Lost my Dad in 2000 and it warms my heart the way you curse each other. Anyone who saw my Dad and me sorting lambs would have thought there was going to be murder but we were best friends and I miss him every day. Good luck to you.😂
Well that's lovely comment. We fck the heads off each other all day and at the end we be laughing 😂😂 farm life. Thanks so much for the comment. Glad you like the video. Keep them coming 👍👍 Sorry to hear about you're dad. Cherish every moment 👍
I think your videos are the best on RU-vid, your Dad impresses me so much every time, and you will follow his footsteps with your strength and attitude.
You will have to get someone to look at it and give you a price on it depending on what needs doing. I would get everything working on it and get it serviced regularly after that and it will last for years.
The main thing engine gear box ,leaks the tin work is fine change oils filters every 2 years If really busy once a year that tractor will out last you a little bit of simple mantinace and grease
Your Dad's stories of his childhood are priceless. What a great opportunity to entertain us and at the same time keep his memories alive for future generations! I would just repair the tractor, not restore it ( if by restore you mean paint, fix the dings. etsc.). It has character the way it is. Hydrogen pyroxide will make maggots leap right off your ram's heads! Then the blue spray. Not sure if you have fly repelland paste in Ireland, but if so, put a dollop of it on the head of the injured ram when he butts heads with another ram it will transfer over and repel the flies if that ram get injured.
Thanks a lot. Appreciate the comment, glad you like the video, keep them coming 👍👍 Ya very true. If I only got rid of the rust myself and sprayed it myself. It would make a big difference 👍 Ya he loves his old time stories
Thanks a lot Nancy for the comment, appreciate it. Glad you liked the video. Ya it's great fun working with him. Great laugh👍👍👍 sorry to hear about you're dad.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it 😉 she’s looks a straight old tractor, I’d just keep her going and do the bits that’s needed as they crop up, people tend to prefer them original and with the battle scars….they call it patina 😂
Will ya be making a video of the different groups of ewes going to the different breeds of rams and what expectations ya have for there offspring ie replacements/butcher lambs/factory lambs .Great videos and great stories 👍🏻
Enjoyed that Glynn.great to listen to your dad talk about his child hood years. The banter between you two is great I'd say typically of alot of father and sons working with each other, savour every minute of it,it's precious You made light work of turning that ram up.
Thanks a lot Nicola for the comment, appreciate it. Glad you liked the video. Ya rams are very tough to turn, it's great working with him tbf we get a right good laugh together 👍👍
I would fix the old tractor ,cheap horsepower. We run 3 40 year old tractors plus one new massey 4 wheel drive with loader. You and your dad remind me of my youngest son and myself
Restore that tractor All day long engine sounds good to get needs good service bit by bit get doors panels instrument working small money compared to replacing with modern machine remember that 66 will hold it’s value for years to come
Thanks a lot Patrick for the comment, appreciate it. Glad you liked the video. Ya they are a super tractor tbf. Plenty people have approached in the past about buying it.
Keep the old tractor mate! I’ve soviet Belarus tractor and they’re generally notorious for being indestructible! Realistically only rich farmers can afford modern big tractors like John Deere and all that! If you’ve lots of government support and money from them then you should buy a modern tractor but if not then stick to the old ones
Very true.. Im probably better off keeping it and doing a few small jobs myself.👍Thanks so much for the comment. Glad you like the video. Keep them coming 👍
The thing to do with the tractor is this, promise yourself, and the tractor that you will do it up like new, just dont say when, and it will run for the next forty years. Remember its very important to have a project you are going to do whether you do it or not doesn't matter, it's the going to do that matters. I hated school with a passion, the ould headmaster was from Kerry, his nick name was baldy, and that is all I'll say about him. I escaped school school at fourteen, and never looked back. I'd enjoy a chat with your father, we could swap stories for hours. Keep up the good work. Kind regards Eamonn Leonard.
Thanks a lot for the comment, appreciate it. Glad you liked the video. It sounds you had a similar upbringing to my father. Call here to kilgarvan anytime for a cup of tea. Door always open to everyone. He loves a good pint and story telling

Hello there hows things question have you a email address so I can get the number for the fella with the texel rams if I bought them off the farm would be great 👍
Keep that tractor you could not find one as good anywhere without digging deep into your pocket there are loaders lying in farmyard s /scrapyards that will fit that tractor
Restore the old lass if it's not blue it won't do. Doesn't look in bad shape anyway you'll never get anything more solid or reliable for what it's worth again. And a quad or garter will never get were that old lass will in snow or a wet time with a big bale
Very true. The biggest issue I have will be the cost. Any idea what it would cost. Over 10k? Thanks a lot for the comment, appreciate it. Glad you liked the video
Might not be easy to get bits for the cab. It's a Fritzmeier cab that were only fitted on the Antwerp built Ford's and not the Basildon built Ford's due to noise regulations in the UK. Lots off the Ford's imported on to Ireland came from Antwerp. We had a 4600 and 6600 with the same cab. Worth restoration differently. They are beginning to climb in value lately..
