Holy Spirit is working and convicting people, even if they stubbornly reject His calling. I have three scriptures to back up my claim. Firstly, here's what Stephen said to the council in Acts 7:51: "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you." Notice what God does also to the stubborn Israelites in Isaiah's time in Isaiah 65:2: "I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, according to their own thoughts." Even those who ultimately reject God, He is patient with them and granting them opportunities to be saved, but they consistently refuse. Jeremiah 7:25-26 also says the same thing: "From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day; yet they did not listen to me, or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers."

This was a fantastic discussion and I gained additional insight into this subject of limited atonement. Some verses that I find striking in my own time reading through Scripture is John 6:44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day." Everyone quotes the first part of that verse but skips the later part. Even those who say salvation is available to all. However, what catches my attention is how Jesus declares that ANYONE whom the Father draws, Jesus will raise that person up on the last day. There is no other criteria set. If a choice on the part of man was so critical, you'd think Jesus would address it here right? I've come to understand that Jesus is so confident in the drawing power of the Father, that it's a 100% guaranteed He will raise that person up on the last day. Since we know many people have and will perish in their sins, this can't mean God draws all people but only the elect. Another verse that strikes me is what James says during the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15:14 "Simeon has related how God first visited the Gentiles, to take from them a people for his name." James follows up this statement by quoting Old Testament prophets to support his statement. This correlates with Revelation 5:9-10 perfectly. So, when John says that Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world, he can't mean every single human being. He himself saw the vision of Heaven in Revelation and heard clearly that people from every people group were saved. That is still "the whole world" just not every single person in the whole world. It's clear that the apostles never thought that every Gentile was meant to be saved.

Yup. The Important thing to Remember with The Apostle John (all 12 Apostles in fact) is what he was in this world, a Messianic Jew! "ours" = Elected Messianic Jews, "the whole world" = Elected Gentiles (I fall into the Second Category, just for Clarification). All very simple when you remember what John was in this world. Love and Peace.

I just finished in my private bible study going through John over the course of a few months, and I came out more convinced than every that Jesus died for the sins of His sheep. I had never noticed that in John, Jesus says exactly what you just pointed out in 6:44, but then He keeps on repeating that throughout the rest of the gospel. "This is why I said you can not come to me... etc." Jesus didn't even want to be ambiguous on this point, in fact He couldn't have been any more clear.

I’m afraid I don’t agree. At the last supper Jesus did not drink the second cup of judgement. To satisfy God’s justice he died for the world. In ot times you could be present at the ceremony of atonement, but that didn’t mean that you believed in God. God knows the heart. Prior to the incarnation Christ was in Heaven as part of the Godhead. Ot saints were in Abraham’s bosom and written in the the book of life whilst others were in Hades. The possibility of salvation must be open to everyone and so we preach the gospel to all. As God is omniscient he knows who will not come to faith, but justice requires that the offer is open to all. Jesus drank the cup of God’s wrath on the cross then defeated death and Hades as he rose from the tomb. If Jesus Christ did not drink all of God’s wrath why does it say in Revelation about those who rejected Him Revelation 14:10 he also will drink the wine of God's wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. If Jesus did not die for their sins, why is there wrath to be poured on them in His presence? If He only died for the elect why would He be there? I’m sorry, but there are so many assumptions behind this argument Yours in Christ Kath

In explaining 1 John 2:2, Riccardi states that the "propitiation" is efficacious but could not be universal because that would mean that Hell would be empty of people. Riccardi fails to understand that people go to Hell (ultimately, the Lake of Fire) not because they have unpropitiated sin but because they are not in the Book of Life. All who believe in Jesus have everlasting life. Those who have died never believing in Jesus do not have everlasting life and, therefore, are not in the Book of Life. Riccardi also states that "the whole world" in 1 John 2:2 means the whole world of the elect only. That is special pleading, reading "the elect" into the verse so that it comports with his theology. Furthermore, John specifically identifies the "whole world" in 1 John 5:19: "We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one." Ricarrdi would not identify the "whole world" here as the elect. Take the verse at face value: Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of all people, believers and unbelievers alike. And He is so that all who simply believe in Him receive everlasting life.

