One of my favorite genres is a good ol WW2 caper film and this film is one of the best. I so enjoyed this when it came out. And Ron Goodwins score is SUPERB!!!
I agree with all you said. I have a great fondness for the REAL WW2 genre pictures, the great caper flicks. I loved every minute of this flick when i saw it. Completely satisfied the "kid playing army" in me.
I rem I must have watched this film 1000's of times as a kid never really giving much thought to where it was filmed. I went to Rhodes 2 years ago and recognised every area which was used in the film. Awesome film and stunning island. Force 10 was ok but the original was the best.
Rest In Peace Brother, "MR. CARL WEATHERS". WE'LL DEFINITELY MISS YOU ! You going Apollo Creed & Action Jackson on the damn Nazi's. Have a drink with old "Robert Shaw QUINT" up there !
As war caper films go this is one of the most enjoyable. I am a complete sucker for a good war film and this one has all the elements. Not the least of which is the outstanding score. Big.. impressive.. hair raising. As it should be. For me this film is a classic.
What you showed was from the movie "The Guns Of Navarone". I've seen both movies . Force 10 from Navarone was a good follow up. Not taking things as fact is how to look at both. They're entertainment, and should be viewed as such. Both movies had great actors, 👍👍👍👍
Read the book "The Forgotten 500" which was written based on the stories of Americans which were saved by Draza Mihailovich's Chetniks. Which is not what this bullshit movie portrays.
As a kid, I saw Force 10 from Navarone 8 or 9 times in the theatre. But you’re right. This sequel never came close to greatness of The Guns of Navarone. But I still to this day, use the line by Carl Weathers, “That’s some heavy duty doggy doo” Haven’t seen it since the 70s
