ROOF TOP TENT ON MY 2022 BRONCO Tent used: Car Rooftop Tent Aluminum 2 People Hiking Cargo Hard Shell on Amazon.com #offroad#overlanding#Ford#broncos#campinglife#camping#4x4
I have had a roof top tent for over a year and love it. It assembles in 1 min and keeps you safe above ground over animals. It is also much more comfortable with the built in mattress
The way I camp and travel, a RTT fills my needs. I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone considering a small camper trailer. And it has a lot of advantages when comparing those.
Thanks for the video, great job! It definitely helped me make up my mind to purchase a RTT. The only draw back to a RTT is having to take it on and off your vehicle. But my Jeep XJ is kinda going to be mostly used for Overlanding!
I will say this in a Bronco I can takeoff the tea top in the front. I can takeoff the whole back part of it, and I would have to takeoff the tent to go bare bones, but taking this tent off isn’t quite hard I can undo everything and slide it off the rear and kind of take it off myself and now getting it back up on the car is kind of the hard part so I think you’d be OK. I don’t think it’d be heavy for an next day Cherokee but if that’s something you choose to put it on I think you would be more than fine as long as you support it well with good rails on top of the xj
Hey, I ran into you at the HEB in Austin a few months ago. Thanks for letting me take your Bronco for a spin. I still havent gotten mine yet though, I am still waiting for mine to be scheduled. But, I remember seeing all the stuff you were able to fit in that thing.
Hey brother, I really appreciate that comment. I’m doing my best I had taken a little bit of time off and filming anything. Just been busy with life but I am jumping back into it this weekend will be producing a new video for everybody on 30,000 miles with the Bronco and kind of updates and how it’s been with this car.
@@anthony_sasquatch8056 Yes I was wondering on weight of that beauty. The roof rack is rated at 110 lb and I can't find clam shell tent in that weight.
Hell ya man! You’ll be very excited. Just keep up maintenance and doing oil changes 3500-5k miles full synthetic. Also pick yourself up a k and n filter
You definitely can store bedding in this tent pretty well. You can put a lot of things in this tent and be OK. I put the ladder and all kinds of silly things until I realized how was I gonna get up there so I had to climb on my spare tire to get into my tent. It’s quite a fun time for me especially how big I was I’ve lost a significant amount of weight so it is a lot easier for me to jump around and get into my car. I definitely do not look the same that I was in this video but yes, they’ll be a video of this coming up week. I need some more things about this and what I’ve gone through with it and how I’m gonna make some better changes for this for This.
I discovered your channel today, enjoyed your videos, I have the 2 door Badlands, same color. Great review of this RTT. Any experience with batteries for powering a cooler? Dometic vs Zachary for example?
Sweet! I have a two door coming in a couple weeks. Looking at tents that fit the smaller roof. I’ve heard roofnest tents were made in a factory that sold them under other names. What was the brand? I didn’t see a link.
Anthony, Thanks for showing us a less expensive pop up tent for a 2dr bronco. I was so excited to see your video with the style of tent I want. I saw the silver reinforcement bars. How much weight do you think your set up can hold? You stated you are 280. I was just wondering regarding for my bf and I. I couldn’t see but I imagine the side zippers have “solid” zipper doors? As you showed the mesh zipper doors. Also, I have a bad back and like a firm pad. If I was to replace mattress (possibly different for my side & my bf) what is the thickest size that can fit in? 1.5”, 2”, 3” …..? I know some people leave in thin bedding with other brands of tents. Thank you so much! Do you think a thick warmer tarp would be good to have in case heavy rain or snow?
Awesome I know that definitely took time for you to write out this comment. I do apologize for replying late. Yes, I think for the two-door Broncos a great tent now the zippers and the construction of the actual tent and fabric are well-made in my opinion for how often I do use this, I think 280 is definitely OK I I actually probably way closer to about 300 310 I think in hindsight now I’m down to 270 so I would definitely say you’ll probably be fine. The pad is about Institut inch thick but it is a regular foam now if you want to choose between getting a gel insert padding that be great. Also, if you can purchase aftermarket bedding, that is great also, I would highly suggest doing so there’s some companies that make great kids to make proper bedding in there. The one thing I do dislike is the triangular shape of the tent. It be nice if it was like the Badass tent brand where the full tent comes up, perfectly level like a big box. Then I’d be able to have more room to sit and do things with a partner Now me being single and a bachelor I can live in this thing if I choose to and it’s definitely comfortable for me it has pockets in the inside as you can see in the video and I can put my cell phone charging cables and anything else I need to also pillows I will be doing a video on follow up changing the actual stock Bedding and foam for a gel pad insert or something a little bit different like memory. So they’ll be follow videos I am going to be creating a video this week. I promise of more content and something different for everybody to see I’ve been lagging on it and I do apologize life is crazy and yeah, just try to get all my ducks in a row these last few months, the Broncos at 30,000 miles and I kind of want to highlight the pros and cons of that and how it’s been for me being somebody who was a day one order holder and receiving a Bronco you know now kind of going through all the trials and tribulations. Sorry if this message is all misspelled, I’m using my voice reply to write out everything so sometimes Siri doesn’t put everything together correctly.