Btw that’s not an attack or a “sit down shut up” type of comment. If a woman answered that with evidence of spiritual maturity, I would want to figure out a way to connect off RU-vid (I won’t connect identifying information to this one, to avoid doxing). Thing is, I think there’s two different categories of men, those who truly aren’t ready and then those who are absolutely ready but can’t find qualified women or the women are unreasonably picky. They aren’t willing to “catch him on the way up,” so they delay until he becomes higher demand with other women and picks someone more attractive than her. I’ve pursued a 25 year old, 33 year old, 35 year old, and 28 year old, considering only those I was at “talk to dad” levels of seriousness with. I’m seriously starting to open my mind to consider 19 year olds. If they don’t see a problem with it, then I won’t. They simply have less baggage that keeps them from respecting and submitting. I think I’ve been overlooked by a few of these because they were unreasonably selective regarding physical appearance. In context, the youngest one was head over heels for me because I was darn good looking at the time, and will be again, because being out of work partly due to covid and refusing to patronize the gym because of mask rules led to a bit more difficulty maintaining an exercise regimen. If somebody’s not willing to give grace in that regard then they won’t be getting a second shot, as I am convinced that that encourages infidelity. My income is very variable because of my choice of career but I’m consistently having a margin of several grand a month. I have my own place, and choose to rent rather than buy because of the cost of living benefit to saving money, and am considering buying in the next 2 years with a plan to work on vacation rentals as a side project. Net liquid assets of a year’s median income. I am very annoyed by the attitude that married folks as well as single women seem to hold, that you are not high quality because I don’t have an entourage, or I guess my clothes. If you haven’t even talked to me, I don’t know what else you would judge me by but that. But I’m also conscious of the fact that this very POSITIVE trait of self reflection and conscientiousness gets prejudicially interpreted by many as insecurity, with no consideration given to the fact that I’m sharing insight for the benefit of others and not venting for sympathy. It’s their loss, really. People who are quick to judge are literally in sin and don’t deserve my time or mental effort. I’ll get an amazing wife one day, because I know my worth. I’m guaranteed more spiritually mature than any woman you introduce me to, because I know how much time I’ve spent listening to sound teaching and studying and I know the kinds of conversations I get to have with women in person and online. I’m probably overqualified for you, especially if ALL you’ve got is good theological convictions. A woman at 24 should be very physically fit because she hasn’t spent her 20s being pregnant. I’m smart, funny, kind, gentle, self controlled, wise, able to teach, firm in the faith, physically strong, not easily manipulated either regarding deception, despair, or anger. Able to lead, able to inspire with a bigger picture, having more than one iron in the fire, able to bear up under suffering without being destroyed by it, gifted in teaching and able to give wise counsel, etc etc etc. Doesn’t hurt that I’m extremely romantic but I don’t play games with people’s hearts so you’d only see hints before engagement. I’m sure it’s easy to choose to see this all as judgmental or arrogant or bitter, but it’s just not so. How would you say the same but differently? So in closing - oh I’m 33 btw - I’m “ready to go,” and can only become “more ready” by degrees as I make more money and get in better shape. What are the girls waiting for? Beg your pastor to contact other pastors inquiring about qualified young men who might be solicited to get in touch with your pastor or father. Or you can show off your apparent theological convictions and spiritual maturity on Justin Peters’ Facebook page, and sign off with “btw I’m single, guys. Wife me up.” And you’ll get noticed. I don’t know how else I would find you personally. But here’s the thing: if you judge someone bye first impressions, NOT because they were spiritually ignorant or heretical but because their style of dress or speech or carriage annoyed you (it’s conceivable my comments here would do that for someone), then you are being FOOLISH and limiting your options for love. In fact, I would argue that if you meet a man who is exactly what you want, he’s not the one for you, because either a) you’re missing something, or he’s a sociopath or b) he’s going to frustrate you to death by not leading you well. You know you’ve find a man you can go with, if he says or does things YOU DON’T LIKE (William Gouge, 1622, said this is essential for submission to even be possible), but you can respect him, and trust him, then he’s the right guy, at least right enough to take a closer look at when considering a suitor. I think the reason marriages were frequently largely arranged by women’s fathers is because they know this, that the girl by choosing what she wants will INEVITABLY choose wrong. The man has to choose her. It is not for her to perform the initial screening step. It is for her to attempt to follow a man and see, upon reflection, whether she is feeling affection grow for him and if she respects him and wants to follow him. THEN she chooses him. Getting this out of order is causing untold misery among you young women, because you’re not giving excellent men a chance. But also you’re cloistered away where we’ll never find you. How are we going to know you’re worth the pursuit? Or that you exist to be pursued? I don’t have the time nor the obligation to court 1000 women at random until I improve my statistical chances according to Solomon’s observation. We need help. Your quality must be shown to is somehow. Think about how that might happen. I put a lot of effort into talking to you here, to try to make the world a better place. Consider for the moment, that men like me do this often, but we don’t have the energy to do it ALL the time. If this just gets ignored, consider how exhausting and exasperating that is for a guy, and how it disincentivizes making continued efforts of like kind, in trying to find a good woman. You complained that men aren’t finding you. Now you have someone engaging with you. Are you gonna blow it off and go back to complaining? Consider it not just for me, but any hypothetical guy who also likes Justin Peters which might imply a theological match, who sees this comment thread. It’s your opportunity to show what you’ve got. Then maybe someone can find you on Facebook if you use the same name, and reach out there. Stranger things have happened. I hope this is all useful to you, whether or not it’s pleasing. 💪

