@@KyrieEleisonMaranathaid be happy with just the 3v 4.6. i think they missed a huge opportunity with that. the 3v came out in 05 and the vics were in production until 2011-12. the 3v also came with a 5spd so it couldve got the same or better mpg while making more power. it wouldnt have made as much as a GT, but it couldve made 270-280hp. that wouldve changed the game for vics. it could’ve potentially been a 6-7 second 0-60 car stock. instead its over 8 with the 2 valve😂

My mother in laws husband has been working on cars since he was a kid. He told me that straight piping tends to have backpressure issues. Meaning your car could possibly stall out on a humid day. You need the resonators for that back pressure so I'd recommend performance ones.

@@co2tommyboy it will I believe. Or at the very least not set off the CEL. The two rear cats don’t have O2 sensors while the front two do

@@DespisiveDerp My last Grand Marquis had deleted rear cats. It did no set off the check engine light because the oxygen sensors are are reading the first cats and not the second pair. Here in Texas we cut them off all the time and never have to worry about passing inspection. Other states are more strict and look for that mod if you tried to pass inspection.

@@ragintaurusmusclemercury7023 yes you are correct, in California you usually have to pass a visual inspection on top of having it hooked up to the computer. In this case you can just cut the secondary cats, gut them and have them get welded back together then the rest is up to preference .

The original FOMOCO factory dual exhaust system was made with 1 and 7/8ths -inch pipes. Upgraded pipe size = 2 - inch O.D. Walker H-Pipe is 2" O.D. -- MagnaFlow 2" Glasspacks -- 2" Walker Tailpipes. The larger 2.5 -inch pipes will DECREASE low-and mid-range torque, due to loss of exhaust scavenging with the bigger pipes. AND, the bigger pipes will reduce fuel mileage, too. The 4.6-liter is NOT a "large motor" by V-8 standards -- 281 cubic inches is actually pretty small, although the 4.6 had much more horsepower than the 302 c.i. @@SlikLizrd The original exhaust size on my 2003 Grand Marquis was 2" which is undersized for an engine that size pushing 200 hp or higher. A V8 pushing 200 up to 250 can get away with a 2" dual exhaust. Once you hit the 250 mark you need to go up to 2.25'. Ford knows. This that's why their Mustang GT's have 2.25" factory size exhaust even though they have the same engines that are in the Grand Marquis. They were set up for reliability and economy. Not performance. My 2003 Mercury has the factory size h-pipe made by Walker. The mufflers are Jones Flowpacks which are 2.25", and the tailpipes are 2.25" with 3.5" chrome tips. The engine is modified with upgraded ignition, fuel system, and a Competition Cam "Stage 1" camshaft. It makes 280 to the crank. It was totaled a month ago but I am building a 2000 Mercury to replace it. Just installed a cammed 5.4 Triton V8 in it. The exhaust will be installed hopefully next week. I don't know about that but it does sound bad. Maybe it's because they took the H pipe off but muffler deletes usually sound bad on the panther bodies. The basic Flowmasters sound good them but the FlowFx surprise me when I first heard them on this platform. They sound good.

Buy some electric exhaust cut outs. It’s what I did for my 1999 p71. Kinda a hassle to install, but it’s basically a pipe that has a electric valve in it, which switches pipes when you give it power. You can have two exhaust setups on the same car. I’ve got the stock system on mine for day to day use, and straight pipes for fun when I feel like it

@@OpenTopicsBoxing And sound like shit doing it. Just making a point that any mod you can do on a 4.6 Mustang is a straight bolt on for the Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and Town Cars. There are videos of these cars running 13s and 12s without boost and these are two ton cars. It is up to you and how much you want to spend. Outside of a supercharger there is not much you can do with a V6 Charger outside of getting a V8.
