Thank you , very good video . I have serviced my vehicles for 60 years myself but never replaced a cabin filter .Now I have learned something new. Ron.
Thank you for letting me know that you enjoyed my video. I appreciate it. I am glad I could help you learn something about your truck. Actually. Most cars have them in the same area as well. Some are easier to get to than others. Take care.
I àsked my dealership about replacing mine a while back and they told me MY XLT DIDN'T HAVE ONE. They said only the Lariat and up models had one. Ridiculous.
You are welcome. I am always happy to help. It’s always nice to hear that people appreciate my videos and wonderful to hear that I am helping people save money. Thanks for commenting. Please help me out and consider subscribing. Take care.
You are welcome!! Always happy to hear that my videos are helping people. You can do this. First time May take you a few extra minutes but after that you will know and can do it quickly. Take care.
Is this removal procedure standard across all f150s? I have a 2004. I'm not 100 percent sure mine has one, and the internet is giving me mixed answers and part numbers
Please next video add a description of the vehicle, such as make model and especially the year(s) Note: Ford did not add cabin air filters to the F150's until 2015
This information is already in the video description. “This applies to #2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 F-150 Models. 2014 and prior F-150’s did not have a cabin air filter.”
if you can replace it yourself always do. As a dealership technician i can tell you the price of the cabin filter is way overpriced, $60 to $90 depending on the dealership. You can usually get the cabin filter at walmart, autozone, oreilly's etc for $30 to $45. Most of them are extremely easy to do and will take no time at all to do.
The 21 & 22 F-150’s are even easier! You don’t have to remove the dash. So easy. 2021+ Ford F-150 ~ IN CABIN AIR FILTER ~ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RTAZ2o5nae4.html
Excellent video! Just one thing: I live in Nevada, even with all the flying dust we have, these filters will usually last 50,000 miles before they restrict airflow.
For as cheap as the filters are to replace them yourself. I don’t mind replacing it every 3 years. The dealers obviously want you to change them more than you need to so the dealership will make more money.
It’s in the video description. Says, “This applies to #2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, F-150 Models. 2014 and prior F-150’s did not have a cabin air filter.” Thanks.
Great! Glad it helped you out. Really simple and hopefully saves you some money instead of having the dealership do it. Thanks for commenting and watching. Please Subscribe. I have other Ford videos and plan on doing more soon.
was thinking about doing this on my dad's F150 since every time I ride inside it my allergies act up. But then I realized it doesn't apply to his 2014, how did they never have a filter...
Zomby Woof yes. Things have changed. I don’t believe they were putting cabin air filters in the 92 model. They became standard in 2015. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
I got the 2012 F -150 3.5 Ecoboost and although it's not terribly hard to change that filter I can sure understand why the dealer would charge 60 bucks. You think Ford would have come up with a more a streamlined access.
@@mitchcox no doubt I totally agree. I remember it use to be cost effective to change your own oil and filter but with the high cost of oil these days it really isn't worth the few dollars you save doing it yourself. I been changing my own oil for 40 years but today it's not worth the 10 bucks I save doing it myself. Clean up, getting rid the old oil and filter etc just ain't worth the small savings. I bring it to Ford and the other plus is it generates maintenance records.
Thank you!! Just trying to save people money where and when I can. I hate over paying for East car maintenance that pretty much anyone can do. Take care. Please subscribe.
I went on Amazon and couldn't find a filter for my 2014 F150 XLT 3.5 ecoboost - on forums they say there is no cabin filter !?! - could you give me the Amazon order/part # - thanks

This one is a 2015 F-150 XLT. I have a newer video on the 2021 F-150. They made it much easier. No longer have to remove part of the dash. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
Yeah, They have been in most cars for years. Not sure why Ford just recently started adding them into their trucks. Thanks for watching and commenting. Merry Christmas!
I have a 2011 Ford F150 XLT I have 262,000 miles on it I’m sure I need to change this filter band and hopefully it applies to this model as well as I can tail airflow is restricted it’s not blowing like it should
mitch cox yes Mitch I just found out by talking to the auto parts stores the 2011 Ford F150 XLT did not have one so I’m just wondering why I don’t get a strong airflow like I should
RK Smith I am not sure about F350’s. Sorry. I know on older F150’s they used to be optional so not all F150’s had them. I think from 2013 on up they started to be standard on all F150’s. I guess they aren’t standard on F350’s. Sorry. Thanks again for commenting. Take care.
It’s in the video description. “This applies to #2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, F-150 Models. 2014 and prior F-150’s did not have a cabin air filter.”
$30 for a filter, and $30 for less than a half hour labor is completely fair. I mean I understand doing it yourself is cheaper but that’s about an average cost for replacing a cabin filter. Our current labor rate is $105/hr. But we also don’t charge extra labor for filters that are fairly easy to access. PS cheap filters on amazon don’t do shit at cleaning out pollen/exhaust/dust.
