My C4 transmission in my 1975 Ford Bronco has been leaking all over my garage floor. So, I’m going to pull it out and send it off to be rebuilt.
A couple important things to do while the transmission is out:
•Flush the transmission cooler lines with this stuff: amzn.to/3wV1Xm3
•Replace the Crossmember bushings with new bushings: tomsoffroad.com/parts/66-77-f...
Dana 20 to Transmission gasket: tomsoffroad.com/parts/66-77-f...
Get a transmission jack: amzn.to/3gbqxck
How to remove a C4 transmission:
0:00 - Remove or move exhaust
0:09 - Remove drive shafts
0:12 - Disconnect Transmission Cooler Lines
3:07 - Remove Starter
3:12 - Remove Cross member and support the transfer case with jack
3:56 - Remove Transfer Case floor shifter
8:19 - Disconnect the speedo cable
7:16 - Disconnect kick down cable
7:58 - Disconnect shift linkage
8:08 - Disconnect Neutral Safety Switch
4:56 - Unbolt torque converter
- Removed transmission filler tube (I couldn't get mine off)
5:12 - Wiggle it loose and get out of the way