Regarding 1 John 2:2. I follow what Riccardi is saying, and especially the analogy with John 11, verses 50-52 is helpful. But exegetically, I have wondered whether 2:2 works for either camp. If it says Jesus "is" the propitiation, that seems possibly different from "Jesus propitiated". The grammar of the verse "He Himself" really emphasizes who or what Jesus is. In other words, it seems like it could be saying Jesus, not anyone else, is the propitiation. To give an example completely outside of the soteriology field, imagine if a cure for every cancer were discovered by a drug company. And the CEO said "This drug itself is the cure for cancer, not just for us, but for the whole world." Now imagine if two group of doctors divided themselves on this statement. One group said, "According to this CEO, there is enough of this drug to supply all the world", they would be mistaken. But the other group heard this and thought "Oh, that statement means this drug has cured all who took it". Both would be wrong. The CEO just was saying something about the drug itself. The drug is the fix for all cancer that the whole world has. The CEO was not addressing whether or not the drug had cured cancer yet ("Calvinist" doctors), nor was he saying that there was enough supply of the drug available to cure everyone ("Arminian" doctors). He was only saying that the drug is the cure for those everywhere who have cancer. Just for full disclosure, I am not at all trying to win the argument on Calvinism or Arminianism on the atonement. Nor am I trying to use this argument to create a middle ground. If you reply to this argument, understand that I am only approaching it exegetically. There are lots of other verses which I think are more clear on this issue.