As a Ford man, I would say fix the 6600 up and keep it. I have a 7600, 6700 and a tw20 all with Q cabs. They are bulletproof tractors, no computers, available parts and will outlast the new ones hands down….
It takes a lot of time, work and cash, Glyn. She's been inside and the tinwork is good, though. We've done up a John Deere 1130. You'll never get the money back you put into them restoring them, it's just a labour of love. My father and I are both Panel Beaters, him being my tradesman back in the day. If I knew how to I would send you pics of ours. I saw some of the videos I mentioned to you on eBay, Glyn. Grand videos; cheers my heart.🙏👍
I'll try and put pics on here of our tractor. My brother is doing up a Ford 3000, presently, and then he's going to start on a David Brown. We've got a hellova lot of deer here; they're unchecked now and coming into the gardens.
Thank you so much John. I really appreciate it, thanks a million 👍👍 Ye are fairly handy so, I could do with ye for a week 😂 nice few repairs needed here😅 Ya I'd say a lot of cash needed. Are we talking 15k?
Vert true.. Great hardy tractor. Has put up with plenty abuse over the years. Thanks so much for the comment. Glad you like the video. Keep them coming 👍
happy new year to you glynn and your dad. i have a first couscin in currow near faranfore near kerry air port/ his name is jimmy o sullivan, his a cattle dealer, his father is called paddy. do you know my couscin jimmy o sullivan?
That tractor has had a fresh engine with the better rotary injector pump, much better power output and a tad more reliable. I would do it up for sure. Imagine all the bits that would fall off that tractor and it would still work, unlike the new plastic disposable tractors.
Very true sandy. It depends on cost of restoration. But I'll probably end up leaving it the way it is. If its very expensive.. but ya quads do all the work
Absolutely brilliant that dog Sally is a genius make sure she's locked up at night like Fort Knox there's a lot of Sheepdog stolen every year in Ireland keep up the great work👍
Your Dad has great stories of his youth, those are grand Rams,do they fight much?,the ford 66 sounds good wouldnt go spending big money on it doing it up especially when you dont use it much, like you said maybe you could spray it up yourself once its mechanicaly sound i wouldnt be bothered pumping money into it,
Spray lingerie is probably the most thing I want to do. Maybe if I sort out the rust I could spray it myself. Might work out cheap enough. Thanks so much for the comment. Glad you like the video. Keep them coming 👍
Very good point. We don't have much cash left over once the year is over. Maybe a few small jobs on it. It everything nowadays is so expensive. Thanks so much for the comment. . Keep them coming 👍
Ah yea! He’s cheeky alright 🙃 you can tell in his smile 😄 you make an amazing team! It’s wonderful to watch you every week! Thank you for your time and effort the both of you. You’re two amazing farmers 🐑
Couldn't quite tell by the sound if your tractor is a gas or diesel. It sounded more like a diesel to me. It sounded like it cranked a little bit slow. Maybe get the battery checked. Make sure the battery posts and cables inside are shiny, not black. Check the ground cable where it fastens onto the frame so it has a good ground. Take it off and sand it clean. Check the terminals on the starter so they do not look rusty or burnt. Sometimes it may be corroded battery cables under the insulation. It could be a starter that needs repair. Battery cables are free to check. Testing a battery may be free? If you do these things, you may not need to sell. Hopefully some helpful hints from a tractor mechanic of 49 years.
