I recently rebuilt my original 351c 4V Cobrajet. My original builder and machine shop screwed up, bearing stack clearances, and wiped my crank out. I went full roller on my build and managed to save my cam, but new crank, new roller lifters, and dealt. Side note: Cam Research out of Colorado has a rig to break in any flat tappet camshaft ahead of time to eliminate the risk of blasting a cam lobe or lifter. Last item, going roller, seriously pay attention to your distributor. It’s tell you, ditch that GM HEI, look into a Duraspark unit. You can run a 6AL off a Duraspark distributor and they are good to 600HP. DUI Davis Unified Ignition is another really good option. From being in the Torino Community, seen more than a few guys have issues from those HEI distributors. Also, had an ‘84 F150 years ago…miss my bullnose!!
