What does a lighter, faster Forbidden Druid feel like and how has SRAM GX T-Type been holding up in the first few months? I put my Druid long termer on a Fox 34 and Roval/Specialized carbon fibre diet to ride overnight support for my mate Ryan's crazy charity Everesting mission at Stainburn and it certainly rolled faster but was it too sketchy?
Let me know what you think of my experiment. Is it something you'd try? What would you change?

Great content as ever Guy! Can I get your recommendations for front and rear tyres for the winter. Woods, trail, mud and rooty stuff? 27.5 x 2.6? Cheers 👍

Currently building my Forbidden Druid V1, transitioning from a hardtail. Always good to see how everyone set their bikes up going to be running a Rockshox Lyrik Ultimate (160mm) thinking of changing Fox Float DPX2 to a coil but not sure who to go with for this bike (500lbs spring) any suggestions

Hy Guy....how does this druid is going with manual and bunny hop?
@GuyKesTV

A little bit more effort than a conventional bike with short chai stays at first but way more poppy than the Druid V1

Hi Guy, great vid.. Bit inspiring I've the bc bike race next year and was a bit worried would be way over biked using my trusty hightower.. Rather than stump up a load of cash for another bike (although idea has its appeal n+1) a diet maybe the way forward. Any tips where to start? Swap the tyres for forekaster or similar?
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV 9 месяцев назад
Hightower will do fine. Just think of it like one of those Paris Dakar racing trucks! What wheels and tyres have you got ATMO as that’s always where I’d start

@@craigmoor2752 cool, from memory the HDs aren’t actually much heavier than the SL’s so definitely start with tyres. Schwalbe Rock Razor’s look terrifying but they’re brilliant. Couple of gears extra speed but still a surprising amount of cornering grip. Plus they’re tough enough you don’t have to tip toe through the fun bits like you would on an XC tyre. Then just pick something like the Forekaster or Nobby Nic in a SpeedGrip compound up front if you want to be matchy matchy. That’ll give you much better rolling speed and then if you want to go proper light keep an eye out for wide XC wheels and fat XC tyres going cheap in the sales. Feel free to check in with me for advice though as some of that stuff (particularly tyres) is really bad for undermining control as you don’t want to be dropping into the awesome riding that you’ll get in the BC and realising you’re wearing roller skates not trail running shoes if you know what I mean!

I am building a V1 druid going for a lightweight build. At 5’11 195lbs size M frame, do you think i should go with fox 36 150’m or go with 34 140’mm to save weight?
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV 6 месяцев назад
34 is obvs the lightest but it really felt overwhelmed. The V1 pushes a fork even harder too and it’s a steeper head angle so I’d definitely suck up the extra weight and go 36. Or a previous gen Pike in 150 is an awesome fork that would work really well

Hi Guy, loving the Druid videos. I’m close to pulling the trigger on one but I’m a little unsure if 130 rear travel is enough or does the rear axle path make up for it? I’m currently running a yeti sb140 LR (27.5) which is such a fun bike! So I’m looking for a bike similar to that in a mullet setup. I’d say I’m more of a descender than a climber, so would the Druid be more suited to my style of riding. Many thanks Ross

From that description I’m pretty confident you’d love a Druid. Running the 140 fork has really highlighted how good the back end is. It definitely needs a very good 150 to have a hope of matching up. The pedal feel is similar to an SB in the way it feels solid under power but it claws up and over even better.

Can't stand the bike at the moment. There's no reason the bike in its stock configuration should rub in the lowest gear. Amateur design, if you ask me. And Guy, thanks for confirming I'm not the only one. No idea why you aren't infuriated by it (I suppose it is because you didn't have to pay for the bike). It's too expensive to not be sorted in low gear (or any gear) the way it is shipped.
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV 10 месяцев назад
No, it's literally grinding my gears too. I'm currently on WhatsApp with Forbidden trying to find a solution so I'll get back to you soon as I have any fixes. Apparently most likely cause seems to be that the rubber section hasn't been pushed home into position far enough 🤷‍♂
@seanrequiredfieldcannotbel1362
@seanrequiredfieldcannotbel1362 10 месяцев назад
@@GuyKesTV I've pushed that rubber protector piece as far into position as it will go. It does not go any further into position. Thank you🙏

@GuyKesTV Was it possible to resolve the idler issue?
@pintsizer
@pintsizer 5 месяцев назад
Had the same issue - easiest fix ever. Take idler pulley off and turn it around. Designed to have a larger spacing in that orientation. Not sure why they don’t come from factory as such. Only caveat is that you’ll now need a spacer for the chain guide. A plastic clip was shipped with mine which worked. Not sure if that was its purpose but nonetheless was a perfect fix.
