Nor was it meant for gay/bi/trans/plus… people. Identy was NEVER an issue with Doctor Who when it was created - or through the majority of its 60+ year run. It’s only with the upsurge of “woke” ideology - and pandering to that ideology - that everything has turned to crap. It WAS a fun, thrilling sci-fi show. Now it’s a flag waving lecture exercise…and is haemorrhaging viewers as a result.

Having watched DR Who from its first inception, it’s now a complete load of woke garbage no longer worth watching. Never again, lost cause.

I switched off two years ago. I never switched back on and the tv has now gone. I don’t miss the moralisers, the hectoring, or shouting at the screen. Life is calmer, I get more done.

I decided not to watch it, but switched the tv on about 15 minutes before Eurovision. I had it on silent and watched a ridiculous song and dance scene. It's jumped the shark. Even my Doctor Who obsessive youngest daughter didn't bother on Saturday and still hasn't watched it on catch-up. I won't be bothering again.

I started watching Doctor Who in the Jon Pertwee era and as far as I'm concerned the last decent Doctor was played by Peter Capaldi. Jodi Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa are absolutely atrocious in the role and with the writing and show runners being so woke recently it's pushed all the traditional fans away.

What they don't understand anymore is they are there to entertain us not to give us their political views

Re Doctors. I used to watch it until about 18 months ago. I got sick of BBC preaching about the trans claptrap. One episode had the nurse sitting everyone down at lunchtime and giving them a lecture on what all the different flags mean!

I have to admit to sometimes watching Doctor Who out a a morbid fascination to see just how bad it now is. Not only is the Doctor now black and homosexual, but the storylines become ever more farcical, even when one thinks that they can't get any worse. I suspect that even most kids would be acutely embarrassed to claim authorship of these stories.

I saw the very first broadcast episode of DW and have followed it ever since, so I feel entitled to comment on the recent parlours state of the show since Chibnall’s disastrous tenure. The arrogance of these people is staggering, they preach to us about how we should live when they are barely out of nappies with sod all life experience. The utter contempt with which longstanding fans have been treated is shameful, we supported DW for literally decades, and yet we are being told we are irrelevant dinosaurs and instead this show now needs to pander to these ridiculous ideologies that have no basis in science or fact. I used to say one of the few things I would take to the streets to protect is the BBC, well guess what, I couldn’t care if it burned to the ground now, what a tragic demise.

I’ve watched Dr Who from the beginning with William Hartnell, I gave up with the 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi. I haven’t bothered to watch an episode since. Have they introduced the female Muslim doctor covered head to toe who looks out of a title slit on her niquab yet? Or is that yet to come.

I've been a Dr Who fan since the very first series with William Hartnell. Over that time I've enjoyed most of the episodes since then but there have been a few silly plotlines (mostly during Judi Whittaker's tenure). Overall well worth the many years of my unstinting devotion. But I sat through the first 15 mins of Space Babies then switched off. It was silly and childish (no pun intended). It was the first time since 23 November 1963 that I've switched off a DW episode. Nothing to do with wokery or LGBTQ+ (I am a gay man by the way). The Doctor should be flying through space and time saving the underdog, righting wrongs, saving planets from destruction, protecting friendly aliens and despatching villains and monsters. It was just embarrassing, daft and juvenile...!!

I'm very happy to have gay and trans friends but trying to make the whole world gay or trans, including all of our cultural icons, is just a turn off.

In the 60s Dr Who was for many kids was the TV. highlight of the week. This was in black and white and with very basic special effects.

This all started with James Bond. If they introduced Idris Elba as the new James Bond on a speedboat down the Thames most people would not bat an eye. The issue is that previously the Doctor may well have been gay or whatever, but it was never discussed, because, well why would it need to be? The difference is now the writers seem to feel the need to make it abundantly clear, and actually by drawing attention to it constantly, achieves the opposite of what they hope.