If there are exhaust fumes inside your car you have a huge problem and everyone inside would pass out and die! It just filters dust and pollen and allergens and keeps your HVAC evaporator coils clean!
Not exhaust fumes from your vehicle but from all the outside vehicles. Any air that you breath inside the cabin comes from outside the vehicle. So Yes. It does help filter out exhaust fumes from other vehicles not your vehicle because your exhaust is coming out near the rear of the vehicle.
Even on recirculating, it brings in some fresh air from outside to keep the inside air from getting stale. So the cabin air filter still helps here. When not using the recirculating button, it brings in much more fresh air from outside. I recommend to use the recirculating setting when using the AC and not use it when using the heater.
My experience. In the winter when I have the recirculate on it makes my windows foggy. A quick google search, “You don’t want to use Recirculated Air in the winter because it traps humidity inside the car, resulting in super foggy windows - not good! So when it’s cold outside, make sure that Recirculation is NOT selected. “.
This was done on a 2.7 liter V6, but all F150's from 2015+ have these now in the same spot. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please subscribe, more videos coming soon.
eric rieman there probably isn’t one in your truck. They put them as standard starting with the 2015 year. They were optional or only put in some of the higher end earlier models.
I am pretty sure that your model year did not have one. I don’t think they started adding them to F-150’s until the later years. Hope this helps. Thanks! Please subscribe.
MN Outdoors found this online. “The 99s did not come equipped with a cabin air filter. Some few had dealer-installed kits (Ford Kit #F65Z-18D477-AA), but this is not terribly common.”
I have a 2018 Ford F-150 but when you snapped that top part out to get to the screws I tried it and only a rubber piece game out and there was still some panel blocking the skrews. If anyone knows how to get that piece out please help.
Sorry. This is a 2015 but the process applies to 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 models. Years prior to 2015 did not have cabin air filters. Hope this helps.
Why the heck do they make it so difficult to access the filter? They could have designed it to be easier to pop in & out for such a regular maintenance item.
My dealership told me that my '17 F150 XLT didn't come with cabin air filter. They told me only the higher end models like Lariats and up had them? Has anybody with a XLT replaced theirs?
@@mitchcox Then my local dealer has no clue what their talking about. They also told me I didn't need a catch can on my 3.5 EB. They suck. Thank u!☺️☺️
If you have an earlier year, they didn’t have them as a standard option. They were optional as part of a package. Most recent years they have become standard as far as I am aware.
juan alas this is a 2015. Starting in 2015 they made the cabin air filter as standard. Prior to those years they only had a mesh screen to prevent leaves and other debris from entering the cabin. Prior to 2015, In cabin air filters were offered as an option for some trim models.
As the description states: This applies to #2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024 F-150 Models. 2014 and prior F-150’s did not have a cabin air filter. So you don’t have to worry about it. Take care.
Modified my 2001 to fit a filter, OMG, not an easy hack, unless you are a double-jointed chimpanzee sized person. I took my passenger seat out and still was cramped and had to use a light and mirror to see back in there. Used a box cutter, wood chisel, screwdriver and file to make the hole big enough for the filter to fit. PITA, but its done. I now get to run in the desert and not get grit in my teeth through the A/C.
@@mitchcox 2001 it is under and behind the glove box and was only an almost never checked option, so mine needed to be modified (cut open) to fit it and it is very close to the floor, only visible with a mirror and light. There are a couple videos on the mod. here on youtube and I'm just glad it was possible as I do a lot of desert running.
Sorry, but IMHO changing these every 12K is absolutely ridiculous. In normal circumstances every 75K would be fine. If the AC is used constantly or if someone smokes a lot in the vehicle more....but 12K naw…...that's like changing your oil every 5K mi.
Yeah. You are probably right. I will probably do it every couple years. But probably forget. Ha ha. I just mentioned the recommended time to change it.
OIl should not go more than 5K or 55. Are you not aware of acidics, condensation, dust, contaminations, etc? Look up the API and don't give uneducated advice online. That mileage given in the owners manual is nonsense to every mechanic on the planet. And engine builder!
@@92040kns For the last 32 years my personal business has been air filtration . We'll agree to disagree, but I have connections to people that have paid to have oil tested at different intervals...so the one thing I can guarantee you is that my opinion is definitely not 'uneducated".
@@92040kns I have done Blackstone Analysis on my 3.5 Eco since new on two different trucks. After the first oil change at 500-1000 miles, all my analysis info said with good synthetic and filter you can easily go 8000. I often go 10k. I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Mobil 1 filter or Wix XP
In 2022, they probably do charge $300 now. So even more reason to do it yourself. Things are crazy right now so if you can do a few things to save you time and money, why not. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
Ha ha. Seriously. It’s two bolts. Takes under 10 min and that was with me doing it one handed while explaining every step. You must be the guy that charges people to do this.
Its fairly simple, it took longer because he its putting effort to show whats needed so that people catch details on the video. On a skill level ,even a cave man can do it, so 60 bucks its too much for a filter. On the other hand. Its rewarding for the Owner to do it himself.