Thanks Robert, for all that helpful information, great detail there and I will so that. Appreciate the comment, its a diessl👍 It's going fairly well but ya a few small jobs and it would be A1
Omg memories Don’t know if it is worth it but if you love the tractor Fancy it up we had a old Minneapolis Moline don’t remember if it was late 40’s or early 50’s Dad wanted to restore it in the 80’s but he couldn’t get the parts but he drove it 70 miles in top road gear on the highway He had to go up a steep grade and told my sister who was following for backup not to follow because if it lost power he would have to bail then when he was almost home he needed diesel They cleared the gas station and these 3 old farts debated wheither it needed water too and how best to get fuel in it😂 Dad parked it in the field to cool it down About 10 years later he sold it for parts after giving up restoring it It broke his heart and my sister’s too Me I hated the temperamental great Beast I loved our Ford 4000 he was a gem and had the heart of a lion❤
Glyn you and your Dad are the A TEAM of farming videos on RU-vid it's a joy to listen to his stories A few f words from time to time and yeah get on with the work and i get a laugh F**k i really enjoyed the video 😂😂 Looking forward to the next one
Yes do the tractor up the old things last the longest just look at dad I would love to sit with dad with a cuppa listen to his stories he make me laugh all the time you never mention your mother is she still around
Ya she sure is, Ya he's a a gas man, older tractors give less trouble I'd say, you're right. Glad you like the video again👍👍👍 sure call over for the tea some day👍
Some crack ye bucks all ould lads must be the i farm sheep on my own and have joint herd of sucklers with my father and there does be some fu@@ing matches ill tell ya servied my time as agriculture mechanic service that 66 tidy up few light and few bits of glass she'll do another 40 years biggest problems with them fords was engine going pourious that should have x block engine was better that first of them 👍👍👍
Cheers for that info. Ya always a fcking match here.. half the stuff I can't put on here 😂👍 Ya I'll do a few bits to it alright, hopefully it won't cost that mich and treat any rust. Thanks for the comment
Great video. Good to see im.not the only one suffering maggots, curse this year. Your rams look ready for work. Will you be doing a video on breeding plan, rams for ewes? Keep it up lads.
Thanks a lot for the comment, appreciate it. Glad you liked the video I sure will be doing a video on rams and what breed we put with them. Probably in a few weeks time👍👍
Thats a nice straight original looking 66'... Especially with the fritzmeir cab.. you should just do the small bits for to tidy it up as is. first anyway... Think it would be more original that way.. Great channel.. 👍
Sound Shane. We are well used to hard times here and bad weather, fck all money to be made in sheep. A bad year, Sally is a super dog in fairness. Appreciate the comment and glad you like the video
anytime buddy. I love watching you 2 together it reminds me of me and my dad lol especially when he gets cranky at you haha. Keep up the great videos and stories times
I brought my daughter out the galtie mountains, to the top and her best memory of it was watching boots (you know you are ) working 4 dogs...something spectacular in fairness
I was talking to a local farmer who spoke some fair wise words to me there over the summer.. I gives him a hand with the silage every year, I asked him would he not be interested in upgrading the oul shook massey he has and the mower, He replied, sure all the boys have there new tractors and are still making the same money on the farm as they were before they bought them.. Never actually thought about it like that.. He said hed love a new tractor, but it wouldnt make him any more money at all.. A bit of comfort he said thats about it..
Well that is a great statement by that man. I told that to the ole lad. He said he's dead right😅 Very true. We'll hold onto our 6600 for now anyway. Appreciate the comment. Keep them coming
Jaysus glyn that tractor is fresh man.,shes all there good straight tractor, original cab and mud gaurds look tidy. Be great to see her restored all the best with her
Restored the ford 4000 few years back and the 7840 over covid in 2020. The body work and lights is all as I had to get any machincal work done. If youve got the time its doable. I learned how to spray off youtube and while a professional of course would pick out some bad points I was happy and proud of my job. Got a little better before I odne the 7840. Need a really good spray gun and some wherer nice and clean. the taking apart and prep work takes the longest and the skill is in the spraying.
Cheers for that helpful information. I'll be youtubing it like you so👍👍😂 Everything is so expensive now, fair play to ya for doing all that. Appreciate the comment. Keep them coming👍👍
You should not get rid of or trade in the 6600, it is a simple model without electronics without any fuss, little can break, the tires still seem good... replace filters, new oil, clean condensation water from the fuel tank a bit and it's nice. continue to use it, so that your father can also drive it
@@sheepshepherd I am a farmer in the Netherlands and have sheep and cattle, and I enjoy your vlogs and enjoy the efforts of the sheep dogs, great, keep it up
Hi Glyn, good job on getting that big Ram on his back. It is good that when they are on their back their immobilized. Enjoyed the stories by your dad and he sounded like he was a real rebel when he was young. I guess his quick wit kept him going on through life. Once you are able to move the sheep out to pasture it will be nice not having to keep moving them one place to the other.
It would be better to sell the ford on as it seems altogether and a good resto project be better to sell it and add the expense of buying a loader and trying to mount it and tidy up the old girl to something a little bit more modern with a loader its not used a whole lot by the look of it but maybe if it was more fit for purpose plus the loader with a set a forks at the new house would be worth its weight in gold
Brilliant dog work ---You need to clean up your language however---it's not as though there isn't enough trash already on the internet and not a very favourable Irish portrayal besides!!!
Its lovely to see real people down to earth with no agenda's other than show how they live day to day good honest people i lived in ireland on the west coast for a load of years and the people are just what you see is what you get
