When learning how to forage, one of the rules is pick only what you can positively id. When gardening, the same rule applies! The non-edible plant in my salad box is the Virginia Copperleaf, aka Virginia Threeseed Mercury.

Oh I wish I could share my photo. I was weeding a steep mound alongside my house and had 2 plants growing side by side that looked identical. Ordinarily I would have pulled them without a thought but decided to do a closer inspection. One had hairy legs and the other one did not. One was queen Anne's lace and I assume the other was hemlock.