How can that possibly be the responsibility of the sinner if they have no ability to choose Christ. I will not ever believe that God created some just to send them to hell for His glory. NOPE!!! As far as I can tell, "God so loved the world" in John 3:16 is describing HOW God went about loving the world, not that He loved the world "sooooo much". Just some ideas that came up. I believe that Christ's atonement was unlimited in its availability (for every human who has, is or ever will live), but only limited in its application (those who believe and put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of their sins). There is simply no scripture anywhere that says Christ ONLY died for the elect, but we do have plenty of texts that show that Christ died for all men and for the whosoever. I love you Justin, but I strongly disagree with the limited atonement view in Calvinism.
@seboryan

@justinpetersmin I don't see the scripture indicating that the atonement is potential, however I have some objections to the answers to the objections to Limited Atonement. There are a lot of special definitions based on presuppositions needed to defend against the objection verses. "World" doesn't mean the "world," specifically here. "All" doesn't mean "all" specifically here. This defense requires the reader to make a decision as to what the bible "really" means based on what they "know it should say." What are verse that specifically say the atonement is limited to the elect? The verses you covered can be used to imply that it is based on the word "few", but at the same time you have to discount the "all" verses. One might equally argue that "many" does not mean "many" based on context, book theme, or verses that say all. I believe that would be equally flawed hermeneutics. I am interested to know, what would be an answer to the Parable of the Treasure in the field? What does the man buying the field to gain the treasure mean if not the redemption of the world to gain the elect?

zandrello: Christ died for those who were under the law; and that all men were under the law, is shown by the fact that "whosoever will," may avail himself of the provisions of the gospel. The keynote of the Gospel call is “whosoever.” Whosoever Shall Believe: It is by faith that we are saved, and whosoever shall believe should see salvation. “God so loved the world, that he gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. “Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Rev. 22:17. “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Rom 10:13 No distinction is made; “for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek.” Christ came “that he might reconcile both [Jew and Gentile] unto God in one body by the cross,” and “through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” Eph. 2:16, 18. “…seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.” Rom. 3:30 The terms ‘by faith’ and ‘through faith’ have the same meaning. “I am the Door, by Me if any man enter in he shall be saved.” John 10:9 “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.” Rom. 10:12 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners." 1 Tim. 1:13. Therefore, since all are concluded under sin, it goes without saying that He came to save all. The provision is ample enough for all, but only those who believe can be made partakers. Unfortunately, too many will not acknowledge the authority of God's law, and will not confess themselves to be sinners, and therefore the "promise by faith of Jesus Christ" cannot be given to them; for we are taught in Gal 3:22, that it is necessary for men to be "concluded under sin," in order that they may be sharers in the promise by faith. This shows how the law works in harmony with the promise.

You are correct John 1:6-13 NASB95 - There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. 9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

We fail to consider the love of God in Jesus atonement, becoming heartless as being "potential" like an electric battery ready to be tapped and used, even commit the sin of pride that he died only for the elect, not seeking God in truth, but conjecture to and fro in imaturity despite being doctors of the bible, learning different arguments and never coming to the truth in John 3:16 "For God so love the world," with love that is compassionate and forbearing that even Jonah was taught about to those who are perishing or under comdemnation (John 3:18) without distinction, be they Jew or Gentiles, elect or non elect, not only in words but also fulfilled the sign of Jonah in the belly of the beast, having given his Beloved Son, Christ Jesus, as a sacrifice, died on the cross, and on the third day resurrected for the forgiveness of sin, (John 1:29) "the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world," with sin in the singular sums up unbelief in God incarnate, Christ Jesus, creator of heaven and earth, by means of unrighteousness outlined in Romans 1 & 2, so covers everyone born on this earth. Did not Jesus, (1 Peter 3) after he died on the cross and resurrected, visit the unbelieving antedulivians who were in prison to proclaim that he died for them so that they had no excuse for their unbelief and are condemned in the prison of hell. Even the unbelievers of today are without excuse not to believe for Jesus died for them. Also, Jesus died for the false teachers mentioned by Peter in 2 Peter 2:1-3, who were in a state of unbelief, hence under condemnation. It is an error to put the said false teachers as really saved since it is purported that Jesus died only for the elect, and even based verse 20 as context which is not the case but says that a believer can never fall into apostasy "if they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and are again entangled in it and are overcome, the last state has become worst for them than the first." Similarly, in Hebrews 6:4-6 "It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the coming age, and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their lost, they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subject him to public disgrace." Indeed, they having pride that Jesus only died for the elect can only mangle Scripture, as well as God's love that is truly amazing in his love and the attributes of his love.