Good looking setup. Would you be able to give me a big more clarity on the roof racks you picked up, as far as their weight limit? I'm also a big guy I'm 220, so the idea of the weight of the tent + myself and gf I want to make sure it's possible. I found your tent on Amazon, but the roof racks vary in how much weight they recommend, I'm seeing a lot of 165-200 capacity...so I'm struggling to understand how I could make this a two person setup safely without damaging my roof! Any info would be great, thanks! Appreciate sharing your setup - I was looking at Trailrax + other pop up tents and I'm like 5k in....nice to have affordable options to start with
Good morning! You can get away with the factory set up however I would look into buying a additional bar for the middle to support you in the tent because it will flex otherwise
thanks for the video, looks pretty great! I think you got the 37in tires, right? Could you tell what's the height from ground to rooftop w/ the bar? I loved it, but I'm afraid it wouldn't pass my garage height :(
How height are you? I am 6’2”. I saw that deal on Amazon. However, I’m not sure how’s comfortable with sleeping in the tent. Can you share your sleeping experience? Thanks. The RTT is fitted perfectly with your Bronco. It’s a great and affordable setup.
I have this on my Gladiator so I use back for gear/cooking etc. The rear is easier to enter for sure but the sides are fine. I just find the side zippers harder to grab so I added paracord to the loops.
Hi, I'm looking for a RTT for my 2-door Bronco Black Diamond non-Sasquatch. I believe I found it on Amazon, noticed it is about 140lbs. What are your thoughts after using this one for the past year. Roof and rack hold up to the weight? My concern is exceeding Ford's recommended weight limit of 110lbs. Thanks.
Mines definitely up there in the weight I really think it’s closer to 120 weight hard to say. I have factory roof rack and then I added a center support bar that they sell for the rack which probably helps keep everything sturdy
Ahh I don’t know exactly because it was very clear but it was atleast 100 pounds to 115 I think wasn’t too heavy and I don’t even feel it up there as I drive to be honest
So unfortunately, I guess they don’t make this tent anymore. The tent isn’t made anymore, which is kind of a bummer. It is a good tent. I may be selling my personally if you’re located in California somewhere more than to sell it to you because I believe I might be going to with my camping experience so let me know.
No issues with my wife and I. Our two teens sleep in it too with again zero issues. We actually enjoy it more than our clamshell ovs tent. Something about the solid roof that makes you feel safer and I sleep better. Stays a tad warmer too.
I will definitely say the pros to the solid roof and the angle that it’s in is that snow doesn’t happen to stay on the tent. I do plan on doing a review of this in colder weather this year when I go up to Oregon and I can show you guys more about that or maybe if I stay in Shasta California you can kind of see that as well
Mhmm I think ground tents are fine. However I had a vision and want for this tent and went with it and it’s convenient I can just pop the top at the beach and hang in there while letting air flow and relax and read a book with out all the sand in my tent
Ahhh ok ok I was looking into it and while doing so I learned about the whole dynamic/static weight and made me rethink the whole rooftop tent I was planing to get
@@user-mf7tj6mt6v I would say remember those are the numbers they come up with for liability reasons though I would say with the extra bar supporting the middle of the roof rack it would make it significantly stronger in my opinion. from experience. I've driving on and off-road from Texas back to California recently and from California t Oregon and back no issues!
@@anthony_sasquatch8056 you’ll get there bro, people don’t realize RU-vid takes a lot of work to really be profitable. The fact you have the subs you do got is a plus. Shorts are killing it these days. They suck you in, lol
@@myfalconry76 yes! Thank you! And I am grateful that some people care lol. I just take my time with things I never wanna be a sell out. I hope that never happens but I’d definitely like to partner with companies and give back to people in some way
@@anthony_sasquatch8056 you know I’m currently talking to a manufacturer of rooftop tents. Identical products to roofnest. One tent 560.00usd they will print your own brand name on them and everything. I’m thinking of buying 15 or 20 to see how they sell
