I have a 1968 Ford 3000 gas on the farm, which is 1000 miles away at a mechanic’s near the farm getting some deferred maintenance fixed. It had similar problems with the gas tank re treasures and something plugging the petcock. He’s found a few other problems that might not have happened if the tractor was used more than a couple months a year. Thanks for the video!
I really appreciate it. I learned from my dad too. Some days we have three generations in the shop working. I'm thankful that he gets to spend this time with me, but especially with his grandpa. He doesn't realize it now, but I hope that he looks back on these days and smiles when we're gone. He's a little camera shy, but he's always around. Thank you again for subscribing.
@@theotrmechanic3624You reminded me in the videos of my dad teaching me years ago on the farm. And this post comment reminds me of working with my grandfather back in the 1960’s. Btw, you cracked me up with the ‘only make 3/4 of the mess’!
I fired up my heater today and warmed up shop and pulled F951 engine for rebuild and propane kit in reg It’s all done in house, valve job and head surfing plus maxi flux every thing
I’ve got a Ford 2000 with this 3 cylinder diesel engine and I’ve been wanting to rebuild the engine for years. I had the head off of it replacing the head gasket and almost, ALMOST, decided to then but ultimately backed out of it. I’ve never rebuilt one before. The biggest thing that scares me is timing everything again. Was that part difficult? Great video!
A 3 cylinder Ford is a great engine to learn on. The timing assembly is marked. You'll mesh the gears in time before the front cover goes back on. Get on line and order a shop manual for a 2000. They're usually only about 60.00. It will walk you through the entire process for assembly, including timing. These are great tractors, well worth the time and effort to rebuild. If you have the knowledge to remove the head, you'll have no issue going a little deeper. If you decide to jump into it and get to a point you have questions, feel free to ask me. I'll help as best I can.
@@theotrmechanic3624 i appreciate that! Yeah I need to pick one up. I’ve looked and there are some lower/higher end in frame rebuild kits and lower/higher out of frame kits. When I decide to pull the trigger on it I’ll likely go with the higher end out of frame kit. Did you replace things like the water and oil pump while you had it apart?
