The sound of the 4000 brings back happy memories of the farm. My uncle had one and he put a Mil Mount trip front loader. I was always driving it clearing out cow sheds harrowing ploughing , bringing in hay or straw. The list is endless.
From memory the second and third letters denote where the vehicle was registered, in the case of the 4000 I think it's a Somerset plate. The final letter is the age identifier, J was between 1st August 1970 and 31st July 1971. The tractor runs are lways a good video, thanks Matt.
Looked like a great day out, the children and dog look well. Thank goodness your missus got you the ear muffs, I remember we used to have them in every 4000, 5000 etc. That certainly brings back memories, including those of people no longer with us but who made a huge impact on me. Childhood memeries that is, my dads main tractor was a Ford 3000, simuler engine 3 cylinder diesel banger, cab everything, drove that tractor more hours then my dad myself I think. What a awesome workhorse. Only issue was the head gasket was replaced 4-5 times and the brakes wore off quick with all the 1 wheel turns with the plow. To me that tractor engine is music even today.
Great to see good memories. Drove a 4000 and a 4600 when I worked for bees nurserys chester way back in 1969. Really great tractors. I still remember all ways put the top link at 29 inch. Great video thanks for the memory 😀
We had the exact same tractor as this one , but in my favorite different blue maybe it was in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 a different color. however memories remain 🥰
Great machine I am using a Massey Ferguson 165 daily on my livery stable that is the equivalent horse power of that era,they will still do a job of looked after.
Greaat video Matt there was a ford force out before that model that is a safty cab that was compulsory, The chance is that the up and down valve is stuck in the hydraulic cylinder, the ignition switch had a preheat if you turn the key to the left that was optional, year was the last letter after the numbers you could get a delux cab that had sound proofing
