What a pain in the butt! Stuff like this is why I'm glad I got talked out of becoming a tech. Much respect to you Big Ben! It takes a lot to want to stay in the business these days.
Do you know if the automatic is this insane to get out? I tend to go for manual transmissions for multiple reasons but mainly for simplicity in repairs & replacements. This is A LOT of work!
I believe the 10 speed would be similar to remove. Maybe not quite as bad. The front wheel drives are basically Escapes so they're not the end of the world
Will you have a video on replacing synchronizer rings. I'm sure many Ford Bronco owners would be very interested in watching. I'm one of them since I own one and currently experiencing the issue. TSB doesn't seem to fix the issue.
Sorry, not any time soon. That Bronco is already done. It was my first time doing the tsb so I needed to take my time and learn. Thanks for watching. Next time I will.
Hey Ben I’m planning on purchasing a 2.3 with manual in the future. Do you feel like these MT88s are a good transmission once the syncros are replaced? And is there a particular year that doesn’t experience this issue? Also are these syncro issues a matter of if or when in terms of how often they go out/begin whining? Is there anything I should be looking for in a test drive besides the whine when the clutch is released? Thanks for all your help man appreciated the video!
Hi, they're good transmissions, certain ones had the noisy synchro issue. I'd have to find the TSB number and it'll say which build date broncos had the issue
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles damn that sucks for buying used… gotta be an easy 5k to have those syncros done I imagine… could be worth it to just buy a 2023. What do you think?
@falkenphil557 if the one you're looking at isn't making the noise, you should be good to go. And I'd be curious if friction modifier would quiet it down. Either way, new transmissions are pretty cheap through Ford. The warranty price is only 1k
Good Lord have Mercy! ALL that and ya Can't do the Clutch, Pressure Plat and such. What a Shame to have to got through that again down the road when it can be put off for a while by Nipping it in the BUD! What a MESS. Hope you didn't BLEED OUT from the Skull.. And why would the TRANNY need rebuilding Already???
Theres a TSB for the synchros making a scraping sound when cold. I did manage to air hammer my finger against a sharp metal corner.. so that was fun. (during teardown of the trans)
