2023 and everyone knows which one was the real problem in Force India (and in every team he has been). It’s hilarious how Esteban attacks or defends more aggressive if it’s his teammate or not.

Canada: (WHAT HAPPENED:)Ocon and Perez are following Ricciardo. Ocon tells pit wall that he believes he can overtake Ricciardo if the two Force Indias switch, and that if he can't he will give the place back. Perez refuses, Vettel catches them both and Force India (potentially, at least!) lose out on a podium place. (WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE:)Taking the example of Mercedes at Budapest, they could have allowed a *faster* car through and seen how the race developed. If Ocon can get by, brilliant, good call. If not, the two cars can switch back and all is right in the world. Azerbaijan: (WHAT HAPPENED:) Ocon and Perez are battling hard after the safety car restart in Baku. At turn 2, Ocon runs over the inside curb and squeezes Perez into the wall. Ocon loses part of his front wing and Perez is forced to retire from the race. Force India lose out on a podium and potential double podium. (WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE:) In this scenario Ocon is at fault, he hits the curb and collides with his teammate. Ultimately it is a mistake, and (as far as I'm aware) he apologies after the race. I believe that `Force India were right to let them race, and that sometimes these things happen, and Ocon (a rookie) makes a mistake. Apology. Whole thing is forgotten. Force India could warn their drivers to avoid further contact in future. Hungary: (WHAT HAPPENED:) At the start of the race, Perez drives through the middle of the pack going into turn 1, understeers (or doesn't apply enough steering lock, you decide) and collides (if at slow speed) with Ocon, forcing him off the track). Perez reports to the team that there was a "little touch FROM Esteban". (WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE:) Warn Perez against all further contact with Ocon, reasoning that regular contact between them is hurting them in the constructors championship. Spa (Incident 1): (WHAT HAPPENED:) On lap 1, on the run down to Eau Rouge, the two Force India's of Perez and Ocon are going three-wide with Nico Hulkenburg in the Renault. Perez, perhaps unaware of his teammate's whereabouts, squeezes him into the wall. Perez apologises to Ocon and excepts blame for the first incident. (WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE:) I don't actually think there is much that could have been done here. It's lap 1, it isn't deliberate, and they are going three-wide on a very slim part of the circuit. Perez accepts responsibility for the incident,, and the team can move on. I personally see it as a racing incident and don't particularly think that Perez was particularly at fault, given Hulkenburg was also to his left. Spa (Incident 2:) (WHAT HAPPENED:) Ocon and Perez are battling for track position. Ocon makes the switch-back move on Perez, who has taken a defensive line into La Source. Ocon moves to the right hand side of Perez, and edges his front wing alongside the rear tyres of Perez. Perez starts to close the on Ocon, and leaves (at most!) JUST a car-width of room between his car and the narrowing gap to the wall. Ocon, to avoid the wall, slightly straightens the steering and his front wing is damaged as he makes contact with Perez's rear right tyre. Ocon, has significant front wing damage, and Perez is forced to retire from the race having suffered a puncture. (WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE:) I personally believe that in this situation, both drivers have some blame in this incident, although I think that Perez is more in the wrong than Ocon. He hasn't really left Ocon any space and certainly hasn't left "a car and a half" to his right. Ocon could have backed out of the move, such as Raikkonen on Verstappen last year at Spa, although in this scenario if you back out of the move you aren't a true racer (personal opinion!). The team could have avoided contact completely through team-orders, given their collision at previous rounds and already at that race already. This could have been an instruction to Perez to let Ocon through, or for Ocon to hold back and not make the move, given they had already collided in the race. To summarise: Generally Perez has been in the wrong here more than Ocon. He was stubborn in Canada, refusing to play a team-game, aggressive in Hungary, and potentially dangerous in Spa. Ocon made a mistake at Baku, and may have played a part in the 2nd collision in Spa. The team have not managed the situation particularly well, and team-orders could have saved races in Azerbaijan and Spa. They could also have enforced a strict no-contact arrangement, which may have reduced the risk of the two colliding. Who's side am I on? Probably sliding towards Ocon, as Perez has been unnecessarily aggressive and stubborn.

If things actually get worse, does Force India have a ready and viable substitute driver? Officially their test/ 3rd driver is Alfonso Celis, but I imagine they may make contingency plans and deals with Williams to get Paul di Resta back for a race or two. Rushing a new rookie in with so little prep and testing would be a tough ask.
