Ghost Pipe (Monotropa Uniflora) is popping right now, at least up here on this particular mountain.
It's a fascinating plant, an epiphyte containing Salycilic acid and possibly some other compounds, producing an anxiolytic effect. I've found it to be especially helpful for my back pain and winter depression, anxiety.
It grows in a synergistic relationship with mycorrhizal fungi in the Russsulaceae family. It appears in the Cherokee creation story and in the writings of Emily Dickinson. It grows in Conifer forests.
