@@JohnStephenson-x8x Yep, when the 3 point cylinder leaks, the loader doesn’t lower smoothly. Gets all jumpy as the position control valve keeps sending fluid into the cylinder to maintain 3 point position and the loader doesn’t get consistent flow.
Thank you for another instructional video. I have a 1700 also and no mechanical skills. Your videos have been very helpful and informative. Now if I could just figure out why my 3 point hitch doesn't move up and down at all.
Thanks for watching. Is your hydraulic fluid at the right level? Do other hydraulics operate (such as a loader)? Many possibilities. Regarding not raising - could be a clogged hydraulic filter, water in oil, insufficient fluid, bad position control valve, failed hydraulic pump… As for not lowering, could be the flow control valve is closed, or the arms are already all the way down. The 3 point uses hydraulic pressure to lift, but lowers under its own weight (or the weight of the attachment), with the drop rate controlled by the flow control knob beneath the seat.
Thanks for the reply! I'll have to check that. It's a work in progress. It was neglected for 20 years and I am just slowly trying to tackle it's problems one by one. Your videos have been a great help since I've never been very good at working on machines. I've learned a lot from them the tractor.
