For every one saying it's stock at that time it had a icon 4.5 inch lift on it and 35" a/t's on it and yes I was in 4X4 but only the back has a locker in it the front is open so most the time only the drivers side was spinning.
on the front yes, 4x4s come with an open differential up front. there are a few that may have a front locker (i think the FJ might but idk) the z71 chevys have a g80 locker in the rear, but still have open diffs up front (upgraded version of ford limited slip)
yeah the g80 is an upgraded version of the ford LSD, but newer fx4s come with a locker in the rear i believe... both tires spin most of the time actually. Its just when your stuck that one tire looses traction and that wheel spins, the other dosent. If you dont believe me look it up "open differential" its pretty common knowledge in the 4x4 community
hubs have nothing do do with it. Its the differential, an open diff will send power to the wheel that doesnt have traction, thats why only 1 front wheel was spinning
F-450- hauls anything, off-road...not so much. Was it in 4-wheel drive? That 6.4L PSD sounds wicked though!! Whats the 6.4L have done to it? Spartan or Innovative custom tunes? Elite Diesel tunes? anything else?
@sstroh08 No doubt some trucks get 20-22 MPG, but F-450 dully diesels do not. Not even close. Look at any blog by F-450 owners, they are trying to get 12 MPG on the highway.
@kstall3 not on gas of course, but with a diesel 20 to 22 is not out of the ordinary for a truck like this, ive heard of trucks that have got close to 30 or more on the interstate, of course this guys wasnt but i mean driving normally, i know of a chevy duramax i have seen that makes around 700 hp and 1000 lbs of torque and will get arouind 20 mpg driving normally on the interstate
So fords use a g80? I no for sure that ford f150s use a lsd in front and some have the locker in back with a package. Who has a better lsd? ford or dodge?
My two cents; four wheel high would have been a better option... And for anyone that has never had experience with a 450 they never get good mileage. You don't buy on to do that, you get it to haul like a champ. With 4.88 gears you better not plan on getting mileage. Mine currently is lucky to get close to 8mpg, generally stays right around 7mpg.

I thought the auto-locking hubs were supposed to lock in both front wheels, because I would see fords where the left front tire would spinning then the right one would kick in and start spinning.
I think his just showing all that nasty smoke if he would have back up a few feet and create momentum his out of that pot hole in 2 wheel drive and those who have been mudding know what I'm talking about
NO! chevys use the G80, and NO! f150s dont have an LSD up front... It doesnt matter who has a better LSD, buy a ford dodge sucks. If you want to do a lot of off road get a lift kit, tires, and then a locker.
