I own a 2009 limited fwd. didn’t want anything to do with the 4wd and subsequent transfer case maintenance issues. I love this car. Over a hundred fifteen thousand miles with no major problems. Change trans fluid eng oil and filter keep a check on the PH of coolant good to go. Going to do all the brakes this spring when it’s warmer. I would buy another one👍

My 2009 Ford..."Bella Edge" she has been a beast since I purchased her in 2018! 163,000 miles now...the dealers always are impressed she also drives amazing 🤩 Only has had an alternator and a new battery, new tires...brakes done only once! Time for new tires this summer before fall. I would definitely want another with LE lights

My 2013 with the 3.5L engine has been very reliable. When I purchased it used 20,000 miles ago, I had the dealer change the water pump. These water pumps are basically inside the engine, and it costs a lot to take so much apart, put in a water pump, and put it all back together again. Here in Michigan we get a lot of snow, and my front wheel drive Edge is great in snowy conditions.The Edge, non-turbo can last 300,000 miles with good maintenance.

Let’s talk maintenance and reliability. The 3.5 and 3.7 engines in these vehicles have an internal water pump that if the shaft seal fails will dump the coolant into the oil pan. The design was improved in 2012 with a double timing chain to reduce stress on the pump bearing and seal to improve longevity. I have a 2013 with 130k miles no problems so far. On the 4-wheel drive models the oil in the PTU (transfer case) is “life-time”, there is no drain plug. However the PTU is wedged between the engine, trans and exhaust. The oil gets cooked and eventually becomes black tar (also common on the Ford Explorers that share this design). If not addressed the unit will fail, I caught mine at 125k puking black goo out the vent. Pumped what I could out the fill hole, drive, repeated several times.

I just bought a 2014 limited. The last word id use to describe the exterior is bold. Its sleek and layed back, clean...almost boreing, vanilla. Its a very understated & humble lookin vehicle, until you step in and see all that leather, all those speakers and all those electronics! Its an entirely different vehicle on the outside. My wife wanted this vehicle and i absolutely hated it, till i opened the door. I just wish they made the outside oatmeal to match the insides grandslam breakfast.