I don’t have enough knowledge of either Calvinism or Arminian to distinguish between the two. I’m pretty confident that there are some points that both agree upon while others are vastly different. Then add another level of not every person in each camp can’t agree on everything in complete unity. I tend to go back to Scripture in both the Hebrew and the Greek to allow God to speak for Himself. To me the whole world means of every tongue and culture, gentiles. Not to mention that the Jews would be spread all over the world and marrying into gentiles of different cultures and languages. Christ came to reconcile humanity to God, those that accept Him and are drawn by the Holy Spirit. I would like to study more of this and then come to my own conclusions. Thanks for the video.

Jesus died for everyone who believes in Him and repents of their sins. The Elect are those people. The moment a man is saved, it becomes clear he is one of the Elect. Before that, we have no way to know whether his sins will be forgiven. It is not the Father's will that any should perish... Anyone can come to Christ. Really, it's preposterous to try and parse who is or is not among the Elect, based on arbitrary lines drawn by men through Scripture. The Atonement forgives the Elect, and anybody could be those God has chosen before the foundation of the Earth.

Why not just be straightforward about what you believe the Bible teaches and tell them that you do not know if He died for them? I believe the scriptures clearly teach that Christ died for all, so the simple answer to the sinner would be yes. John 3:16 states: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. It does not say: For God so loved only the elect that He gave His only begotten Son, that all the elect should not perish but have everlasting life. Justin and Mike, if what you are saying is true …. can I, in clean conscience, tell a sinner that Christ died for them? If your theology prevents you from answering such a basic question then you have a serious problem. So based on your theology Mike, if a 6 year old child comes to you and asks you "Does Jesus love me?" or "Did Jesus die for me?" … you cannot given them an answer. Telling them that the Bible does not permit me to answer such questions or to say that I dont need to entertain such questions is an absolute disgrace.

Very good and interesting segment. Enjoyed watching. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be save. Romans 10:1-13. John 12:32. When I was a young man I realized I was a sinner in need of a Savior. I confessed my sins, and called unto Jesus and accepted his salvation and I became a born-again Christian. Everyone has the opportunity to accept Chist but not all will. Agrippa told Paul, "You almost persuade me". I am not almost persuade I know Jesus saved me even though I didn't deserve Salvation. I have seen the Cavinst and Armenian debate in Seminary and was interesting to watch and from time to time participate. Personally I have put my faith in Jesus and have accepted him as Lord and Savior. I have seen extremes on both sides where proponents for each became enemies which is sad. Glad to see this video respectfully presented the topic. The important thing is do you know Jesus as Lord and Savior or do you not know him Lord and Savior. Clearly, both of these men are Christians.

Kinda odd argument; Christ has a love for His creation it’s not a saving love. That 6 year old needs to be told she needs to cry out to God for mercy and believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His life if perfect obedience and His death on the cross. Just like all of us .

@@dfischer5878 This response is similar to one you gave in another comment on this thread and again you have not answered either question presented by the sinner or the 6 year old. So again, why not just be straightforward about what you believe the Bible teaches and just answer the question? Tell the child that you do not know if Jesus has a saving love for them or if He even died for them.

@@benjamincoetzee1735 Where in the book of Acts do you find an apostle or evangelist, anyone, saying "Christ loves you" or "God loves you."? Right. Nowhere. They address sinners with "Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved." It's only in the last 150 years that evangelists have used, to any great degree, "God loves you" to reach sinners. Whether you are witnessing to an adult or child, use the book of Acts as a guide on how to evangelize. If the child or adult is elect, he/she will respond positively. If a child asks you if Christ died for him/her, answer Biblically. 'Jesus died for all the Father chooses (John 6); and, if you believe that He died for you, He will save you.'

