Forbidden City is the widely popular name of the Imperial Palace in Beijing. On the list of the UNESCO World Heritage (quote): "Seat of supreme power for over five centuries (1416-1911), the Forbidden City in Beijing, with its landscaped gardens and many buildings (whose nearly 10,000 rooms contain furniture and works of art), constitutes a priceless testimony to Chinese civilization during the Ming and Qing dynasties"

Fact 1: This palace is the biggest imperial place in the world, it is three times larger than the Louvre Palace in France. Fact 2: scientists had made an earthquake experiment with wooden replica of the palace, built without glue or nails. Under magnitude 10.1, the building had just moved a little bit and didn't collapse. Fact 3: In the legend, the palace contains 9,999 and half rooms in this huge city. But through research, the city contains at 8,700 rooms. Fact 4: Puyi, the last emperor of China, is the youngest emperor in china's history. He became the emperor at 3 years old and abdicated at 6, which is at 1912. After the 2 world wars and the civil war, he became a common resident in the People's Republic of China, and he need to buy a ticket to enter his old home, the forbidden city(at that time the palace become a tourist attraction) Fact 5: the city was a home for 24 emperors. Fact 6: it would take a few day to explore the whole city(even no eating and no sleep). But even you done exploring, there are another 10 - 20% that hasn't been opened to public yet. Fact 7: The city is 144 hour visa free to visit.

It seem to be keep getting smaller, modern President palace is even smaller. I think the main purpose of having a big palace is to protect the Emperor, which is not that effective today. A lot of people protecting the President today find it more effective to have only so much guards station in the palace with guards patrolling nearby streets and army only minutes away.

Used to have 内城(inner city) surrounding the 皇城(royal city), forbidden city is the core of royal palace that surrounding by royal city. There are several videos of New Zealand and Northern India in the channel, but they are done two cameras earlier than the current 4K, so the quality cannot compare

Wow...how was there? Is it same like chinese drama?
@MosNeagu1975
@MosNeagu1975 6 лет назад
papa zola I dont think there is a “chinese drama”. It’s a paradoxal country - one country two systems. Beijing is a beautiful city, clean, etc. They have a stunning infrastructure ( metro, highways like in USA, etc) People are friendly, very curious about foreigners. There is law and order even if the country is a communist dictatorship.
