@@burritofueled7415 Already subscribed as a result of this video, and have watched a ton of Kevin's videos today. Kevin's respect for what he catches and the environment is awesome. I have mad respect!
@@bobbyj1917 my man's got sniped from his comfortable fine dining experience. Just having a nice lunch minding his own business and suddenly he's got abducted without his lunch. RIP to my man
@@oldfrend I know which one you're talking about, but my mind immediately went to the "Big. Meaty. CLAWS!!!" one when the poor guy got abducted from his lunch 😆
I had to put editing of my version of this video on hold yesterday as I have to teach class today and needed to work on my lecture material. That being said, I am hoping my version of this collab video will be edited and posted on my channel tonight!!!! Thanks so much for all of the kind words and encouragement!!! Cheers! - Kevin Update- My computer crashed after 10 hrs of editing footage and now I have to get tech support...may be a few days.
Upgrade to Apple…. I hate the company, but the computers don’t crash. I’m really looking forward to the video using the abalone hooks, etc…. Please include the process of making the cordage and hooks!!! The Wakame, I thought that was only endemic to the north west Pacific Ocean ? Does that mean if you are finding it in California that it is an invasive species? EDIT: I just subscribed.
Man the amount of things I learned in this video is insane. Definitely one of your best videos and hope to see your friend more often. He's so knowledgeable.
This is by far one of my favorite videos of Fisherman's Life If he made videos of him doing some fishing, forging, etc and talked about the history/archeology of the tools he uses or the tools that had been used, I would 100% love that.
Geeez. Kevin needs a PhD in cooking. That salad and tea looked amazing. I’d love to be friends with Kevin. Seems like a super knowledgeable and intelligent guy. Really enjoyed this bro.
Bro I literally began fishing because of you. I have been going 1 day a week and love it. I went from watching your videos and seeing how you rig your pole, tie knots, what baits to use, to actually catching fish. And I have been catching everytime I go out. All because of you man. Thank you for not just making videos but the eduxation you give man. Also I wear my Fishermans Life Hoodie and Neck Gaitor every time im out now.
At around the 5 minute mark I was fascinated by your buddy's story of native American fishing techniques thinking to myself how smart this guy is! Then he almost falls over getting up haha! It humanized him Life is precious
Lol, three points of contact! Using your hands is essential in the intertidal zone, and something we should not forget especially if you are 6'6" like me :) That's a long way to fall.
@@catchncookcalifornia1574 haha I bet thanks for the interesting info and for doing some entertaining finishing with my favorite catch n cook RU-vidr! Hopefully you can find time in your busy schedule to get out there more often! Much love and don't forget to practice what you preach.
As someone who studied marine biology in uni, Kevin really reminds me of some of my favorite professors. Love the cast of people that you know and bring in.
I’m gonna need to see that abalone hook fishing video that Kevin mentioned. That sounds like some amazing content for the both of you. Great video as always!
Love kevin man. I'm a massive forager myself and I'm also a chef. I put on little banquets every year where I forage food all day and then cook it in the evening for a group of people. It's my favourite day of the year :)
Dude. Wow. This is my favorite episode of any of the fishing videos I’ve ever watched on RU-vid, and I love the ones where you’re in the Sierra’s. So much information, including respecting our environment. Thank you guys for doing this and educating. Side note: I happen to be a Chumash descendent and I appreciate the respect shown when speaking about Native Americans, or any race for that matter 🙏🏽👍🏽. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Damn I need a friend like Kevin, I like learning about Native American way of life or primitive style living. It’s amazing what’s all around is here in Cali if only we just stop and have a look. Kevin you’re the man! Matt I’m from SoCal but I’m gonna do my best to make it to that block party!
If you could do an education video like once a month with Kevin, that would be great lol. And a cookimg one with your car dealer ( his name escapes me atm) that would be awesome.
I am grinning all through this video. That meal is something that would cost a fortune in a restaurant. Elegant and really beautiful. That in itself is funny given you're eating this on a forest floor. Even the tea! Hats off to you two, really nice.
Epoch video, feel like I was watching Taku a little. Loved the addition of your friend, Kevin. He is very knowledgable. Knocked it out of the park this time.
love Kevin miss him very much so happy to see him again, thanks for getting him out of the house Good Luck Kevin getting your degree and get back to making videos love both channels and Taku as well lol be well stay safe....
I, For one, really appreciate the lessons taught in this video. This kind of info, presented in this fashion, sparks marine interest in the youth AND the adults. Amazing work !! Keep it up!!
Honestly I love these information heavy videos. Its fun to learn more about the ecological aspects of fishing and learning about marine life! That was one of the reasons I got hooked on PhilosophyD videos too which is how I found Fisherman's Life!
This was one of the best video collabs I've ever seen on your channel! Friggin fantastic! I'm subbed over on Kevin's channel too now. Thank you to both of you! I'm looking forward to these shell hooks as well!
Dam bro! I've been cooking for decades and have used so many different things for my crust when frying, but NEVER have I thought of using Pork Rinds. That was awesome. Thanks for the video my Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
Would watch a collab between you two any day of the week. Doesn't even need to be fancy content either- just wandering around, discussing/eating what you find. Great stuff!
Dang son. First ol cleeter buys a racetrack and now these guys are having a whole street fair.. entertainment is on a whole nother level now. Tom cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow never done that stuff. Js
Very fascinating to have a friend that can pinpoint certain vegetation that's eatable. With that type of knowledge, you won't starve anywhere. Good luck with the fishing festival, hope a lot of people will come.
Inspirational! You inspire me. I have found out that literally a simple concept fishing makes me beyond bliss. Watching your videos just make my entire life. Thank you for doing what you do!!!
Not even finished watching the video and I had to pause to say THANK YOU!! You just wondered if it was “too much like going to school”- well, “school” ought to be like this!! Meaningful info, helpful enthusiastic teaching, fun vibe. You guys killt it on this one!! All the best to Kevin as he completes his doctorate (I earned one too, so I understand how hard it is!). Look forward to you two doing more collabs! 💐💐💐
This is a GREAT video. I love your normal videos, but having Kevin there giving his educational tidbits was honestly so interesting and overall fun to watch and learn. Congrats on the great day of fishing and amazing looking meal!
What a great video!!! I've been in and out of the hospital and my health has been less than great since late last year so with all the down time Ive kept my self distracted by watching Taku and Jocelyn's crazy back catalog (still haven't come close to watching them all) which led me to your work and I soon realized, while watching your crazy back catalog the role you played in promoting and supporting the rising fishing/cooking creators that make up y'all's scene. I love the distinct styles and personalities everyone. brings to the table but you are definitely a master at what you do!!t Thank you for keeping me going through some bleak times bro! You have no idea! And now I have to check out Kevin's videos!