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. (Romans 4:3, KJV) This is how anyone from the Old Testament was saved - by faith. It’s the same for the New Testament even though Calvinism twists it, but it is by faith (faith comes by hearing) through grace (Jesus paid the price while we were yet sinners)

Simon who bidden Jesus (gave a "party/get together") for Jesus & Lazarus just raised from the dead....where Mary, Laz'' sis, anointed the Lord and Martha served in the home of Simon. Quest: Who would have gone to a reception/party of anyone with leprosy if that person had NOT been healed?....so, that gives greater consideration to what/how/why Our Lord addressed Simon..."Simon, I have somehat to say unto thee..." and then goes on about a creditor and the two debtors, one being Mary and the other ?Simon? Also, that relationship ( the son of a Pharisee and all that entails, along with the money bag) with Simon that J Iscariot had, could be the reason he had "quick" access to the offices of the chief priests, rulers to plot against the Lord...what fisherman, tax person would have open door access to those offices?? Quest: Was J Iscariot married??? IF it is correct in following verse references and Acts1 mentions the office of J Isc, then it leads to a place beginning Psalms 109.5 down that tells of his children being fatherless and wife a widow and about his/their posterity, his own mother and forefathers.???? If these questions are ever answered in later vids and I am misguided, I stand corrected.

Can I suggest that using 1 John 5:19 as a precedent for interpreting world as "all without distinction" is not a good idea. Consider what you are doing. You are taking an instance where the meaning of "world" is intuitive (obvious) and then trying to impose that meaning on another text where that meaning is certainly not intuitive. The fact that you say, "This presents a difficulty" shows that the meaning you are imposing on "world" in 1 John 2:2 is COUNTERINTUITIVE. Can I please suggest that you go back to considering the possibility of a potential view? If the wrath poured on Christ was infinite in extent, and it was, then it is sufficient for all sinners.

Ransom speaks of a rescue... as when God ransomed the Hebrews out of Egypt. References to Christ's flesh & blood, His life, these are speaking of the incarnation wherein He assumed the totality of human nature to redeem it. The early Church saw the Work of Christ in terms of Recapitulation, Ransom (rescue), Moral Influence, Restored Icon and Christus Victor... that Jesus tasted death for every many which is why every man is raised bodily. The righteous and reconciled are raised to eternal life while the wicked and unrepentant are raised to judgment and the second death (as a result of rejecting Christ's provision). PSA (Limited Atonement) is a modern invention at odds with Scripture and the early Church. It's an assault on incarnation theology, perverts the nature of God and splits the Trinity wide open.

Every sinner has a death to die, and this death is the wages of sin. Those who will not die that death are those in whose place Jesus Christ died. It's easy to overthink the atonement because of how we are conditioned to think about debt and payment, but this would not have been a problem for those familiar with the sacrificial system of the Old Testament. The simple truth is that Christ was simply slain, a one time offering for sin, and the only sacrifice for sin. The determining factor on whether or not this sacrifice is applied to a person is based on whether or not Christ Himself, our High Priest, presents the sacrifice on their behalf. And this is determined by those who come in faith, according to the election of God the Father. Therefore, God's intention in the sacrifice of Christ is that the sacrifice would be presented on behalf of those He has chosen. The sacrifice is made, therefore, not on behalf of those who perish, but on behalf of those for whom the sacrifice is presented.

Jesus Christ gave His life for the whole world, whosoever believes in Him. John 11 25-26. It's a shocking heresy to diminish the power of our Saviour's incredible gift. God's love is not limited, James 4 8 shows that if we choose to draw close to Him, He will draw close to us. Nowhere in the bible either, does it say that the gifts of the Spirit are for men only. All are called to accept the gifts of teaching, preaching, and prophesying. Galatians 3 28. I pray daily for the misled victims of these heresies, especially the 51% of the world to whom they would deny the Holy Spirit if they could.
