You make this really complex task look easy! And the end result looks absolutely incredible. When I inevitably re-do mine I'm going to use this as a reference on how to do it right! 🙌
I appreciate it! I did struggle a lot with this one and to be completely honest I don’t know with 💯 confidence that they are done correctly, I will install them on my running car temporarily so that I can break it in and find out if there are any issues 🫡. If I nailed it I will do a second video that is a proper tutorial 😎
I really appreciate you James! Thanks for the shirt and thanks for being a great friend! 💯 I made it look too easy 🤣 you know the truth man, this was a stressful project
I appreciate it Rick! It definitely wasn’t easy, specially because I didn’t have any experience doing gears. James is definitely a cool dude. There is a handful of people here that are like family, and you are 💯 one of them too Rick!
Im 💯 sure you can do this, it isn’t exactly difficult work, it’s more like tedious work. I had to assemble and take it apart more times than I can count to change the shims. But if you got some patience you can definitely get this done 😎🤘
I built my rear-end the exact same way using the ford racing carrier except i narrowed my rear-end enough on each side so that i could use the short explorer passenger side 31 spline axel on each side of my pinto that i got from rock auto for 60 bucks each. And run 4.10 gears. My rear-end came out of a 07 mustang so it was already setup with 11" disc brakes . I love the carrier though it works really good allowing both wheels to spin during a burnout or grip while doing a pull
@@79beans347 that’s awesome!!! Being able to shorten a rear end is a skill I would love to have! Your feedback on the carrier is super valuable, it’s the first time I use it, so Im glad to hear you love it! Rock auto has awesome deals 💯
8.8 diffs are awesome , cheap , plentiful , explorer diffs come with 31 spline and disc brakes , perfect swap in for my 50s dodge cars and plenty overkill enough for my junkyard small blocks mopar builds , exact same width and same 4.5 bolt patterns 👍👍
That is awesome! I’ve heard of folks using them on G body Chevys and a few people running them on Jeeps! But this is the first time I hear of someone installing them on a Mopar! Yea the explorer stuff is really good for a budget build, I would definitely use it, but I had that carrier sitting in a shelf so it was basically free! Thanks for watching and commenting 🫡
@@excelfrost7056 I replaced the bearings on this differential, because I bought it used and I didn’t know if they were good. Also because I replaced the carrier with a new one. I think if all I doing was gears I would consider reusing them. I uploaded a really short video before this one on how you can remove the pinion bearing without damaging it. Thanks for watching! 🙏
