Makes me wonder if a lot of do and don't rules are just based on theory and opinions and not real tested experience. Thats why I appreciate these forbidden foods experiments. There's a lot to learn.
Just found your channel tonight! I'm watching through some of your experiment videos. I have very cautiously added citrus and other forbidden foods without any issue. It's all about moderation and checking on them. When I have an abundance of citrus I let the citrus dry out and then I pulse into a meal and I add it with egg shells in a moderation. I've never had any problem. Thanks for doing this experiment to demonstrate that moderation is the key!
I've often added small amounts of leftover salad, dressed with vinegar, oil and sometimes mayo or mustard. The worms don't seem to care, they just chomp through it. All your past experiments make me confident that they can survive fine with anything organic in moderation. Nice video as usual Emily.
A comment I'll make because I think about this every other video you do. Those Springtails!!!!! For frog keepers, and other hobbyists, springtails are golden! I have plenty for myself for my small geckos and they make great tub mates to my isopods, but I bet many people could really use some of the springtails you are 'accidentally' producing.
You are so correct! I'm always looking in my worm bins for springtails and never finding any. I would love to put them in my terrariums, especially when they are new.
@@SupremeGecko isopods and springtails can work together to clean up decaying matter. I should just get some rolly pollys from my yard and put them in my terrariums, like little cleanup dinosaurs. LOL
Great looking worms Emily : ) and yes they do love to congregate in the mushy stuff. When you added the newspaper, did you leave it dry or damp it down a bit? What a life your worms have, eating, pooping, breeding : )
Wow and they really looked great. Those ENC had a nice sheen on their skin. They look really healthy. I agree with you about moderation. Its the same with chickens too. When I started it was don't give them this or that and now I give them almost anything. Old cereal that is sugary, spaghetti, mash potatoes. If its something that they don't like they just don't eat it and it looks like the same with the worms. This was a fantastic experment. I'm looking forward to more. Thanks Emily!!! 😘👍😘👍
